  • Game camera's (a.k.a. trail camera's) are great tools for us wildlife photographers. We can use them to scout for wildlife photography opportunities. In this two part series I will scout a location where I have a composition in mind. In this first episode I will show you how I scout the location. I will place a trail camera, and return later to see what the results are, and what I need to do for getting the composition I had in mind. Next time I will setup the camera trap for the final photo, and actually get more then I could have hoped for!

I think it's worth the wait Alan. It's off for large format printing as the family want it in the living room :)

I love to play with game cameras to see what's going on. Mine quit a few years back and I never did replace it! I'm sure hat you were able to get the photo that you were wanting!

It's okay to call the device a camera trap. Other names for it are indeed wildlife camera or trailcamera. Within the research world we mainly talk about camera traps when we mean the one you put out in the vlog.

I get confused with the names each time Tim. And when I use the keywords wrong in RUclips, my viewers seems confused also, and number of views go way down... I think in the context of wildlige photography camera traps best refer to using a sensor triggering a DSLR type camera. But I have to be honest and say I have great difficulties being consistent myself :)
