Most local people don't use the Rocket for travelling to and from Barisal. They use one of the big boats (the 4/5 storied ones) that you saw on your visit to the Dhaka River port at Sadar Ghat. They are like floating cities.
The hotel in Barisal, is it beside the Christian cemetery, on Sadar Road? The name escapes me maybe Athena. Thanks for going to the floating market. Did you go to the guava Gardens in Swarupkathi? Well that reminds me guava picking season is coming to a close now.
My hotel in Barisal was near the Garden Restaurant, if you know where that is, I do remember Athena- maybe it was called Athena, but I can't remember for sure. I didn't go to the guava gardens.
You got on the Rocket? I can't wait to see that video. In my view either refurbish it and use it as a cruise ship, even take it in the Sundarbans or make it into a floating restaurant. Its days as a regular vessel is over.
I had planned on the Rocket, but unfortunately 2 of the 3 were broken and the 3rd Rocket was only leaving on Fridays, so I ended up on the regular ferry. I agree with you that the Rocket should be refurbished as a slice of history and used as a cruise ship.
