Greetings from Canada Fay! This song would easily fill up the dance floor back in 1987 when it was released. The Indian sounding woman’s voice samples in this song is actually the voice of Ofra Haza who was quite a popular Israeli singer.
No, that's the voice of Lebanese singer Dunya Yunis - from the song "Abu Zeluf". There was another club hit in the same year by Eric B & Rakim called "Paid in Full". The 12"remix of this song (made by Coldcut) contains the Ofra Haza sample you probably mean. It also contains the same "Pump Up The Volume" sample as the MARRS song. But that originallly comes from another Eric B & Rakim song called "I Know You Got Soul". Confused? 😅
If you liked this one, you'll also like S'Express by Theme From S'Express Theme. And before that, there was Rockit by Herbie Hancock. It was a breakdancing anthem in the 80's but don't be too creeped out by the video. The 80's had a lot of weird videos that made no sense.😁
"Put The Needle On The Record"...
When the drumbeats goes like this eeasaeaaaahhjj
Masterpiece of sampling!
That sample with "Put the needle on the record" was from Holy Ghost by the Bar Keys.
The India bit is my favorite
Wow❤️❤️❤️i also love then 😊
The India bit wasn't on the radio version when I grew up in the 80s so it sounded so strange first time I heard it. It grew on me.
This is an ode to 1980s hip hop. You get Eric B & Rakim, Public Enemy, etc.
This was one of my favorite songs when I was young
mine too, and still is. Masterpiece
You always make me smile

I definitely appreciate your input and fact checking and thank you for teaching me something new. Peace. ☺@@b0llmann179

We used to jam this song at work in the break room

🤔💭"Jam On It" Newcleus!
4:30 is sampled from this song :
Abu Zeluf by Dunya Yunis
I liked it. This style of music was called 'House Sound'.
Exactly old school acid house
It's more like a African chant.
😂
