I think they love him because he changes s.f.a of a song, whereas other producers try and insert themselves too much of their taste/opinion. It’s really REALLY hard to make it there in the city if you are from OTP (outside the perimeter). The stigma amongst the elitist inside the perimeter is really aggressive. I played in bands and even getting gigs inside wasn’t as easy. They always took the groups from Decatur and inside the village before anyone in Cobb county. Where's he from?
Cobb County
@@MrVisdeSays Wikipedia...lol
I’m never gonna let Rubin record my songs 😊
Probably won’t have anything to worry about there unless you get huge first, because he’s not exactly out here scouting talent in 2024.
Yeah, me neither. 😅
I love when people come from places like Michigan to Alabama (For the 1st Time) and find out our dirt roads are in better shape, than their interstate 😊
Dirt roads in upstate n.y. aren't great. They typically require maintenance. Maintenance may or may not happen.
I think saying dirt roads are better than paved roads proves someone's point.
Take a ride through Michigan and you will see more confederate flags than in all of the south.
Alabama is the poorest place I've ever seen. Houses in Selma look like they're made out of cardboard boxes.
@PattyKakes7787 well that's Selma (might as well be in Mississippi) 🤣 it's alot different in Auburn, Huntsville, etc
..
Chris is interesting to listen to! Still glad there are bans around that respect their roots!
Yeah, most northerners think southerners are stupid.
If the shoe done fits ....
I lived in Memphis for 21 years and now I've lived in Pittsburgh for 5, the 10 worst/dumbest people I've met have been in the last 5 years do idk. Southerners are mean to groups and stereotype people, northerners are just flat out mean to each other as people which is worse imo.
@@seltonk5136How's those blue states working out for ya?
Arrogance has always been frowned upon polite society, and 3/4 of this country wouldn’t know polite if it bit em in the arse.
Im from Detroit and I've found southerners are as sharp as anybody, and in MOST cases, more down to earth !
Lmao.
Grew up in Cobb Co.
Marietta is NOT really Atlanta, but parts of it used to be.
Me too. He tries to change his origin story.
I looked it up, counting crowes are from LA
Rick had come from hip hop. I imagine Ric looked at N.w.a applied to same kind of reasoning to rock.
Filling Vanguard owned prisons ?
No chance Rick actually recommended this band name. He is full if shit.
C C C ...woulda been fine! 😅 This is gunna be a good pod
Shake Your Moneymaker was the best album of the ‘90s.
Umm no
I’d argue it was Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. I loved Soundgarden, STP and Nirvana as well, but that Crowes album was spiritual and positive (albeit with some darkness), and that makes it remain an amazing experience decades later.
I just listened to Southern Harmony in its entirety this morning for the first time in years. It's their Best album.
@@WilliamClark-uj1uo that lineup of the Black Crowes (with Marc Ford and Eddie Harsch) for my money might be the best "rock and roll" band ever... It was like lightning in a bottle, and they were fantastic! The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion has been one of my top 5 albums, since I initially bought it the day it came out :)
Still a pretty fowl name.
Foul, but yes.

I’m from Georgia, close to Atlanta. Love the Crowes and grew up listening to them, still love the first two albums. What Rick said isn’t excusable, but he isn’t racist. He is one of the legends and has produced countless classic albums, and helped define Rap as a genre. Everyone says something dumb in their lives and this is one of them, for sure. But Chris has said quite a few dumb things also.
Rubin has somehow made a living laying on couches and occasionally showing up for work. Baffles me.
Walton High School is in a pretty affluent part of the county. Lots of lawyers and doctors around here.
Where I went to high school 🤘
Super affluent.
@@STELLASCUTENESS Click translate how did that went lol

