- A quick review on a one-day impression of the PRS Floating Guitar Stand! Seems like a cool stand to show off a fancy guitar...as long as you put it somewhere safe and don't have dogs or kids :)

Those push tests were surprisingly stressful! Haha
You requested this video, so blame yourself!
$139.00. Do they make an SE stand model? 😆👌
Yeah, but it's just a stick with a V shape at the end, gotta bury it in the dirt :(
Isn't this the SE version? it is made in China... LOL
@@BAMozzy69 The SE of this SE version (now called SE2) is made in the Mariana Trench
Great video, thanks so much for sharing! Do you know the height from the neck support to the base? I have a large archtop and I want to make sure it fits. Thanks again!!
Cool video thanks!
I got the stand too ! Love it love it ! So convenient
Yeah it's WAY more beefy than I expected. Really cool!
Good idea especially for guitar shapes like the Firebird and Explorer.
This one should fit in there just fine 😂 reverb.com/item/33122555-video-demo-jackson-usa-custom-shop-pablo-masterbuilt-double-neck-6-7-2009-custom-graphic
How does it do on carpet? Does the base stay firmly planted, or would you get a stand with legs for carpet?
Not too bad, it's a very heavy base. If you have the world's most plush carpet, you might want to get something with legs. I had mine on a rug and it was fine.
That face at 2:59 is meme-worthy! Great video :-) Thanks
That was a pretty good field test! (no pun intended). Real world glimpse to check stability. Solid review. Personally, I think I'd prefer the look of the wooden Zither ones, but I was surprised that its metal / cast iron / whatnot.. A heavy heavy stand, it makes sense actually.
Hey, I'll give it that since it has like a open shield base, at angles it looks like a hovering guitar! lol. just needs plastic neck rests instead.
Ha. Yeah it's a beast. Looks a little corny I guess? I'll compare with a Zither next video :)
Hey man, off topic but how often do you get PRS Custom 24 10 Tops in at your Reverb store? I had a 2010, but I stupidly sold it some years back. Loved that guitar and really miss it! Thinking about grabbing another one if I can find the right color and price
Not very often. Usually I just list guitars I review. I have two Cu24s at the moment...but I'll probably be keeping both. The 2013 is a stunner and I'm currently using it as my dropped C guitar (instagram.com/p/CAejavrnk4_/). The other one is a beat up 1988 and I just like playing it, so I doubt I'll let them go. I do have a half-troll reverb listing right now for 2x1990 Cu24's for $40k for a matching serial number set, but I don't expect anyone to pay that. Doubt those are the kind of Cu24 you're looking for. Prices are up on reverb as well. Post pandemic prices, post reverb fee hike, post state taxes...it's all bad!
The Guitar Pit Gotcha, thanks for the reply. And yeah I noticed the price hike, really sucks. I’ll check out that other video, appreciate the help
I think that is a cool guitar stand. Nitro safe is plus. If it goes on sale I'm gonna get it. I have a stand but this would be cool to hang a guitar while your playing or practicing. Just hang it. Take a break and grab it while still looking cool. 130 is a little steep. if it goes on sale I will consider it!
Will this fit my fender squire stratosphcaster? It’s NOT prs guitar.....
You bet :) Any regular guitar should fit.
Phillip McKnight sent me here. Great video, thanks man.
McKnight is the best! Thanks for stopping by :)
Any chance you could grab the dimensions of the base?
It's about 15"x15". Since it's not a uniform shape I'd give it a couple inches in both directions. Also the back bows out so maybe another 2~3" for that.
That's one hell of a knock that a guitar would need to take and I doubt many stands would keep the guitar safe. That padding does look thin at the back though - perhaps more than the Zither offer but the Zither is wood.
Overall, I think these hanging stands make for better photos when you take pics to sell your guitars on Reverb.... LOL
Really solid stand. Padding on the back could use a little upgrade, but it's not going anywhere. The base is super heavy. And great point, I should keep it for Reverb photos :)
Excellent review!!!
