Supermax was a project of Austrian musician and producer, Kurt Hauenstein (1949-2011), best known for "Lovemachine", a 1977 German #4 single, that peaked at #6 in Switzerland, #9 in Austria and #96 in US.
In 1981, Supermax toured as the first mixed-race band through South Africa for 21 gigs. Despite warnings and death threats, Supermax finished the tour, but this made some countries refuse permits for entry, and consequently the group was black-listed by some political organizations. In 1983, Supermax was invited to play as special guest from Europe at the Reggae Sunsplash Festival in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
This is one of my favorite songs from this artist, it is called "Scream of The Butterfly" it was and still is a very haunting melody, I recorded this months ago, but was not happy with the vocals because I could not capture the nuances of it due to Kurt Hauenstien's Austrian Accent, which is where the impact of his performance is, and since it's his song, there was no way I was going to be able to puncuate where he does, so the vocal is more straight than I would like it to be, but if I tried to sound like Kurt I would be trying to sound Austrian and I would rather respect that and sing it straight which will not be as good but lets you know to check out the real version for a real pleasure.
