    Being rich or poor is mostly down to dumb luck of where you were born. I might have advanced degrees, a nice tech job, and suburban house in the US, but I was born poor in the Philippines. Luckily my parents had just enough money, the opportunity and the foresight to emigrate to the US back in the 70's. I look at these videos and think that could easily have been my life and I'm thankful for the decisions and luck my family had decades ago. On the flip side, there's a lot of life and activity here.

    • @JoeVoll-wg2zg
      @JoeVoll-wg2zg 2 месяца назад +6

      I wouldn't call that luck. I bet your parents worked hard and sacrificed a lot to get your family to a place that provided opportunities for a better life.

    • @vaughnwilliams1208

      There's many rich people in Philippines, these are places where poor workers live but they are not slums

      And your grandfather fought for better wages and stopped the robber barons from stealing all the money , filipinos and their "bahala na" attitude never did that

    • @Phrancis5
      @Phrancis5 2 месяца назад +7

      @@JoeVoll-wg2zg Of course they worked hard, sacrificed, and tried to make good decisions, but so do most poor struggling families. However, most don't have paths to college or a relative that can sponsor emigration, and any number of opportunities, which can also be called luck. My point is life isn't fair - it's not a level playing field, and not as much of a meritocracy as we were raised to believe. The vast majority of wealthy folks are rich because of generational wealth and the connections/opportunities not available to most. Actual self-made millionaires are rare - especially outside of tech.

      It's the same exact thing in the USA. Everyone is in there homes slaves to there phones and computers. The bright side of this video is that kids aren't stuck inside the house being slaves to video games or computers and smartphones. Kids in the usa these days hardly leave there bedrooms. The average American male no matter what age lives like a castrated caged animal 😂😂😂😂😂. These people in this video actually have a blessed life and they don't even know it. This is life as a human being helping each other survival like it use to be in the USA before technology and smartphones ruined man kind.

      Where would they put it? Their government does not provide trash dumpsters for them. The government cares nothing about these people. But, a few do pick up plastic to sell at a recycle center, so they can get enough money to buy rice and fish for the day.

      They do clean up, and pile it up, but nothing happens to it, because local government ignores these areas of informal living. It spreads again, regular, even daily flooding redistributes trash everywhere. That's the short answer.

      Sa aking opinyon mas maganda tumira rito kung marunong kang makisama magiging masaya ka at magkakaroon ka ng maraming kaibigan. Matototo kang kumilatis sa ibat ibang uri ng tao. Kulang ang epokrito rito sa buhay. Mamahalin mo ang lugar na ito kung galing ka sa maralitang buhay. Kaysa titira ka sa isang subdivision, boring , walang pakialam mga kapitbahay. Ang mga bata takot palabasin ng bahay. D2 ang mga bata kung titingnan masaya sila nakikisalamuha sa mga kapwa bata.

      The authorities are living in spacious homes that take up land maybe 50 of these homes, behind gated communities and high rises, on fat salaries and dare I say more than a little corruption. Efforts are made, to redevelop these areas but millions of people cannot be rehoused in one day, week or even decade.
