- Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief of Disney+ is a real letdown for me. I'd say its pretty mediocre and failed at a lot of things the movies did better despite having the creator involved and probably more money. Let's talk about it.

I am growing tired of the harry potter comparison. Harry potter is a very, very old story about a prophetic underdog who battles evil. It's the structure of a lot of movies. It's unfair to compare percy jackson to harry potter. Harry potter is just wildly popular. Now, I completely agree with the disney white-washing bs. They books were grittier, and it was more fun (and in line w percys character) for annabeth and grover to explain everything to him.
Sadly anything that made it overly different to Harry Potter didn't make it into the Disney plus adaption so it's going to get compared a lot more to it
I was so angry when episode 1 came out, it took me several months to actually finish the show and I wish I never did, it just got worse and worse. The movie was bad but had personality, imagination and exhilarating moments, there's none of that in the show. The cast is perfect, and then the characters barely act like how they were written in the book. I won't be watching season 2.
Edit: I wish Nathan Fillion was still Hermes, perfect casting from the second movie. The only thing that film did right.
Interesting format without the co host, but I still like it!
Sad to see the show fell off. I felt the first episode was mostly promising, but by 3 I was out
Unfortunately we don't have time to both watch absolutely everything haha. Maybe one day.
And yeaaaaaaah it definitely started stronger than it finished, the downsides seemed to compound over time, especially for those on reddit
@@burgunbeerd That's the sad part when even the creator can't replicate his work on screen. There were definitely ways to make it fit for TV, but some of these changes felt like a deliberate step down
