Here's my take: the FNAF games always went a long way in merely implying or mentioning horrific events without needing to show them in ultra-graphic detail. Like even the springlock scene, as you brought up, can really be sold mostly in the sound design. He's being killed while wearing a giant exoskeleton anyway, so it's not like you'd be able to see more than maybe some blood splatters.
My hope is that they can really push that one scene (assuming it will happen). I think being more reserved throughout the rest of the movie will make that moment feel even more satisfying and chilling. Ideally it'd be kind of like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, where you have one big scene that REALLY makes use of the rating and leaves a lasting impact.

What made FNAF so good for me was that instead of showing you what was happening, the event was described to you. Kinda surprised Scott didnt want this to be R rated, because the way he has been planning this movie it never seemed like it was just for engagement. Because yes a pg-13 movie does gain more traction. But the passion Scott had for this movie, having years and years go by,made me feel like he’d go that extra mile to really convey those horror elements in fnaf, not saying that he won’t in the movie since it’s not out yet, but he won’t be able to go as far with this age rating. But I hope he does make an R rated cut in the future for other fans which would be cool to see.

Let’s be real, just hearing the victim of the animatronics and knowing what the animatronics are doing can cause the human mind to think of the most disturbing scenes, far more disturbing than whatever can be put on the big screen.
Imagination can be more effective than viewing it

I cannot fathom the delusions of people who thought this movie was going to be rated R. Just even after seeing the trailers, how is there people who still thought this? The franchise implies a lot of dark things, but has always been very kid friendly. People who are actually upset about this are either 12 or just not familiar with the franchise.

@@theceoofeggmansempire5214 they exist. There’s plenty of movies and shows that fall into the category of horror and are still for kids. Goosebumps, scary stories to tell in the dark, monster House, Coraline, anything by Tim burton. Not everything horror related has to have extreme blood and guts. And it’s good that there are things like this that open up the genre to kids, because it would be worse if a nine-year-old was introduced to horror with a movie like saw, or Halloween.

Another reason its PG-13 is so they can make money off of it. If its Rated-R then only older people will go see it since most parents wouldn't let their kids see it.
