Great video. I've been and replaced 2 prv s in the last week from passing prvs on baxi s. Expansion vessels have been fine. Have you done a video on cleaning the prv instead of replacing. That would be really helpful 👍

Sometimes in older boilers the schrader valve is seized in and disintegrates when you try to renew it. I have found you can tap a small Allen key hex into the remains of the schrader valve and wind the core out. This never happens in boiler labs with new boilers of course...it's the oldies.

Would you not change the prv as good practice since the prv has passed?

No really unless it's still passing. You can remove and clean the prv's on most baxi's if required. The expansion vessel should really be checked and recharged if required on most services.

Thank you for this brilliant video, could you kindly show us how to drain the Baxi ecoblue+24 from the boiler drain tap please? I've read and read the MIs it says "drain the primary circuit" without giving much information and tell where the "drain tap" is but I can't find inside the boiler a knob from where I can drain the system. Thank you

Main flow return valves often leak if used so I don’t touch them

Hi Roy - if a boiler can maintain 1.3 bar but water comes past the PRV when you open the filling loop and the pressure wont increase above 1.3bar does this indicate a weak spring in the PRV ? , the Heatline CaprizPlus 28a PRV should vent at 3bar according to the spec sheet . Cheers

I would first press the valve before draining if water comes out you know the vessel is faulty then new vessel needed I also use the extensions or change the shroder valve

Makes you wonder what the designers were thinking (or not) when they decided to put the schrader valve up under the top plate on duotecs and similar… Just specing it on the front, let along through the casing, would have done the job!

Hi Richard, glad you liked the tip, as Ashok has said you can get the tool and cores from Halfords or ebay, make sure you get the short cores.

When at Halfords get the new connection for going on valve and they useless ones that come on modern pumps ie the ones that you pull lever up to connect onto schrader get one that you pulll lever down to put on you will get it on to valve you will get that one to fit on e/vessel that are to tight for the other one to fit

I'm sure he mentioned it, but I'm not the sharpest tool in my lunch box, so
Ps, only joking, I've always carry a oil stone with me wherever I go so people can't take the piss
