    A nice bridge over the river at Usk, Patrick. The town seems a very pleasant place with some great old buildings, and the castle is of interest, too. When you went up on the hillside, the view was most impressive, looking over to the River Severn. The scene where the reservoir was empty, was amazing with the tower and the supports for the walkway in full view. Many thanks for showing us this lovely area on your walk, Patrick.

      Gray Hill sure has some great views over the Severn. I was really shocked when I visited Wentwood only to find the reservoir completely drained. I would like to return again sometime as I gather the water is filling up now. Glad you enjoyed this Ffranc. As always thanks for watching and commenting 👍

    That was great.
    Congrats on the 100th film and 25 years,I'v just watched them all back to back so it's all passed in six weeks for me,so the fedora and bikers jacket seems very recent to me,I really enjoyed those early films,even at an hour they flew by.
    Great to see the hat make an appearance and that you were suitably all in black,and the early clips with Michael were great too,hoped while watching it that he might have made a little cameo appearance but realise it was hoping too much.
    The film was great and a fitting 100th tribute,the view from Grey Hill was outstanding.
    Congrats to your Mum too beating the Queen to the bridge.
    Thanks Patrick,all the best and well done.
    Pete.

      I'm so glad you liked this Pete. Although my films during 2018 were going to be revisiting some old places for the 25th anniversary I really wanted to make one special film to mark the occasion. It was also coincidence that 2018 would be the year I would reach my 100th film, so I decided that should be the special film. I tried to recreate shots from the very first film from 1993. I would have liked to have featured Michael too, but I think ti might have proved difficult to do now, partly as I live so far away from him now so don't see him very much these days. Thanks again Pete for watching. Cheers, Patrick :)

      I very much enjoyed making this one and wanted to insert those older clips. I have to admit though, without going into details, they caused a great deal of frustrating technical issues when it came to editing, so I was extremely glad when I finally got this finished! :) Thank you Frank and Lee for watching and for your support. Cheers, Patrick :)

    I would like to join everybody else in offering my congratulations on your 100th film Patrick. Well done indeed and it was lovely to have a flashback to those early times as well. You have provided a really great service in showing how lovely the countryside of the UK is to the rest of the world. I hope to join you from my armchair on many more walks in the future...

    Great to hear the story of the Solitary Rambler Patrick. I like the idea of the stealthy wayfarer. It sounds like the locals could have done with being the Solitary Rambler whilst poaching the deer. They would have saved their necks for sure. I do love your stories Patrick. Mum on bridge, hats and all. Mind you it's caps now! The town, wood and views were great but ti was the stories that got me on this one. hey the hat....... Dude! Fantastic video as always. Take care. Mark

    • @solitaryrambler
      @solitaryrambler  6 лет назад +1

      Hey Mark, well the actual story of the Solitary Rambler I told here is fictional. That's because I wanted to pay homage to my very first film from 25 years ago, which was complete fiction, without dismissing or ridiculing it, but poke a little harmless fun at it too if that makes sense! :) Yes I'm proud that Mum was the first woman on the Severn Bridge. She told me that she actually walked up the cables to the towers, which at that time would have been surrounding in a safety mesh, but that not all the sections of road were in place - very brave indeed as I could never have done that! :) Glad you liked that hat! It won't be on another walk now though! :) Good to see your great comments as always Mark, and thanks for watching. All the best. Cheers, Patrick :)

      Oh I see - I thought it was reality. Now that's how well you told it in truth. Good on you're mum - I've walked across that bridge with Paul on the way to Glastonbury. It some kind of structure to walk upon and even more so incomplete. Well, it's goodbye to the hat then. I'm glad I was introduced. A pleasure to watch and comment. Peace out there...

    Llongyfarchiadau, Patrick, as they say here in Wales, 100 not out!!! Another lovely film which I enjoyed thoroughly. What I love about your work is the simplicity and sincerity, the lack of pretentions to sensationalise and a very palpable love of the countryside which I share. Here's to the next 100 :)

    Hello Patrick, how are you, I hope everything is fine. I really liked your video # 100. it's cool that your mother was the first woman to walk on that bridge. She overcame the queen. And I also think Fedora shouldn't have gone out of style. All the best and protect yourself from the corona virus.

    I had no idea that one of your original films was based around a real life situation Patrick.. When you saw your friend Michael walking and then you sending him a letter. ? So he actually decided to go and meet a stranger ? I loved watching that film. Even thought the quality is older it's still very captivating. thanks Patrick.

    • @solitaryrambler
      @solitaryrambler  4 года назад +1

      The very first film was fictional, so the references I made to it in this film were also fictional, just so that the two films could be linked. In my earliest films I used to write a script for them, so Michael's story was all fiction taken from the script I made at the time. Thanks for watching David :)

    How wonderful to see you back there. Where does the time go? The reservoir being drained, fascinating to see how it looks in comparison to 25 years ago. I thought it was a really apt and a fitting homage for the 100th vid, really enjoyed it as always. Thanks so much, i think hats make a refreshing change to see these days, your the wearer who cares what others think, get it on. Applaud your time and effort and i look forward to more of your solitary rambles in the not too distant future.

      Incredible where the time goes isn't it? When I made my very first film in Wentwood it doesn't seem that long ago. It was lovely to be back there, I always planned to return for this special. I was really rather shocked to see no water in the reservoir, but I just had to carry on filming and it was still nice anyway. Thank you as always for your lovely comments and for watching. Cheers, Patrick :)
