That’s what I do!!! My favorite species to fish for are sheepshead but I make sure to target everything that comes through during their spawns, easiest way to catch the quality fish and I like a variety, whether it be a little snapper blue or the biggest tuna I’m just happy to be on the water….it’s my escape from society and “life”…Thanks for watching bro 😎 STAY TUNED 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Also jugs work really really well for shore (rocks) . That’s actually how I practiced for boat trips. Ironically, I lose more jigs on boats than from shore 😂. Easier to lose contact.. from land I lose more jigs on incoming than outgoing. Pushed into the rocks more..
What's good bro?! Loving all your videos! I started fishing hard for Tautogs 2 Fall seasons ago and I absolutely love it! Was able to catch many Togs exactly the same way you do. Everything you mentioned is so spot on! I too started fishing for them from the shore and using a sinker and lost a ton of rigs. I learned to tie a small lighter test line to the leader line then tie to the sinker, this way I could break off just the sinker when the sinker got stuck in the rocks. Also the height where the hook on the leader hangs down made a huge difference. I noticed if the hook would hang down but be more then 2 inches from the bottom, the bite was not good. When the hook is on a leader line hanging off the sinker line and about 1 inch from the sinker bottom, I had more hook ups. If the hook was too high, I had less success. Just like you I got a kayak last year and switched over to jigs and it was an amazing experience for me as well. I would drop it all the way down and feel the bottom then raise it an inch and get bite after bite. I appreciate your wise words regarding the females, we have to do our part to keep this sport, hobby livelihood enjoyable. Same with the Striped Bass females. Keep up the awesome videos bro! Enjoy you season, tight lines!
No doubt Harry! I too am a diehard tog fisherman. When I was a kid my father would let me fish for everything except blackfish and I did not know the reasons why I:e a lot of losing gear so that species always intrigued me as Ide watch him nail one after another in the early 90s and he would never let me cast but he would set hook and then let me battle the fish to shoreline and I fell in love with the species immediately from the unforgiving strength….smart man as far as letting the sinkers break off so you can still retrieve the fish, I’ll use nuts and bolts if I can get my hands on them if I’m fishing the traditional way just so I don’t waste money on sinkers. And as far your hook placement, yea you want that crab sitting as low as possible in the water column. Thanks for watching Harry 😎 STAY TUNED 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
No doubt Greg! Trying to incorporate different content for the channel besides the usual lock and load “fish porn”…figured I may as well help people out besides showing off…Thanks for watching 😎 STAY TUNED 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

Nice video, a couple of questions that were sparked after watching were: What depths should you target in april for spring blackfish? Do water temps matter?
I’m usually fishing in around 20ft of water in spring….as far as temps, blackfish like colder water and it’s like clock work every spring…once you put in enough time on certain pieces you’ll know beforehand if they’re going to be there or not….I’ve never met a brutal cold month of April to where the bite shuts down…I wouldn’t be able to tell you exactly at what water temp they bite because I’ve never focused on it too much, it’s just from years of experience that I’ll know they’ll be there…one secret tip I’ll tell you is what my father taught me as a child….once you see dandelions in your yard, the blackfish are around, and it’s never failed me…..Thanks for watching Jonathan 😎 STAY TUNED 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

I always harvest my own crabs….spend an hour flipping rocks and I have enough crabs for 2-3 4hr sessions depending on the bite…some days I’ll run out of all my crabs in one session if it’s a non stop bite and get back to flipping rocks….GREAT WORKOUT!!!! Thanks for watching James 😎 STAY TUNED 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
