I'm 9 months past the release of this video. I'd be curious to know what you think now after spending some more time with the bass. I've owned and played a decent amount of instruments and I absolutely love my Lakland basses. Their necks are phenomenal, especially USA made.

Hi! Yes, it’s time for a follow up review! Basically, this quickly became my main bass for worship music at church. Feels and sounds great. I like the long length and width. Has a rich sound and good sustain. I’m proud to own one and Lakland has gained my respect.

@@lumurumba Oh just wait until you get your hands on a USA made bass from them. I can't even come up with the words to describe their necks. You gotta feel one.

@@MichaelLanglais-q4s I can’t imagine how a neck could be better than this (55-02), but hopefully I’ll get a chance to try an American made one for myself one day. This bass is just “buttery” all around for lack of better words because it’s smooth in every way. Cheers

@@lumurumba Absolutely nothing wrong with the Skylines. They're amazing. The time and attention that goes into the homegrown ones are just on a different level.

I think the word you were looking for was “Stingray” not P. Bass. Everything about this instrument was inspired by the Stingray (there was even a cease and desist letter from Music Man and subsequent slight redesigns) from the body and headstock shape to the oval bridge (a nod to the oval pickguard) down to the shape of the humbucker and the idiotic placement of its adjustment screws (yes that pickup should be inverted so the single screw is on top allowing 2 useful thumbrest positions rather than none) but that’s how they’ve been doing it since day 1. Since Leo Fender designed the pickup but wasn’t a Bass player that little design flaw unfortunately escaped him.

Young man I think you should do more research on what this bass is about. This bass captures three of the most iconic basses ever known, the precision bass, Jazz bass and Music Man bass. Look 👀 up the history of Lakland, you’ll understand the reason for this bass. You also need to understand how the bass works before you review or talk about this versatile bass. Study long study strong.
May the bass be in your face. PEACE!

Hi. I’m curious, what gives you the impression that I don’t understand how this bass works or don’t understand the history? If any of my statements are not accurate, feel free to correct me. There are no videos as far as I can tell about the history of the Lakland company, but there is a good “behind the scenes” video that I did watch. Though it is a nice bass, my position still stands that is clearly a semi “knockoff” of the other grandpa basses you mentioned. Please remember that reviews are largely subjective. Cheers

55-02 design is the same as the 55-94. It predates the 5501 as it came out in 94
