      When music is considered, lean towards upping the quality of filming & narrative..I concure- sailing backed by audio stinks. What a treat sharing a long voyage with your pops...Honestly there wasn't a moment I didn't enjoy.

      @@AllAboutSpray ..excellent.. Not sure exactly why, but there are two "mistakes" that newbie yutubers tend to make. 1) they use an inordinate amount of fast forwarded video (this should be used very rarely if ever), and 2) they delete natural sound and pump in music, They even start music when they start speaking, if you can imagine that, As best as I can tell, they believe that professional documentaries and movie producers do this. The reality is music is always cut when people speak and is rarely added at any other time other than the into and ending credits. It is just a weird misconception that is now prevalent on youtube.

    By far, the very best sailing video out there!!! I watched your AMAZING adventure before bed last night and was dreaming sailing until morning. Yes, with MANY questions in my mind about your voyage.
    I'm not sure if you realize just how many people, like myself, yearn to do this..., but life doesn't always grant us all of our hopes.
    I grew up on the water in Victoria and sailed on and off, but now I'm limited to watching on RUclips.
    You're one spunky lady with an awesome Dad.
    You've inspired me to continue to look for someone to help me continue to learn and one day maybe live aboard. My dream.

    To your Father Kaylene and sorry if I mistakingly deleted my comment and his Reply to my comment!:
    You must be Very Proud of Kaylene! You guys have taught her well on all fronts! Nice to see you're very much still in the game, that clipper ship route is not for the faint of heart! We're on our way home and considered the clipper ship route, but opted out thinking 30-40 days might be a tad much when a 3 day passage is so exhausting!😂......We could use that southerly blow today!

    Nice video. Good solution for the shroud doubling, if you had a dyneema line on board that would make a better temporary shroud as it stretches less. Fwiw swaged fittings do that sometimes, it is definitely a drawback, I would definitely be on the riggers case though, 1 year is ridiculous. Thanks for helping me decide...my next re rig is going to be dyneema, except for the fore and back stays.

    • @AllAboutSpray
      @AllAboutSpray  8 месяцев назад +4

      Yes I was really wishing I had a longer dyneema line with us. The dyneema I had was a bit too short! If I do another long passage I would definitely get a piece that’s as long as our longest stay/shroud. Riggers stood by their work and replaced the shroud no problem.

    Great job I think on the spectra line to backup the weak shroud!!I was impressed when your dad ask you about the routing and you said run it through the bottom👍That’s how I would have done it,if you would have ran through the top it would have pulled the turnbuckle back towards the winch and got slack when released.

    Cool, another Canadian. We are just south at Comox Harbour, you've been added to my list along with Magic Carpet, Finding Simon, Sailorama and others. There are so many people who go from BC to Mexico but so few that go the other way, Emerald Steel seems to like to make a circuit starting in California and going to Hawaii then up to the Georgia Strait and back. I will be happy if we make it around Van Isle.... probably the same direction as the vanisle360 but not as part of it as we are a couple feet too short.... and racing is not our thing anyway.
