Great vid! As a figurearts collecter i do sometimes get annoyed by the high prices of some figures and you really covered all the good parts of all the figure lines, keep up the good work
imo who started collecting in about 2020-2021and has majority of the stars, all of the rise, and majority of the figuarts. the older series of dragon star u might as well buy figuarts. the non series scaling is even more questionable. still love them a lot and i got the gamestop fighter Z clone exclusives. id recommend aim for figuarts BUT buy the figure rise. their effects are very generous and if u like buying model kits its a plus too. the rise series is pretty durable for what it is and can have good posing with other figure rise and it doesn't get as much love as it should. pick your battles on dragon stars vs figuarts both are nice usually
Been collecting dragon stars since last year and I was starting to get unenthusiastic about it. You know... they're pretty affordable and I could get around 4 of them for a price of a Nappa figuarts and that's a lot. But I'm starting to grow tired of their "kinda bad" face scuplt and the scale is just very off. Like they could've at least made the short characters like Vegeta a little more shorter than Goku (Gotenks is alright but the proportion isn't), they'd save more on production that way and the scale would make sense. Articulation is not even an issue for me anymore because I think some of them are just good for its price. I also have no issues on the bigger characters like both Broly or Cooler since they're slightly taller. Not all are bad though because some of them had really good face sculpts. Then I heard the news about the Super Hero Wave and I decided to give them a chance. I grabbed the Goku, Piccolo and Gamma 1 when it was released and Holy Moly they're really good! I really like the sculpts this time especially Goku which I think is the best Goku that they'd released so far. The proportion of the parts and hair sculpt made me fall in love with the line once again and it gave me hope for the quality of the future releases. Now I'm waiting for the Vegeta, Gohan and Gamma 2 on the mail. I hope they'd release more Z fighters like Yamcha and Tien in the future with the same quality or Version 2 of the already released figures.
I'm glad you're enjoying the line. I skipped the Figuarts Gamma 1&2 for the budget but i have a feeling i'll be picking up the Dragon Stars versions next time i see them in store.
So it wasn't a fluke. I noticed that the first wave of Dragon Stars looked goofy. I never got them because I couldn't find them. But the rest looked good to me. I didn't know Omega shenron was coming. Can't wait. And I'm also hoping for the rest of the Z fighters. Over all I'm good with the dragon stars. I passed on SHfigure arts because I would only see 1 fig when I started collecting DB figs again, and it was more expensive than Dragon Stars.. But it was like 20 Dragon Stars figs available. I don't need the most expensive figs considering they will simply sit on the shelf.
For dragon stars collectors I'd suggest to at least try to get vegeta from the figuarts line, dragon stars' vegeta is too tall. Same for frieza and krillin. For everyone else yoy'll be fine...
Yes, I wound up picking up the Ultra Instinct Goku at my hobby shop last week, looked into the New Spec version and said to myself, well that'll be the next pick up!
i just started picking up the figure rise models. dragon stars is great for the villains and bigger figures. nappa is a good example of a great dragon stars figure that more than suffices for a figuarts stand in. figuarts is taking my money these days over every other line i collect, but dragon stars are what makes up the bulk of my collection.
For me, I got Broly and Cell as Figure rise figures because they were cheaper and gave me something to do, paint and mod them to the point of making them perfect in my eyes IE. My broly started stock looking then I painted him to look like how he did from his movie appearance in Z but gave him the battle damage from Broly Second Coming. It's basically my ultimate Broly since he has the scars of the Broly I first layed my eyes on with the my favorite Broly Color Scheme with the Maroon sash and Lime Green Hair. Heck I am planning to get more of figure rise Broly to use the extra Sash pieces to complete the sash so it doesn't have gaps, possibly use and modify the extra face plates to be different facial expressions like a neutral face, gritted teeth face(Specifically the face we see when he first went LSSJ), a teeth showing grin and a maybe a screaming face with green eyes from when he first bursts from his skin. For the hands I want to make a pointing hand so I have him hit the iconic, "You Kakarot, I choose you to be the first of my victims" pose, hand with an Omega Buster permanently attached to it and maybe a whole different torso with his arms crossed to recreate that pose that he did when dodged Goku and Piccolo attacks since the figure rise Broly cant really cross his arms well. With Figure Rise the skies the limit when it comes to customization, you customize them to make them somewhat premium. For Dragon Stars I got characters I wanted like SSJ3 Gotenks and Cooler since I couldn't afford the Sh Figuarts versions and plus I prefer SSJ3 Gotenks
I'm with ya on that. The model kits seem like the most work, but with the highest payoff. Have you seen the newest Goku model kit? I'm curious how different he is.
I ended up ordering that Saiyaman when it was originally released, circa 2019 I believe. He still holds up, but he is a bit smaller than our SuperHero movie Gohans. The heads can't swap unfortunately.
I just wish Dragon Stars had better articulation. I'm content with the minimal detailing and accessories, but those neck, torso, and hip joints really hurt. That said, DS Zamasu held a very nice place next to my Figuarts Black when I was convinced we weren't going to get a Figuarts of him. And if they beat Tamashii to the punch on Baby Vegeta, I will happily get him.

I did check out that Cell, and he does look awesome. However, after I did some scaling comparisons though he looked a bit too big for Figuarts.

It's an interesting line, but it looks like they scale every figure to 5". Meaning Goku and Vegeta stand at the same height, lol.
Yeah i wish Janenba's articulation was better, but then again, the Dragon Stars version beats nothing!
