Thank you for sharing your experiences; I especially appreciate tying your own experience with grief to how Jared's brother might have been feeling. I've been hurt so badly by someone close to me over the past 3 years that I appreciate, in a small measure, your experience with grief. It helps me understand how this scripture story, which doesn't seem to make as much sense as we would like it to, and how it might have affected Mahonri Moriancumr. I think almost all of us are struggling with very difficult issues in these latter days, and we need this kind of understanding of scripture to help us get by.

The words “The State of Deseret” are carved on one of the stones representing each of the states found inside the Washington Monument in D.C. Someone obviously took the Saints’ choice for the name of their proposed state name seriously!

    Hi Sister Anderson,
I really enjoyed hearing this today! I have a question about being a Gentile. I don’t like being thought of as a Gentile because I’m part of the House of Israel. I’m from the tribe of Ephraim. It bothers me so much to be called a Gentile and I realize it shouldn’t, but if we refer to Lehi’s progenitors as being part of the House of Israel (and even at the end they were a literal mixture of Manasseh and Ephraim and still are) then why are just the Ephraimites given the name of Gentiles ? Is it because they fell away, were scatters from the northern kingdoms, and forgot who they were? This is probably a complicated thing to explain here. Love your insights. Thank you!