Just for clarity, there’s many people that have worked with Rick Rubin and absolutely despise him. Others that love him. I can see where he’d be an extremely obnoxious person. But, the results speak for themselves.
I think they love him because he changes s.f.a of a song, whereas other producers try and insert themselves too much of their taste/opinion. Which, if they are actually music geniuses can make songs 10x better. But if your a band wanting direction and a third party to help you.. he's dogshit and then gets a producing cut of the album
@@TheDarkhorse82 Rick Rubin is a fake genius. He's an over-paid windbag that knows fuck all aside from getting the Beastie Boys to market. His opinion has been drastically overrated for decades.
And everyone who has crossed paths with Chris Robinson says he’s an insufferable , unprofessional shit head.
It's a good thing Chris never mentioned not even once the entire time that they were from Atlanta....
He can say what he wants. Where you are from isn’t always where you are born.. They all went to high school down the street from me in EAST COBB COUNTY.. one of the wealthiest counties in the state. I was born in Atlanta but went to school in Marietta before going back to Atlanta.. that doesn’t make me from ATL. I grew up and spent my formative years OTP.
That the funny thing about Atlanta. So hearing a multi-millionaire still trying to defend and say he is from Insidde when its obvious he isn’t and wasn’t growing up is comical
At least Rick Rubin didn't make those offensive comments on the radio or a pod cast💜
Chris Got Guts gotta love the outfit and the charismatic behavior
Nothing about this dude screams “goober” to you?
His band is my third favorite crow band behind Counting and Sheryl.
Amen! Those guys in Sheryl Crow really rock! The lead singer has a sexy and seductive type of voice, almost feminine
Haha that’s the best comment I’ve ever seen 👍
The black crows are 10 times better than both of those.
That doesn't do much to inspire confidence in your taste in music...
Learn to spell.
Another lifetime ago (I'm almost 50 now) my R&B Hip-Hop group of mixed race teens and 20 somethings wanted to call ourselves the Kool Kolored Kidz. It was frowned upon by the establishment...many establishments. Can tell you first hand that both Lou Pearlman and Diddy are who you think they are.
What city are they from?

We all get that southern sympathy and fear. I moved back to Nashville from LA and LA people were concerned for me. One even asked if the roads were paved… in 2012
Someone named their restaurant close to where I grew up, "Karen's Kountry Kitchen".
@Aaron-rk5kl the difference here, they are usually diet racists. They likley didn't realize, are more a fan of alliteration and bad life choices. LOL
They were all over the place when America was a nice country. Total coincidence, I'm sure.
What are the chances you're from Ontario?
@jeffwood3764 lived there for a couple of decades, unless you mean in California, but this was in the Maritimes of Canada. LOL

There's a perfect balance between education and entertainment.
It's so true that some ignorant northerners think we're all some backwoods, country sounding, racist, gun toting trailer trash. It couldn't be further from the truth. I'm from North Louisiana. I bought the clash London falling when I was 14. Granted I did but it with my job bailing hay in the summer but that album was everything to me. Still is. I started playing guitar bc of that. Just because I grew up with cows in my back yard doesn't mean Im anything like the stereotype. I moved to Seattle when I was 18 and went to culinary school and became a chef.
You're right to a point but when i was in the miltary and a buddy and me stopped for a bear in a local bar we were asked to leave.
And im assuming its because we both had NJ accents and italian last names.
Not to minimize Rick’s stupid suggestion, but Chris seems to be easily offended, it wouldn’t take much to light his candle, and I could see him becoming so hard to handle. 🤔
My friend Mike was at a bar in Hollywood with a friend one time. This guy came into the bar and was apparently a colossal asshole. The night ended with the friend punching this dude in the face lol.
Perhaps Chris is easily offended. But if someone doesn't take it as fucked up to change your life's work to overlap with a hate group, you might be mentally deficient.
But you are minimizing the stupid statement. And it's pretty easy to connect the dots about why you would do such a thing as you claim you do not want to do it.
He’s from Atlanta, Georgia.
because of The Black Crowes I learn how to play "Natural Harmonics."
Saw The Black Crowes on club tour opening for Junkyard before Shake your money maker came out. Knew they would be huge.