🤣👍
Ha, thanks dude! Solid stand, little expensive and corny I guess though :)
@@TheGuitarPit 😉👍
Can we use it on 34" bass guitar?
I doubt it. I don't have a 34" bass, but I tested it on a 30" bass and there is exactly 4" to the metal base. It'd either be a very, VERY close call or wouldn't fit, depending on the body.
Great product review. It looks excellent. :)
You're gonna tell us about that 10s right?! I've been eyeballing them, I need to know your opinion!
Well, I used it as a stunt guitar so that should give you an idea. It's a fine, cheap guitar. Not great but I paid $300 so whatever. Is it better than a $1000 guitar? No.
Is there a 10 top version?
Yeah but the downside is its $4,900.
Probably not for me , but a very good demo . If i ever do need a stand like tht , thts the 1 ill b lookin for . Excellent .
It's certainly a statement piece. Gotta have the room and the right guitar for it though. Otherwise, I think a normal stand will do :)
I thought about that padding instantly when I saw it the first time. For the price, I'd expect a better pad for that...
Yeah I wouldn't have minded seeing a much thicker pad back there. It's basically a thin strip of 3M foam tape or something.
@@TheGuitarPit The sound of it hitting the stand is very worrying xD I basically made the same face you did lol.
I thought you'd test that out with the Suhr!! lol
How dare you! :P
Hey Chris, sorry for off topic. But do you know whats up with Cheddars yt channel???? Hes gone?
Yeah, he's off for now. Wanted to focus on other things, but who knows. Maybe we'll see him come back one day, I hope!
@@TheGuitarPit oh ok. I see. Thanks für replying!
Review of that 10S guitar coming soon?? 😛
Lol hard to bother with. It's a fine but cheap guitar. Not that exciting but not awful.
Well, you've opened Pandora's box. Now there must be a stand shoot out...PRS vs Zither stands! Or a Pit & McKnight collab shoot out, each defending your choices! LMAO! And as someone else said....day'uum that lawn!!! Well played sir!
I feel like this one HAS to be more stable. The case weighs at least 10lbs I think. It's solid as a rock. And man, you guys love that lawn! Haha.
so its basically do the same thing with wall guitar mount, but more expensive
Just saw this on Facebook and was curious about it. So glad its metal I thought it was plastic as well.
Yeah the photo made it look like it was weird plastic so I had to find out. It's bulletproof, for sure.
@@TheGuitarPit I definitely wanna get one now. Also I'm in the market for a good 6 guitar stand if you know of decent one.
@@JimDewdGuitars I really like the Hercules floor stand. It's only for 5 guitars, but you can add more neck stands to it for like $10. It can probably hold 7~8.
@@TheGuitarPit that sounds perfect and I already have one of their triple guitar stands so it will match lol. Thanks man I appreciate it.
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. Glad u did this review. Now I know what I'm not buying .
I want to bolt it down so I can do a 360 flip.
Would you be interested in reviewing our Zither Red Oak stand made in Texas?
I would be interested, since I'm in Texas as well (Austin). The one note though, is I will probably compare your stand to this one. So as long as you're alright with that, I'm interested.
@@TheGuitarPit Yes please. We have been making this stand for 6 years here in Texas. Text or email your address tony@zitherusa.com 979-820-7010
BETTER THAN A ZITHER OR WORSE ?
I have a Zither they sent to review. Will have a video about it soon, but I'd say the PRS stand is more stable...but do you really need it? I think the Zither looks more classy, and is made in the USA by hand. And it's cheaper. So I'd take the Zither unless you are absolutely dying for something heavy and rock solid.
Levitation time, come on (let’s levitate it)
Also best type of stand to keep those sharp pointy guitars from getting dings and chips 👍🏽
Will this one fit? reverb.com/item/33122555-video-demo-jackson-usa-custom-shop-pablo-masterbuilt-double-neck-6-7-2009-custom-graphic
A lil ding... klank (paint flies everywhere) 😂
Glarry makes guitars for these tests
That gets a custom 8 foot skull shaped shadowbox to hang prominently in the front room duh.
