Are you still liking the black journal? It doesn't look like you have to go over it a lot in this one, to get the colors to come out. I wrote a graphic memoir, Mom Remembers Me, about how I used my health and fitness knowledge to stop my mother with mild dementia from forgetting me, and it worked. You know the brain books say that cursive writing is better for your brain. :) The cityscapes came out well.
I like how different the black journal is - it really tests me creatively and is the perfect backdrop for metallic colours, but after this year I think I'll return to a white-page journal. When it's just line art, I don't usually have to go over the lines except for very fine and light-coloured gel pens, but if I'm trying to colour in a larger area then it becomes more problematic. I found with my two previous setups, I really struggled with getting the colour to be opaque in larger sections, regardless of whether I used a paint marker or a gel pen. And I'm not surprised that cursive is better for the brain because it certainly takes more thinking for me to do it 😅
