"FATMA SULTANA TRIED TO KILL ME" Magnificent Century Episode 130: • Video
Hürrem blames Suleiman embittering the fight between Selim and Bayezid. As Bayezid chases up the ones who has set a trap for him, Selim gets worried that he'll get disclosed. Suleiman confiscates Mahidevran's wealth because she has supported the revolt. Hürrem brings Selim to account after she learns that he has set the trap for Bayezid. Meanwhile, Fatma plays Nurbanu and Huricihan off against each other and turns the harem upside down. Suleiman orders that Kara Ahmed will be executed since he has taken up the revolt. Someone witnesses Gazanfer's love for Nurbanu that causes to be shed blood. Hürrem takes a vow to not to choose between his sons and chooses her nominee for throne.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

Although I was saddened that the old actress had to be replaced. I feel like this one really gave justice to the role, you could really sense power and maturity in her. She's a great actress and can convey strength even in most silent moments.

Notice that with Mustafa death things settled down and the women got along better (except Mahidevran and Fatma with Hurrem). Gulfem stopped being hostile, the harems if the princes and Suleiman were quiet (mostly). The problem was that everyone was backing the next sultan while Suleiman was alive and well.

Tbh I think people don’t realize. She’s not a witch nor did she bewitch those men.
They’d never laid eyes on her. When you see the face of someone you thought was pure evil and realize that you not only might have been wrong, but that the person is even more beautiful and regal than you first imagined it can do something to you.
She’s definitely enchanting, which is what Suleiman fell for, but she’s no witch. Unfortunately for her, the rumors of her stopping men dead in their tracks isn’t going to help her at all.

@@kassyqueen8089 yeah real historical Hurrem too was charismatic, but never beautiful. Historical sources/Ambassadors describe her as short, slightly chubby woman, with long red hair, roman nose, pale skin, green eyes and thin lips. But she was very intelligent, joyful and witty, also deeply religious. She loved embroidery, music, poetry. That’s why Suleiman fell in love and stayed in love with her always.

@@kassyqueen8089 True, it was never about beauty. Because in real history too, the older Hurrem got the more Suleiman’s admiration grew for her.
“Bassano, an Italian visitor to Suleyman’s court, claimed that “he (the Sultan) loved, respected and highly valued his wife (Roxolana) and understood her native language to some extent.”
The Sultan became faithful to Hurrem whose main asset was her mind. She was able both to entertain the Sultan with clever and witty talk and give good and sound advices. “
“As Trevisano wrote in 1554, once Suleiman had known Roxolana - not only did he want to have her as a legitimate wife and hold her as such in his seraglio, but he did not even want to know any other woman: something that had never been done by any of his predecessors, for the Turks are accustomed to take various women in order to have children by them, or for carnal pleasure. Suleiman the Magnificent remained true to Hurrem and spent time with no other women. He was devoted to his queen Hürrem Sultan with great love dedicating her poems and gazelles and showering her with gifts. That was not an ordinary thing to see in the Ottoman Empire. “
So it was all about her 🧠 and personality. Every woman wishes to be loved like that.

Gulfem Hatun had a VERY IMPORTANT POINT.
Mahidevran Sultan (Hatun) and Haseki Hurrem Sultan had a reason to fight. Their sons lives were on the line and after the way they treated each other, how could they know for sure their son(s) would survive if the others took the Throne?
Mahidevran was in love but conducted herself poorly, the Sultan fell in love with someone else and she reacted as some women might, but he wasn't a thing and she was just a concubine, not his wife. She retaliated by beating and poisoning and verbally, then Hurrem became a favourite and soon it became war.
There was no turning back once Hurrem Sultan realised that her children were at risk.
Ibrahim Pasha's death, he brought on all by his lonesome! Se asked for it begged for it and the Lion 🦁 are it's "Tamer"
After Mahidevran's son was lost there really is no reason to fight with Haseki Hurrem Sultan anymore. NONE. After that you're basically harming your DYNASTY.
All these Sehzade and Sultana had terrible aunties and mothers (Hatice Sultan I'm looking at you, thankfully not in history)

The real Hürrem died at 52, however, this new actress looks MUCH older than that! What an insult! Apparently, Meryem, the original actress left the show to undergo treatment for burnout and depression. I also read that she was paid less than all the other principal actors and actresses (i.e. the actors and actresses who played Süleyman, Ibrahim Pasha, Hatice Sultana and Hafsa Sultana all received higher salaries than she did). At least they should have hired an age appropriate actress to replace her. As I mentioned, the real Hürrem died at around 52 and since Ukrainian/Russian women seem to retain their youthful looks much longer than women of many other ethnicities (for example, many Russian/Ukrainian women in their late forties, look no older than 30) , Hürrem would have still looked young and beautiful right up until her death. The new actress, however, looks older than Sūleyman! It is a real insult to Hürrem and I have already decided to stop watching the series when the new actress takes over the role. Just looking at her makes me angry. The real Hürrem would have had the director executed. The other criticism of the series I have is that the real Hürrem used to regularly advise Süleyman on state matters, including foreign policy and war strategies. However, in the show she is only interested in the politics which affect her and her children. She is never shown advising Süleyman on any state matter. This is also an insult to the real Hürrem. Sūleyman actually called Hürrem his "advisor" and one of the main reasons he fell in love with her, freed her and married her was her remarkable ability to advise him on state matters, including those matters pertaining to war and foreign policy. She was, in fact, extremely intelligent and knowledgeable. Finally, the harem was still located in the old palace during Süleyman's reign. Only Hürrem and her children lived in the new, Topkapi Palace and her rooms were just next door to Süleyman's.
