As someone who takes great pride in clearing trails i found this to be an excellent video, I have logged my hours with a saw on some pretty crazy terrain so i thought I'd share some tips. When hauling a larger saw (ms290, ect) add a few psi to the front tire to stop washouts. When adding bar oil don't spill it all over the saw, it will leak down onto your front brake and cause issues. Always use the saw scabbard, more so for other riders safety. When making your own saw mount, have the saw as close to the bike as possible, the closer it is the less it affects handling.
Triston, sucks... feel ya.. actually got close to 50F in iowa today... couldda terrorized the neighbors, but of course i have the bike torn apart for maintenance.. so i just sat on it and watched this vid lol..
that's it... I've lost all respect for you and you gumby videos.... KTM AND HANDLING are autonomous with the word SHIT... I recently rode a KTM (all 2017) 500, 350 and 300 back to back over 150km... they all handled the same... terrible... the front suspension is rubbish... and for you to say it handle not to bad is a lie ha ha ha ... that chain saw would have improved the handling out of sight but it wouldn't have reach 'not bad' status lol... keep up the good work
it is cool of course...but since u're riding HARD ENDURO..why would you modify the nature...or the track?...it has to be hard ..pull or push the bike anmd so on...(of course this is just my opinion ) :D
Wanna hit some 80 foot doubles to demonstrate how secure it is? ms170 brilliant little saw mine was 350 new and lives in my ute with Toucan fuel/lube container. check them out from Taylor's engineering in Blenheim.
There's something strangely appealing to me about going into the woods on a bike to saw logs. Maybe it's the mix of 2 smoke exhaust and wood chip smells
Cool. I was just thinking a few days ago... how am I gonna make a chainsaw bracket for my yz250. Looks simple enough. Every time I ride my sportsman 1000xp without a saw I find downed trees. When I bring the saw.. no downed trees or a whole bunch... ride with tools and maintain our trail systems. You would not believe the lazy fuckers up here in Ontario Canada. Very few try. Most just smash a new trail around downed trees. Friggin sad....
Are these made for CRF 250R or can any model fit that you know about, it would be a good idea for my mate who hosts enduro rides so trail making is easier
mostly the private properties of a few guys i have come to know the past three years, allyson. it's great not having to worry about head ons with unknown riders.
this is a very nice mount for back handle saws. but requires a little more work to put on and off than the one I'm using. have a look at the trail tech chainsaw mount which is rubber strap mounted just like a headlight so it goes on and off in seconds. the downside is that it only fits the STIHL 192/193 top handle saws which are a little pricey but weigh only 8 lbs.
we did look at the trail tech too, and included that in the video description text and where we've posted this vid to forums. the trail tech is a bit cheaper and comes and off faster. but we have two different chainsaws so the trail fast works better as it can take both.
another plus for the trail fast is that the small back handle saws tend to be cheaper than the "professional" grade top handles. but if you already own a STIHL 192/193 the trail tech mount is great!
I made a little alloy box up front to hold 2 liters of fuel , secateurs and folding saw on beta evo . but we carry the little 12" ozito chain saw from bunnings is only 3.5 kg and will cut anything we come across day pack gets very heavy with the saw , saw fuel , 3 liters of drink and lunch . very cool someone is making a mount for a saw i think , we find it a little easier to use the trails bike over the enduro bikes for scouting out new stuff
neat bracket. I've got a stil 170 saw. this bracket looks like a better way to go then the conventional saw holders for atvs. I'm gonna make my own for my sportsman 1000xp
Looks like a cool setup I usually just throw my Stihl MS200T in a small backpack and giver! Would be nice to have an old Honda XL with electric start, beer holder etc dedicated for the seasonal trail clean ups! 😄👍
hmm after giving this some thought, I could actually make it legit! there is volunteer trail maintenance at many mtb trails. at mine, fallen trees might stay for quite a while in the deeper parts of the trails, since I presume they currently walk in and out with saws as atvs are too wide and damage the trail. well shit I ought to make it happen
some guys here topside in washington state use this chainsaw mount as they ride logging areas where trails are blocked every ride. never thought it was a thing they bought, but apparently it is? nice!
i reckon this would have to be the mount for serious trail clearing... there are lighter cheaper options that come on and off faster but this thing just doesn't budge no matter how hard you ride in between cutting logs. :)
cool idea , I could have done with that yesterday to cut the tree down that jumped out on me again ! and made me head butt it 😣 pesky trees . Have you done a video about what's the best helmets and other protective gear ?
CROSS TRAINING ENDURO SKILLS .thanks just checked out the video on 6d helmet, haven't heard of those here in the UK but leatt do one that looks like it , but will check these out as I had an off the other day and went into a tree head first , I came off worse than the tree so looking at a new helmet. keep the vids comming love them 😎
if you can't afford the leatt i'd recommend getting something with a variable or dual density liner at an absolute minimum. it doesn't have to cost a lot nowadays either.
CROSS TRAINING ENDURO SKILLS thanks , the leatt is about £280 so not to bad , going to have a look at one .my encounter with the tree wasn't a high speed one so I was surprised how much it hurt so want as much protection as poss.
he'll be running this with the cover, he just needs to make a little strap to hold it in place. i can't see this as a reason not to buy a mount, you would need to do this with the trailtech or promoto billet mounts too.
While not suitable for the really big stuff, I found a reciprocating saw to work very well. Quick release means the blade comes off effortlessly so you can just chuck it in a backpack and carry it with you along with a few batteries. I've cut plenty of trees about the size of the one shown at the start of the video without any worries whatsoever. Takes all of about 10-20 seconds to get through it. The thing I liked about the reciprocating saw is the safety aspect. They don't kick back and if you did somehow slip and get in the path of the blade it will stop very quickly. Oh and no need for ear muffs
that looks perfect for the small stuff, aidan. and of course it wouldn't affect the handling of the bike at all. unfortunately in our case the log in the vid was a tiny one so the big chainsaw is a must.... it's quite common to have two foot diameter trees across the track after a good storm.
In that case you're still doing it wrong, if you insist on a petrol chainsaw you need to cut off one hand and mount it to your arm ash williams style. Saves on the need for any pesky bike mounts, and gets you bonus points with the women too! (why this wasn't featured in the video I have no idea, isn't the obvious chainsaw mount?)
i think there would be a lot of interest around those parts cole, i was super impressed at how many clubs and riders get organized and maintain their tracks over there!