😂
@@PooNinja lol rip glarry
Man and I was gone get a few to smash on stage once we can break stuff in bars again my lungs got F’d in that volcano so I’m waiting till the vaccine is TESTED ✌🏽
Tony the tiger review next plz
God, I need a gofundme for that one. 22k GIGALOL.
If you knock a regular stand it would fall over also. I kinda like it
Oh certainly. Also, if you're kicking guitars you're doomed to start with. Just wanted to see how much it took out of curiosity. I think it's plenty sturdy overall.
Interesting. The Zither stand was made to be knock-over-proof and the cheapest option with untreated wood is $149. Surprised a metal PRS stand is slightly cheaper.
Yeah, that's why I half expected it to be plastic. Pretty impressed to be honest!
We have a Red Oak stand for $99.99 made in Texas.
@@ZitherWizard for some reason I thought it was $149 as well. Looks like that is for a different wood option.
All wood is treated (finished) and the Red Oak is $99.99.
That guitar stand is nice and all, but yo, can we talk about that grass?
That lush texas grass is doing well :)
Every time the guitar slams into the metal, a puppy dies
How does it sound?
Thick and metttttttaaaaal!
Just get a black hollow pool noodle and cut it in half to place on the bottom where the thin foam is.
Yeah I think I'd probably do that. Would like a littttttle more padding back there.
I used heavy black water pipe insulation to seal the area between my truck seats and the center console 👍🏽 no fries will escape under the seat 🤘🏽
Toilet seat and a pole.done.🎸😌
Guitar Prepnand1 I sensed well deserved the mic drop at the end of that 🤣
Looks like a garden tool . By the way the guitar balancing is mesmeracing.
Can dig a hole for that poor broken 10S.
He didn’t put any padding underneath while putting it on concrete...his wood floors are gonna love it.
My floors aren't even level! It's probably unusable haha.
Cool stand. Is it tone metal? ✌️Chris
Your pickups gain 0.1k output per hour it hangs in this stand.
@@TheGuitarPit yes...I knew it. 🤣
Nice, but kind de of prefer the Hercules stands tbh
I like racks at leg-level to be honest. If this stand was hilariously tall it would be cooler, but you'd have to bolt it to the floor and it'd be some kind of art installation at that point lol.
I just realized the base of it is supposed to look like a guitar pick
Ha good point, that didnt even occur to me lol.
Aww shucks can't use this to show off my new Strandberg then looooollll
Ha. Strandberg makes a pretty cool stand too...but by comparison its more overpriced than the PRS one, considering its just two small pieces of wood lol.
I would of used my 10s for this demo too. I would also use it for firewood but I don't have a fireplace.
Hah. I get the feeling if you burn one it'd make a bunch of toxic fumes and kill you on the way out :P
The Guitar Pit very true. I'll tell ya, I should of known better but I watched a couple videos and figured why not. I waited 4-5 months for a unplayable guitar lol. The string spacing at the nut was comically bad. Different spacing between each string. I had a new nut installed to try and salvage it but then the fretwork was horrible. So it hangs as a constant reminder that you get what you pay for and that anything too good to be true is BS.
I'll tell you what though, I bought a harmony silhouette recently and man I love it to death.
Love the channel man.
But does it improve your tone 🤷♂️
It sure hasn't helped me very much, haha.
A les paul is the perfect guitar for these tests :)
Seems very impractical, the amount of floor space it takes up compared to a regular stand or a hook on the wall which does the same thing for less money
I prefer the hercules floor stands and wall mounts, but I guess if you want a fancy showcase for 1 guitar, this would be the ticket.
I keep all my high end guitars in cases with humidipaks when not in use. Overkill, perhaps, but dust free and proper humidity works for me. I cant help but feel PRS is turning into Apple - lacking serious innovation for years now and extreme pricing.
