These kids are not afraid of their parents, and they think because their parents don't discipline them that no one else will. The amount of privalege it takes to act this way is honesty insane.

When my now 45 yr old stole from a store he worked at as a teen, I marched him back the next day, met with his supervisor & made him tell him why we were there, return the stolen item & apologize. He was so embarrassed & was let go. End of discussion. He understood that actions & choices have consequences. Today he's an amazing husband, father & upstanding member of the community working with youth. He's respected because he was taught respect & accountability. It's starts in the home.

Yup. I thought I was above the law as a teen as well. When I was 17 my friend and I took a tip jar from a restaurant. I was parked down the street to avoid anyone catching my license plate but the owner of the restaurant was smart enough to subtly follow us in his truck. He pulled up next to us at a red light and said “you guys stole from my restaurant” (he’s pretty badass now that I look back at it) my heart dropped and I stepped on the gas all the way home. Of course I knew it was over at that point because he saw my license plate so as soon as I got home, I told my dad what I did and to expect the cops to show up at our door. Sure enough they were there 20 minutes later. My dad didn’t even bother getting up from the couch after I opened the door, he simply said “hi officer, do what you gotta do.” The officer let me know the owner wasn’t interested in pressing charges he just wanted the money back (it was a really big jar) the officer asked me to show her where the money is, I brought her to my room as her partner spoke with my dad in the living room, I’m assuming my dad didn’t think that was enough justice so he told the officer to put me in cuffs and make me personally deliver it and apologize to the owner and staff for taking their money. I have not ran into the law ever since that day !
