    I hung with the band when they opened for Aerosmith in Alpine Valley they came down to Chicago and were outside the Kingston Mine bar, nobody recognized them. I had just seen them on MTV the day before and I walked up to Chris and he was so excited to be recognized. My group them a couple beers and they bought us some. I bet ya Chris remembers that moment. 💯

      My story very much so. Have moved extensively as a child and an adult. Always and forever the outsider. At 72 I moved to a tiny little town, found a perfect little home to take me into the last phase of my puttering life. I laugh because I am all but ostracized because the locals cannot/will not grasp why, she - never I, would move here. Makes me laugh. All my previous life experience has thought me that at this stage, it’s all about me on my terms. I love ‘em but they would never understand that.

    He's leaving out Rubin's reasoning as well - he wanted therm to change the name from Black Crowes because "Black Crows" was a nickname of the SS Einsatzgruppen that followed the frontline troops into Russia and sis all of the mass killings and stuff. He suggested the KKK name when he felt pushback, he said if you are willing to keep that you might as well be KKK and so on....

    I remember seeing these hippies every day for two weeks in Nashville when they were recording part of their first Album. I was a kid then and saw several bands in and out of that Studio. They were the only one of one hundred bands I saw back then that made it. The Black Crows weren't even the best band I saw back then. It just goes to show Music is an industry. It makes no difference how good you are... you have to play the game.

    I live in Malden, MA. My grandfather used to go to this little place named Giorgio's every day for coffee. They closed down a few years after my grandfather passed away and reopened as "Kevin Kozy Kitchen". I couldn't believe it. They had actually changed the C to a K to do it. Then one day the owner was standing outside and me and my friend walked by and he yelled across the street "YOU BOYS EVER TRIED GOAT?!"... He was a giant black dude

    I was in a band 20-some years ago and we were rehearsing in North Hollywood and a new band was rehearsing next door named 'Audioslave'. We found out who they were and were then 'instructed' by the owner of the facility 'do NOT acknowledge or speak to any of them'. By the next day we were shootin' the shit with the band...and they were all super cool...especially Tom Morello and Brad Wilk. Found out from Tom that those instructions came from Rubin. I don't know anyone in the industry that actually likes him.

      I saw The Black Crowes (the real line-ups) 44 times. But I also wish I had seen them in their newborn stage, just for reference. I've heard the tapes. It's not my kind of jam. But still, as a mega-fan, it would be great to also have heard that.

So I really got a miracle but the dead show wasn’t so great. Not like the New York shows.but it was good enough. They were such good times. It was nice weather.

      I’d argue it was Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. I loved Soundgarden, STP and Nirvana as well, but that Crowes album was spiritual and positive (albeit with some darkness), and that makes it remain an amazing experience decades later.

    I’m from Georgia, close to Atlanta. Love the Crowes and grew up listening to them, still love the first two albums. What Rick said isn’t excusable, but he isn’t racist. He is one of the legends and has produced countless classic albums, and helped define Rap as a genre. Everyone says something dumb in their lives and this is one of them, for sure. But Chris has said quite a few dumb things also.

    He can say what he wants. Where you are from isn’t always where you are born.. They all went to high school down the street from me in EAST COBB COUNTY.. one of the wealthiest counties in the state. I was born in Atlanta but went to school in Marietta before going back to Atlanta.. that doesn’t make me from ATL. I grew up and spent my formative years OTP.
    That the funny thing about Atlanta. It’s really REALLY hard to make it there in the city if you are from OTP (outside the perimeter). The stigma amongst the elitist inside the perimeter is really aggressive. I played in bands and even getting gigs inside wasn’t as easy. They always took the groups from Decatur and inside the village before anyone in Cobb county. So hearing a multi-millionaire still trying to defend and say he is from Insidde when its obvious he isn’t and wasn’t growing up is comical
