Thanx hart70 for posting! But is fair to let the record straight here... and give credit where where is due. This was produced, mixed and edited by myself, Tuta Aquino and my "brother" Julio Mazzei (hence J&T Records), both Brazilian DJs and producers that lived in NYC in 70's and 80's and 90's. We formed the duo "The Kids From Brazil" that in the early 80's did a lot of mixes for "Paco's Super Mix" a mixed series that aired daily on NYC's WKTU FM. This was a bootleg that we produced and sold to a few of the NYC specialized DJ vinyl shops. The Vol.1 was done by the 2 of us but this Vol.2 here also had the additional hands of the Latin Rascals, Albert Cabrera and Tony Moran. We all were pioneers of the editing techniques in the early 80's NY, all close friends that later on ended up having careers in the Music Industry as Editors, Producers, Remixers and Artists. I ended up creating Prime Cuts Editing, with partner Mark Kamins, a studio in NYC that for many years was center of the editing and remix world. Although someone else continued using the name Big Apple Productions in subsequent volumes (3,4,5...) we only created and produced Vol.1 and Vol.2, big hits and very sought after back then and still today... Very proud and thankful that is kept alive by so many people! So now you all know... Peace!
Good to hear from you. I had all this info on my last channel but neglected to add it here. I'll fix that. I have a question. On Paco's Super Mix, Volume 1was aired and Paco said Stuart Best mixed it. Who is he? Link is here: ruclips.net/video/1c5t_6Q5lMM/видео.html
I loved listening to this when it came out, I thought "I didn't know these songs go together so well!". What went through my head today, I was thinking "Hey what was that mix where it said 'Play it on the radio (radio)' ", and I remembered it was Big Apple Mix! Great Stuff!
At -6:42 a sequence starts with several songs one being Jam On It by Newcleus but can I trouble you for the others? I’ve been wondering that since the 80s. Thank you.
We on the West Coast had Cameron Paul and he did a series called Mixx it. Sadly he passed away about 6-7 years ago, but gave up mixing and djing in the mid 90’s. If you haven’t heard of him, you should check his work. He’s a legend out in the SF Bay Area and huge in tye 80’s and 90’s.
Latin Rascal was the thing in NYC to listen to when your a BreakDancer.Found out this was not Latin Rascal mix here, this been mixed and edited by Tuta and Julio two Brazilian DJ's.
It takes more than one master to do what you guys did latin rascals and friends must continue producing music and this is music club or freestyle but is real music thank you
They had computers. They basically let the studio remix it. (Like a rock band). Also they had studio at KTSU in NYC for the mixshow. They had to pay for the studio time. But yeah genius mashup. 👍🌴
This was not the rascals.. they did use some of it on 98.7 kiss saturday night dance partys. These were edited by a guy named T Aquino i believe. Funny how paco supermix aired these but this man was never mentioned for it. Confused here?
@@hart70 Gotcha,There was some confusion on other mixed records back then,so many were made but at the time nobody cared and just danced. Because of these pioneers,I learned and I still make tapes today at 54 yrs old. Edits, samples and I use old methods no PC stuff!
This megamix was not only mixed by Latin Rascals. Tuta Aquino said that he mixed the Big Apple Mix, he told in an interview that this Big Apple Mix 2 was mixed by 4 people: Latin Rascals (Albert Cabrera & Tony Moran) and Tuta Aquino and his good friend Julinho Mazzey. That Discogs information is wrong.
That is true. I was told that by Albert on my old channel comments. Also Tuta & Julinho did the Big Apple Mix Original. Albert confirmed with a laugh that this guy Mickey was falsely claiming it. ruclips.net/video/N1hicVrmoxU/видео.html
Exactly. the first Big Apple Mix was mixed by Tuta Aquino and his good friend Julinho Mazzei, his pseudonym as a duo was (The Kids From Brazil) The idea of mixing that pirate mix was by the radio program that Julinho Mazzei presented in New York, which had the name of Big Apple Show.

The Latin Rascals were ahead of their time!!!!
I been looking for Shannon Give Me Tonight Bonus Beat since the freaking 80's and here it is, geez...
So it’s only on this and not on Shannon’s 12”?
@jacknjill3000 No it wasn't.

Any idea of the original source for the "is anybody out there? vocoder sample @ 1:33?
Many research hours. Sounds like pink floyd is anybody out there at samples at 45 RPM with a vocoder voice behind it

Note the comment by Tuta below. He, Julio and the Rascals did this. Albert also told me the four of them did it together.