fuck you're really pumping these things out
too hot to ride, may as well edit
Fucking snowing here! Missing my bike!
Triston Charge decent riding weather here if you're OK with riding in the rain. Too bad Houston has fuck all for shit to ride on.
like lizards down there...more heat more activity
Triston, sucks... feel ya.. actually got close to 50F in iowa today... couldda terrorized the neighbors, but of course i have the bike torn apart for maintenance.. so i just sat on it and watched this vid lol..
Ok. Now, where can i buy bike for my chainsaw?)))

the best therapy you can get
Check out Joey Mack for more short shorts riding inspiration.
we only just came across sir mack a few months ago... an inspiration for all shorts wearing riders.
That would also make a superb auxiliary motor if you could hook it up to the front wheel.
Yes, and improve the sound of any 4 strokes at the same time. This is the future man.
woohoo. sounds like the christini AWD.... www.christini.com/
Hahahaa love the background music, lmfao from the movie Deliverance.... " Squeel like a pig " - classic, chaps n underwear , hilarious.
It's pretty obvious when we've gone off our meds, Lyle... 😂
JoeyMac420 on youtube. Awesome dirt riding in the California hills, great trials cross riding skills.
about an hour ago i really could have used 1 of those
Beers are the answer! what was the question agaim....
A good possible dirt bike review in the future Honda CRF230F. Your brain will shrink though :(
i don't know if they could shrink any further in our case, john. i can't see a 230 review, it's just so outside of the riding we do. :(

info on this was in the vid
I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay.....
Wonder if you could hook the chainsaw motor to the front wheel :P 2WD anyone haha
that is cool as fuck..I want one haha
I have always wondered this! But, those trails you ride, is it your property or do you go off somewhere to ride??
mostly the private properties of a few guys i have come to know the past three years, allyson. it's great not having to worry about head ons with unknown riders.
Mount 2 side by side on the front so you don't even need to stop. Just slow down and it will cut it off on either side. Just don't go over the bars
how awesome would that be? kind of like a dirt bike version of the batmobile with that power saw built into the front fender.
this is a very nice mount for back handle saws. but requires a little more work to put on and off than the one I'm using.

We use trials bikes for cutting . maby i need to whip up one of these , but i all ready carry my fuel up front hmmmm
interesting, you would really notice the weight with the lighter bike. they say the stihl 192 is the lightest saw for this kind of thing.
I made a little alloy box up front to hold 2 liters of fuel , secateurs and folding saw on beta evo . but we carry the little 12" ozito chain saw from bunnings is only 3.5 kg and will cut anything we come across day pack gets very heavy with the saw , saw fuel , 3 liters of drink and lunch . very cool someone is making a mount for a saw i think , we find it a little easier to use the trails bike over the enduro bikes for scouting out new stuff

