To think this was 03 is mind blowing it was controversial at the time but the leap in style (love or hate) after the classic e39 is still one of the biggest changes in car design I have ever seen. The f gen returned to understated solidity after and is a fine looking car but had no wow talking point factor about it.
Still driving my Dinan tuned BMW E60 545 with all the bells and whistles, on top of all the available Dinan performance modifications, hardware and software. A great ride still and simply more performance car than I could ever need or handle. A 2005 model with 17,000 original miles on the clock to date and of course never any mechanical issues or problems to speak of, aside from periodic routine and recommended maintenance. It's strictly a weekend leisure ride vehicle only for us. Will hit 50,000 miles hopefully in a few years and see what's next for us. Great job, BMW, on my 5th generation business class ride!
The E60 is my personal favorite BMW sedan and wagon. Strikingly gorgeous design with lots of lines, sweeping curves, cuts, and all. This car has aged wonderfully.
After all these years still a fantastic car, spacious interior, massive trunk and yet feels so light and nimble. The styling is timeless and is class of it's own. Definitely my favourite 5er.
I used to drive a 2019 Audi A6 Quattro until my business failed due to COVID-19 then gave up the leasing and I had to buy a cheaper car. At the beginning I was crashed , but destiny spoiled me with a beautiful e60 530xd , manual shift, in perfect conditions , that made me forget the A6 and feel privileged to drive the BMW . The car is absolutely fantastic to drive , looks modern in 2021 and is way better then many other premium new cars . This car will stay looooong time in my family and remembers me about beautiful time spend back in the 2000’s with my previously owned e34 and e39. I just can’t say which one is better from the preowned 5 series , but for the moment I am living the love story with the fantastic e60😜
E60 M5 was the pinnacle of sports sedan. I'm getting one next month and I hope you guys utilize the V10 engine once more... the engine and exhaust roars were simply gorgeous.
This 5th gen is just like wine, it only got better looking when it got old, hopefully this will apply to the F10 as well, which is bland compared to the new G30.
i own and daily drive a 2008 5 series, still in perfect condition. bought it new in 2008 and i have no plans to change it just yet. tons of people think it's a new car and are surprised when i tell them it's the 2008 model year.
It wasn't the most reliable generation of 5 Series (The E34 was) but optioned out with the M Sport package it was definitely one of the most fun to drive 5 Series. I drove a BMW 550i M Sport with the 6MT and it had to be the best all around car I've driven. It had a nice firm ride without being harsh (switched out the RFTs), sharp handling, rock solid build quality and everything just had this nice tactile feel to it. Engine was silky smooth and powerful and the clutch and shifter were just perfect.
I'm very proud to say I finally bought one and im very VERY impressed with my car E60 530d the car is so powerful (my First car was E90) The design od E60 is beautiful... my favourite BMW no doubt imo.
In a matter of weeks I'll reach 500 000km on my 2004 E60 530d and I'm astonished how reliable it is. If this car gets decent maintanance, it'll never end :D Even with that high number on the dashboard I don't care if I have to drive for 100km or 3000km straight - I just know it'll do this just fine...
I have a 2010 BMW 535i e60. It has 51K miles. Has M and sports drive. It's gorgeous inside and outside. It gets tons of compliments daily. I did put some new black rims on it. Black on black with Napa brown leather interior. It's powerful and handles so well. I couldn't not ask for a better model. The e60 changed the game. Love mine.
Best BMW design in a long time that has really stood the test of time. Even today on the road it looks futuristic and sporty both in terms of exterior and interior. In my view one of the best sedans ever made! Back in 2004, 545i V8 was a blast!
An underrated BMW for sure. Arguably revolutionary in its design, the E60 brought about a new, iconic image for BMW. Smooth in its line yet aggressive, this car quickly became a recognizable silhouette and a status symbol. I fell in love with this car and, despite its age, I hope that one day one will sit in my garage.
This is a beautiful car. Only looks better with time. Bangle's team got it right all across the board back then. What a good time for bmw - controversial but attractive design balanced their strength in engineering driven by racing in formula one.
