I am a white man whose first concert was Bob Marley at the Harvard Coliseum. We rode our little bikes over the fence because there is no way I am not seeing Bob Marley. I may never get a chance to see him again. I hugged Winston Rodney, tripping on windowpane acid, at the Lone Star Cafe, when my girlfriend was cheating on me and generally driving me cuckoo. I saw Peter Tosh and Steel Pulse at Espace Balard. I saw a Black Uhuru concert at UVM that remains my fave, Sly&Robbie carrying the day (or night). Reggae music speaks to me like the Celtic music of my youth, the joy of liberation. Jimmy Cliff is my favorite living human being. We sit in limbo, praying for better days. Thank you Peter Hill, for being Peter Hill.

I love Lucky Dube's songs and his music; but I also love his voice; his beautiful, amazing, unforgettable voice. And, he reminds me of Peter Tosh in a very eerie way. To me, their voices are quite similar, and sadly they are both deceased. Bang! Peter Tosh was gone; and later down the road: Bang! Lucky Dube was gone. Two great talents were wiped out, but thank Goodness, we can still enjoy their music.