How about fixing the neck joint (why not smoother or some neck thrus), adding some flatter radius models, having some leftys that aren't Indonesian, and adding some different pickups. While the guitars are so beautiful, I can't justify purchasing one again even when I almost get seduced by the looks again.
I see your point, but mostly disagree. I think their pickups are best in the business and no one except ultra modern players wants flatter radii. Sure, I guess they could make a neck-thru model with 20" radius and alpha/omegas, but my guess is they saw the demand on the Holcomb and decided not to? Plenty of other brands do that. As far as innovation, they seem to continue to fine tune the hardware, finish, features, etc. I agree the price is absolutely ridiculous, but I'm not sure what can be done about that :P Either way, I love their core line for what it is. Not sure I'd really want to see a Custom 24 with bareknuckles and a flat board...but maybe it'd be cool?
@@TheGuitarPit All very good points as well for sure! I get where you're coming from....they do serve their particular demographic very well. The brand cant be all things to all people. 7000$ CAD for a custom 24 makes me want to die inside though.
@@TheGuitarPit It also makes me wonder what kind of specs Herman Li from Dragonforce has with his PRS. I bet he is tapping into some serious cool potential that PRS can do for artists but not the layperson.
@@northernlefty5412 Yeah the CAD thing is brutal. It's horrible here too, if that makes it any less bad. My 509 was $5400 list I think? That's toe curling. That said, they do offer CE/S2/and some other options. But hey, I wanted that rosewood neck and artist top hah.
I play my guitars everyday and, at least for me, keep them in case helps me to forget the instrument and play it less.
This guy is giving some serious Ethan Kline vibes
138 I'd rather buy a pedal or some shit
Just wrap the base of the stem in bubble wrap then.
If I was going to have something really nice on the stand, I probably would add a little more foam back there just in case...
Great test. Bad guitar stand.
You better not have anything near the stand. It is a death pendulum for a guitar.
Looks like a toilet seat, but to be fair, I AM sitting on a toilet. Too much info ?
Nitro safe...lol... Don't believe that.... Nothing is Nitrocellulose safe but your case... Unless it's the ones that use the cheap red dye for the liner..
Fair, good to know!
cool if made from wood
zitherusa.com/ !
wont fit in a gig bag
Or in a car haha.
Yeah, no...
Eh, there is a place for it. I prefer a regular floor rack, but it's good for a fancy room with 1 guitar or Reverb pictures :P
Hercules is better.
I really like the Hercules wall hangers. They aren't at foot level (like this one) and grip the neck once you put em down. Awesome hangers.
Very much like all PRS designs-overpriced.
Fair enough, but it's cheaper than similar wood stands and seems to be better. If you want a showpiece, this is probably your best option.
@@TheGuitarPit Is it? Man, just goes to show my ignorance. If they just made some nice wall hangers for like $25 I'd go for them.
@@mattfleming2287 I use hercules wall hangers and floor stands. Love em. But there are wooden ones in this similar shape, less stable, for $149 I think. Either way, it's for snooty guitar presentations I think lol.
LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE ............ MADE IN CHINA.
"highly recommended"? really? even for a novelty stand who would like to turn a guitar into a pinata?
I mean, recommending this stand assumes you want a stand like this. For what it is, I think it's fairly priced and well made. I'm more of a hercules rack guy myself. But this is a cool way to show off that one special guitar.
Just because the guitar _can_ take a hit doesn't mean it _has_ to.
If you're wearing a cup it doesn't mean everyone _has_ to kick you in the nads.
It's not floating. You can hear it touch the ground.
Total scam! Need one that hovers my guitar magnetically.
made in china sticker? for 140? no thanks
I put that b-roll in there on purpose :) It's solid quality, but yup, made in China.
@@TheGuitarPit you can get one of those kickass wooden ones that is the same idea for the price. I would personally way rather have the wooden one, but to each his own. A good guitar stand is super satisfying. It's like when you put new tires on a car...... well maybe not exactly, but....
@@Josbornevonosborne I have one on the way, and will do a comparison video :)
Why????!
Guitar abuse 😡
This guitar arrived pre-broken :)