I had a 2007 530i for my first car and absolutely loved it. Everyone thought the car was new when it was 7 years old because of how well the design was done for its time. The reliability was awful but when it ran it ran great
got this car last year and slowly restored it to its full glory, black, on 19'' wheels it looks very up to date, sometimes people who dont know cars ask if its new lol
The 530D is a bullet proof engine known to easily get up to 300k miles, only thing letting the car down like all modern BMW's is the electronics. They even gallomized the body so it won't rust, future proof. My dad bought a 05 530D touring for £5k in 2012 with 145k, 165k now and still going strong. We retired it to sit on the front drive for now and bought a F11 535D with 23k miles
As a newer BMW fan, this was one of the first body styles I fell in love with because of the unique line & front fascia. Now I'm finally in the market for one, hoping I can find a nice E61 535xi w/ the sport auto transmission
Amazing car all around with the perfect blend of everything between size, luxury, performance, comfort, and styling. I’ve had two E60s and can say the reliability is excellent too, even with my current M5 with almost 120k miles.
The E60 still looks new. Not only that, the E60 was really the first car of the early 2000's to become more modern. Personally, I like Mercedes and would rather have a E class. The iDrive was also really fussy.
From my youth till now always drived severall Mercedes , BMW , Toyota and Honda cars. Recently buyed a bmw e60 523i 2008 high executive with manual gearbox. What a car and joy. Excellent look as a business car. Silvergrey color ❤
I love the design of the E60. Imo it's one of the best looking sedans ever made with the M-sport exterior. I think the M5 version of this car made it more acceptable for enthusiasts and BMW elitists. Nobody can complain about a V10 in a family sedan!
Jake pretty much what I said as well! When I see one today, in silver or gun metal grey, it still catches my eye. The design was so dynamically on point.
I have to smile everytime I watch these History Videos :D They are talking about weight reduction in every car but the put so much more tecnical stuff into the car and make it bigger so that it weights more with every generation anyway xD
I can't wait to get this car at 16 my dad bought it brand new in 2004 it's the 530i and I love it. I'm 14 btw. BMW is the best auto brand ever! I would love to own the 2010 BMW M5 that would be my dream come true. But I'm saving up to buy the 2010 BMW 535i. Thank you BMW for making the ultimate driving machine
I regret selling mine. I'm definitely buying another one soon! I loved my 2004 BMW 530i, I loved the colour, Olivine. I have to say that the E60 generation was the last generation that was desirable. The new ones are just another sedan on the road
Alias Rehbar I really want to!!!! They're lovely cars that are extremely reliable and they look so modern still!! I only sold mine was because I needed a 4WD. I bought a 2012 BMW X3 30d. Nice car but not as nice as the 530i
The thing is... The E60 was much better to drive than the F10 is due to it being lighter and having normal powersteering. I really hope the G30 will be better to drive than the F10. Don't get me wrong, F10 is a very good car to drive.
Manakuski Yea, the driving dynamics of the F10 leave quite a bit to be desired if you expect it to be anything E39-like. I remember reading a C&D comparison between the F10 535i, E350, A6 and CTS. I did not want to believe the things written about its handling. The phrase that hurt the most read something along the lines of, "this is as far as you can get from the E39." Once I drove an F10 I realized something. The F10 5 Series was no longer the car its nameplate predecessors were. It's really more fitting as a spiritual successor to the E38 7 Series(which makes the current 7 Series a predecessor to some kind of a behemoth) than it is to the E39/60. If that makes any sense at all. Its size is gigantic. It's very luxurious(with the right trim) and luxury seemed to be completely prioritized over everything else. Overall, it won my heart back for being the car that you would want to take on a 5 hour road trip even if you had an SUV sitting next to it. I kind of have a similar feeling when I look at the F30 3 Series. When I see an F30 340i I don't associate it with an E36 328i or an E46 330i. I just can't. When I see an F30 I cannot help but to compare it to the E39 5 Series due to its size, luxury and performance. The F22 2 Series feels like a spiritual successor to the E36/E46 and I think we will soon enough have a 4 door version of the F22 stateside. I hope someone here relates to my view on this issue.
