Always clean the engines when replacing the timing chains

What engine? FWD? Did you pull it for another car or did you need to pull it for timing?

timing chain replacement, but I always pulled out the entire engine and transmission to reseal both and replace the filter inside the transmission and fixed the pressure switches in the tcm, those are the most common issues with these vehicles. GM 3.6L engine

what did you do to prevent water from getting inside the engine?

Leave the spark plus in and remove the camshafts, the valves will spring back and shut off completely making it impossible for the water to in.

What chemicals did you use on it?

I used purple power degreaser.
