When I was little I used to think Finland isn't such a great place. But now having visited dozens of other countries I think it's among the best there is.
A wonderful country in every respect and miles ahead of my country in the things that really matter! Racism and bigotry are not tolerated there and the Finns are a great people. Thanks for this excellent video!
this video is just another reason to love finland... i love finlad and i´m from México, i think finland is amazing and i hope one day to live in helsinki =) i like the video
You skipped the fact the Russian emperors developed the university greatly since 1812... Skipped from swedish rule to 1917, missing the development of the university 1812-1916
Education in Finland is (currently) free-ish, in the sense of no tuition, but not free as in "we'll give you all these university books for free". Seeing a public health care doctor is much less expensive than a private one, but it's not "free" in the sense that the health center won't charge you anything. And of course, depending on what ails you, you may have to pay for a private doctor anyway because you can't get an appointment soon enough. Like in 6 months or something.
Finns are great friends. I know because I’m lucky to have a couple of them (but mine are not silent at all!!) :) Wonderful video BTW. I feel homesick about Finland, even if I’m Galician!
Great ad, and excellent choice of narrator (Jonathan Hutchings)! By the way, I noticed there are two minor inaccuracies: 1) We Finns are not, in the strictest sense, Scandinavians 2) To get to Nuuksio national park from central Helsinki, you actually need a 4 € regional ticket! ;-)
@dizablade I was addressing the misinformation in the advertisement. Tell me, what do you think about these claims? Is health care in Finland _free_? Do Finns "believe in the welfare state", and more importantly -- is the Finnish government committed to the values of a welfare state? How well has it upheld these values during the last 20 years, in practical terms? How is it a cause for jubilation if we do well when compared to rural India?
+Nazanin Mammad . I studied in Helsinki for 5 months in 2014 and I am sure that their medical department has an exchange programme. However, I don't know if you can study medicine there without knowing Finnish.
Finnish summer is pretty warm usually and has it's own charm but it is quite short unfortunately. But having four seasons that are all very different is nice too.
I'm really interested to study there, but I don't know how hard it is to be accepted. What are the chances that I'll fail, even though I pass all the requirements ?
I have recently visited their website and came across a section that I really found hard to believe.... apparantely the university makes it free for international students!!! is that really true?
One other bit that was absolute crazy-talk was in the beginning, when the narrator praises the Finns' belief in the "welfare state". We believe in it! Right on! Good for us! While, on the other hand, the Finnish governments have been very busy dismantling the welfare system over the last couple decades. Finland had a somewhat capable social security system -- in the 1980s. I guess we do well if compared to N-Korea, but it's not like there's a non-stop celebration on the streets.
"Free education for all" - for now. And "all" of course referring only to those from Finland or the EU. Because, according to the rhetoric of those who are/were arguing for the introduction of tuition fees for international students, the said fees would promote internationality. Go figure.
Your comment is old, and still rings the truth. I'm not mentioning that studies in Finnish lukio (10-12 grade) is too expensive for many parents, because book prices are high, and the minimum expenses per year are around 400 euros, the maximum being 800 or so. That's one of the reasons why many Finnish 15-16 year olds can only go to prof colleges and cannot access university until they're well over 20 and got money to pass all the exams and apply for the program they dreamed of.
Yhtään helsingin ylitsepursuavaa erinomaisuutta väheksymättä, Kuningatar Kristiinalla ei ollut mitään tekoa helsingin yliopiston kanssa, vaan Kuninkaallisen Turun Akatemian. Akatemia sittemmin toki pakotettiin muuttamaan helsinkiin.

Finnish summer is pretty warm usually and has it's own charm but it is quite short unfortunately. But having four seasons that are all very different is nice too.

What are the chances that I'll fail, even though I pass all the requirements ?
Reza Nk if I can get in so can you :)
@tiksa Because you live in the country of the university you attend and things like HEALTHCARE might interest you apart from other academic matters.
Semoga bisa melanjutkan studi disini, salam dari Indonesia♥️

@@KL-wp8ip Let's not even get started on how messed up the current higher education application system is since the reforms of the past few years..