Can't help but think that this design, particularly in m-sport guise, was the best looking saloon BMW have ever made. I will be switching to a saloon and though an early F10 is in budget, I'll be going with a late E60 instead.
I feel like BMW was really thinking with the E60 BMWs because of how cool they look and getting an orange-ish interior on an E60 BMW that has a dark blue color or a black color is relatively hard
I've only ever driven BMW, everything else just seems lacking in feel and driver dynamics in comparison. My dream is to own an E92 M3, I love the howl from the glorious 4L V8 but if money was no object it would have an E60 M5 sat next to it, the 5L V10 engine is a real masterpiece of engineering and the noise it makes brings a tear to my eye, it's just glorious. Currently I drive an E46 coupe which is the love of my life, my family always say I spend more time with that than I do them!!
i own 530xd 2007 .. i never had or driven better handling 2 tone sedan .. closest car i driven was model s tesla .. but build quality is way better in my 5 series than in brand new tesla ...but car under 10k that is made for long trips in luxury as well as spirited driving ..nothing beats it
I bought mine 535d e60 before 4 years, and it stills looks awesome and compare to other new cars isn't that far behind. It have HUD, memory packet , multimedia . Also motor is quite nice with a chip tuning it hit 350 hp and 700nM which is impressive even for nowdays diesels. And the fuel consumption 6.5/100 highway and 12-13/100 city , cant be more happy with this car. The only bad thing is that its getting older :( and the electronic start slowly to give away :(
I just bought a carbon-schwarz ´06 530i with M-Sport kit. I´m in a romance with this car. I come from the 3 previous 5 series, so I expect this one to be as least as reliable as those.
I have E60 LCI with N53 petrol engine and I must say, the tech is simply amazing. I like the rawness of E60 compared to an F10, which is too civilized and all-electric IMO.
This is one of the most beautiful cars ever Made if the e60 was focused more on reliability it would be one of the best cars ever produced even though it still is
This is still my favorite 5 series BMW has ever made, it was so futuristic back then and was so cool

This car was a game changer. Especially in 2003.. it still looks great now and the m5 and 550's are still excellent. Respect
Thanks for sharing your passion and for being our fan! :)
Anderson A. Yeah, it still looks so modern that the exterior design, at least, looks *more* modern than the brand new G30 5-series.

BMW E60, the car what looks like better and better after the years. Design was so futuristic for 2003. Great job !
Long live Chris Bangle.
@Oliver Toronyi I totally agree.
Oliver Toronyi The interior is awful though.
Have you seen a fully equipped E60 interior ? It was luxurious back in 2003. But, the build and material quality is far from E39.
Still driving my Dinan tuned BMW E60 545 with all the bells and whistles, on top of all the available Dinan performance modifications, hardware and software. A great ride still and simply more performance car than I could ever need or handle.

I’ve had e39 m5 and now I’ve got e60 m5 and both cars are awesome in there own right 👍.
it has aged so well. No wonder it was hated back in the day. It was way ahead of its time.
Design that was so ahead of its time. Looks like it came out in 2010. Came out in 2003!!
The E60 is my personal favorite BMW sedan and wagon. Strikingly gorgeous design with lots of lines, sweeping curves, cuts, and all. This car has aged wonderfully.
i would totally drive this car in 2019, still a sexy looking 5 series
After all these years still a fantastic car, spacious interior, massive trunk and yet feels so light and nimble. The styling is timeless and is class of it's own. Definitely my favourite 5er.
I love it. I've been a teenager when this came out and it was the car that ignited my passion for BMW.
Today, i'm an employee :)
Thank you, E60

I definitely prefer the e39, but for 2003... this is a FANTASTIC car. It's so much more refined than most of the stuff that was around back then.
This is my dream sedan. I like the design. The headlights looked like the eyes of an eagle. Likewise with the taillights, which look like wings.
