because everybody knows if you want water dio, DIY, looks a thousand times better. - chain base tho, is easier more efficient and looks reasonably comparable to DIY.
Or at least used frosted clear blue sheets like those on diffuser screens instead of paper cutouts as inserts. That could also make backlighting them look better.
I think it's pretty cool that Bandai is definitely now getting more into diorama builders' needs. Also... _UNDER DA SEA_ ... 😱 This reminds me of the Little Mermaid worlds in the Kingdom Hearts games. THE HORROR!!!
I just recently built the HG Gogg and Z'gok Mass production types, and they are pretty good kits. I like their designs, and I love some of their features. The Gogg has individual articulated fingers and is a THICC boy The Z'gok has a cool design and it has some cool artictulation
Yaay the white glass table is back. To be honest, I much prefer the atmosphere that comes with the white table as opposed to the newer, darker setup he was using recently.
Obviously they could be better but anything that adds verticality to a diorama is a win in my book. If the new bridge display pieces they have coming out next year work well with these I think it could be really cool to try and recreate the 08th MS team battle in 3 dimensions dynamic where you have water/the bridge & then a gouf flight type in the air above the bridge.
This product seems to make an excellent case for learning to do water effects from 'scratch' (there a bunch of water effect products for diorama building), although those would tend to be for more permanent displays.
A bit of a missed opportunity to see if these would work well with the Figma KanColle figures, but eh, that might be asking too much. These are still nice with underwater mecha.

@@_MARC0_40 I didn't even know that the Atlas was a partly amphibious machine. however, it's not fully amphibious and I like the design of the regular Z'gok more than the Z'gok E.
You can actually mod it by using sticky tac or doublesided tape to remove that gap when using the paper inserts. not bad if you do that. out of box what mecha did would happen, but if you just want to make your scenes/backdrops easier for you, simple mods can fix those issues. a snip here and there should fix the connection issues
They should have a display case (like a rectangular prism) with a transparent front and all the other sides have a solid image of a galaxy, that would be super cool
Say Mecha, how's about a shout out for Hobby Volt and Gundam Junky, both channels putting out as many videos as they can over the festive season. Hobby Volt just shouted you out for your Viewtiful RX-78 Custom. It's only fair right? Nice review. You definitely made the case for More Is Better for these kits. Maybe you even could do something window-like with the blue panels? My first thought, oddly enough, was Gunpla reenactment of the final fight aboard the Vengeful Spirit...
I'd imagine these would look at least a little better if they were painted somewhat. even if it was just some white drybrushed onto the water hexagon part to represent seafoam would make it look a little less artificial than it does out of the box.
Too bad the back panels require the ground base parts; the back panels would be a fansmurfintabulously awesome backdrop of "Spacedock" for those lil' Star Trek miniature ships by Eaglemoss.
Honestly why not try the paper inserts on the backside, so the clear blue is over the image. Might help with the 'watery' effect. Also try the sand bottom plates, maybe angel light coming in from the top and you could make something pretty good looking. Also you could make your own backdrop panels honestly, find a nice ocean floor image and cut it to fit and vuala.
The fact that the back panels have lines and tube-shaped scuplts really feels that Bandai cheaped out and reused it from somewhere. They could've easily made a flat back panel that would look good without the cut-out backdrop
If they would have taken the molded detail out of the pannels it would look better. Or just have the top be supported by clear rods and just a base and top section
I think its more for people who are able to customize not just straight out of the box. I mean so many japanese builders customize everything so it makes sense. Great video tho
I think the hangers should have been blank. other wise you need to either snap all the petrusions or yuse a rotarry tool and then sand all the bannel to give the foggy look under the see. really missid opentonity to make something really cool I really liked the city and dissart land set. the snow not so much because it look like milk sea and not snow tbh.
Water diorama: *exist*
Z'gok and every aquatic MS: It's show time

Abyss:
Mermaid man, would be proud.
You forgot barnicle boy
Teenwolf would be proud of those nails 😂
Aqua man tho?
Man ray!
You forgot Ocean man.
Should've made those walls just clear blue with some air bubbles or something, seems like Bandai was cutting corners
Or at least used frosted clear blue sheets like those on diffuser screens instead of paper cutouts as inserts. That could also make backlighting them look better.
Agree. Bubbles would be nice. I would've been fine if it was flat, but they just had to reuse an old part and it's disappointing
Or just clear blue panels.
@@terreausore2435 Bandai kits are fairly cheap, I don't blame them for it honestly.
@@terreausore2435 Still one of the best companies in the game though. Especially considering their prices.
5:47 your GBO2 teammate on any aquatic map in a non-aquatic MS.
who lives in a base under the sea?

I love seeing underwater mecha and with the 30 minute missions portanova marine type that came out a while back, this is a must get one I get it.

The base frame in clear blue didn't look so bad in the final shot.
Like in the anime everything under water appear blue.
12:03 Notice that the HG Baund Doc looks like it's facepalming here because of how half-baked these bases are.
This base would be perfect for a Tanjiro/Giyu figure or even for God Gundam in Clear Mirror Still Water pose
I love the aesthetics of the water with the deep blue and polygonal appearance. :3
Really think the walls should be just plain clear with no texture or a wavy water texture

Yes the legendary glass table again

I think if the card thing goes behind the clear part, it will make a cool underwater window...