hahaha i think is the best, funniest, and crazy video you ever made! Congratulations you make my week a better one!
i think the heat is driving us a bit batty over here :D
Look out it's the sixth new band member of the retro Village People.
all together now, y m c a........
I am a noob at dirt bikes what would be a good cheap but slower dirt bike for a twelve year old.
Get a second hand, 80cc four-stroke pitbike. It's cheap, not too fast, not too big.
Looks like a cool setup I usually just throw my Stihl MS200T in a small backpack and giver! Would be nice to have an old Honda XL with electric start, beer holder etc dedicated for the seasonal trail clean ups! 😄👍
wow an electric start beer holder, i'm going to be dreaming about that tonight for sure :D
haha 'and' beer holder lol
4stroke back mountain
Very top this trail.Congratulation bro
This would be a good excuse for riding the hiking and biking trails. Officer I swear, I ride purely out of public service!
fake rangers uniforms, a note from our mums explaining what we are doing.... it would have to work.
hmm after giving this some thought, I could actually make it legit! there is volunteer trail maintenance at many mtb trails. at mine, fallen trees might stay for quite a while in the deeper parts of the trails, since I presume they currently walk in and out with saws as atvs are too wide and damage the trail. well shit I ought to make it happen
I still can't help but feel like it is dangerous having it there, even though I am sure it is fine.
Trailtech chainsaw mount for me. I like the rubber headlight straps that allow it to float a little bit, and I've only lost one scabbard.
Just use Spikes and you don't even need a chainsaw ;)
Cuts through wood like butter!
Awesome! Now all I need as a Pumpkin or Italian princess :D
So much better that stowing your saw in a back pack or trying to lash it to a fender!
zut, it's january, if only I had known a few weeks earlier...
How cool is that!!!
what ??not even a husqvarna saw??? cmon barry! Just kidding
hehe, i think i did work one into the old two stroke vs four stroke vid though!
It's funny for me :P
look, first bike with both 2 and 4 strokes :-)
Please tell me you've tried the saw while riding?
some guys here topside in washington state use this chainsaw mount as they ride logging areas where trails are blocked every ride. never thought it was a thing they bought, but apparently it is? nice!

Save your money and get a Katanaboy!
Highly recommended.
hahah good video
DO you know if they send those to NZ? I know we should be able to punch our way through logs, but that is just a myth. =)
they send them here, i figure they must post worldwide.....
Had no clue this was a possibility, but could use it for sure. Great video!
That's cool. I suddenly need a chainsaw, so i can get this. Haha!
the miracle of consumerism, sneeuw... creating desire where formerly there was none! :D
"brokeback mountain butt disclaimer" ... ha !
I like to ride a motorcycle, and work with chainsaw
That right there...is my dream come true. That is way cool.
2-stroke chainsaw and 4-stroke bike? :o
cool idea , I could have done with that yesterday to cut the tree down that jumped out on me again ! and made me head butt it 😣 pesky trees . Have you done a video about what's the best helmets and other protective gear ?
quite a few jonny ruclips.net/video/vf7Ls_mZCs4/видео.html

Ha.. never thought of it that way. its something new.
Put your pants on, ya gumby! Great review...
should be a law against those chaps with no pants... at least for straight guys lol
they look like joey mac... short shorts
you do us a great honor.... now if we could just ride like joey too lol
Not good having the chainsaw blade expose because the sand acts like Brett and wears down the chain and bar DONT BUY ONE!!
he'll be running this with the cover, he just needs to make a little strap to hold it in place. i can't see this as a reason not to buy a mount, you would need to do this with the trailtech or promoto billet mounts too.

please, make a video about how to ride in Snow without Snow tires or what to take with yourself when u r going to ride :)
Filip Židuljak he has a vid about tools I think. Would be kind of hard to make a snow video in the middle of summer in australia
Justin F didnt know they are from Australia, sorry
Filip Židuljak not much so riding going on down here in Australia mate, lot of mud and dust though.
Filip Židuljak here's a vid I made here in Canada a little while back :) hope you don't mind Barry?
go for it kevan. i can't fit my bike inside the freezer so have no idea what snow riding is like. :(
Fricken hot is right....keep em coming Barry...love your work.
you're not wrong david. 29C at 4.30am the other day with my iced coffee in front of the fan.
loving the consistency
crazy chain 🤗
what about shotgun bracket review? is it comming?
that would be a tricky one, none of us own guns doukan.... even the guys with properties. :(
Gotta get one of these for the PNW
i think there would be a lot of interest around those parts cole, i was super impressed at how many clubs and riders get organized and maintain their tracks over there!
They ripped off spanky from joeymac
can't rip off someone we never heard of. we only found out about joeymac recently when someone said one of guys was similar.
Oh whoops either way its still funny keep up the great videos 👍🏻