E60 M5 was the pinnacle of sports sedan. I'm getting one next month and I hope you guys utilize the V10 engine once more... the engine and exhaust roars were simply gorgeous.
kyrix1st no chance of bmw touching that v10 again there all going turboed with smaller engines .
This was my first car, and I absolutely LOVED it. Despite the amount of money it took to maintain I am still devastated that it is gone.
Great car! I have one. Bought it in 2007.530d with Kit M.Still rolling and good quality overall!
Hi where I can get KIT
funny how they didn't even mention the S85 V10 that made this generation iconic
Random Gamer They didn't mentioned any of M cars in this series.
I think they'll make M5 episodes as they did with the M3.
Almost nobody talk about it but the fact that you had adaptative headlights in 2004 in incredible
I don't think this car is ugly. I think this car is beautiful
Agree! I love the headlight design🔥
Agreed. It looks so good and timeless
Yes but e39 is most beautiful and elegant than e60.

I feel like BMW was really thinking with the E60 BMWs because of how cool they look and getting an orange-ish interior on an E60 BMW that has a dark blue color or a black color is relatively hard
Romanians really loves this car
The official car of tailgating, no turn signals, False M badges, and M STRIPES ON THE GRILLE OF MY 525i WITH YELLOW HEADLIGHTS.
I think you meant to comment on an Audi video.
here comes an hater
I've only ever driven BMW, everything else just seems lacking in feel and driver dynamics in comparison. My dream is to own an E92 M3, I love the howl from the glorious 4L V8 but if money was no object it would have an E60 M5 sat next to it, the 5L V10 engine is a real masterpiece of engineering and the noise it makes brings a tear to my eye, it's just glorious.
Currently I drive an E46 coupe which is the love of my life, my family always say I spend more time with that than I do them!!
The butterfly wings headlights are so exotic
My all time favourite sedan.
I looking forward to the video of the F30. I've been driving a 2012 520d for a year now and i absolutely love the thing!
My first and actual car is a 525i 2006, and i love it so much
+Yocael Thank you for your compliment, we are so lucky to have fans like you in our community!
Amazing car even in 2022 that is crazy
1:40 😂😂 Airbag fault in The commercial 😂 Would be a Surprise if they Had Fixed it 😂
BMW E60 the Best of the Year 2003 - 2010 💪💪
i just bought 2005 97,000 miles and i love it , it has some issued to fix but itsno big deal its 15 years old car but still drive like new
i own 530xd 2007 .. i never had or driven better handling 2 tone sedan .. closest car i driven was model s tesla .. but build quality is way better in my 5 series than in brand new tesla
...but car under 10k that is made for long trips in luxury as well as spirited driving ..nothing beats it
I bought mine 535d e60 before 4 years, and it stills looks awesome and compare to other new cars isn't that far behind. It have HUD, memory packet , multimedia . Also motor is quite nice with a chip tuning it hit 350 hp and 700nM which is impressive even for nowdays diesels. And the fuel consumption 6.5/100 highway and 12-13/100 city , cant be more happy with this car. The only bad thing is that its getting older :( and the electronic start slowly to give away :(
This design works in my country which makes 525i MSport the most picked car. :D
ALFRED KLONFASS BOEK I LOVE YOU FOR MAKING A BEAUTIFUL CREATION LIKE THIS
I just bought a carbon-schwarz ´06 530i with M-Sport kit. I´m in a romance with this car. I come from the 3 previous 5 series, so I expect this one to be as least as reliable as those.
My favourite car.
Thanks for this video.
Love these videos from this era. Distinctive styling and brilliant engineering.
Now bmw car promotions focus on lifestyle, not the car.
I have E60 LCI with N53 petrol engine and I must say, the tech is simply amazing. I like the rawness of E60 compared to an F10, which is too civilized and all-electric IMO.
Still look modern & beautiful until now.
Headlights turn with the wheels! Like the Tucker Torpedo😁
This is one of the most beautiful cars ever Made if the e60 was focused more on reliability it would be one of the best cars ever produced even though it still is
