Great comparison video. Can we just take a second to acknowledge the huge leap in capability of cordless power tools over the last 30 years?! 1992 I got to see and use my first cordless drill/ driver; a 9.6 v Makita cordless with a long NiMH stick battery. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen. It wasn’t super powerful, but it was so nice to be free of the cord. In this demo, Dave is driving 3/8” x 6” lag screws into a large piece of lumber without pre-drilling. Even 4 or 5 years ago, I think we would be talking about which 18V/20V tools could or could not pass this test, let alone a 12v! Not to mention doing it that quickly! Incredible.
The new CP2.5HO battery doesn't bring a life-changing increase in power, but it definitely does bring the power of a larger battery. I think it's a nice option when overall tool size and weight are a priority, but you still need the gusto of the larger batteries. I'd like to buy both of the new M12 HO batteries, but only as a discounted pair or in a kit. Definitely not worth it to pay the full price for an individual battery.
This is a great review! I recently bought one of these and I’m doing a tear down video. I’ll send folks here to see the real world impact of this battery :) I do believe you’re the first too!
Yeah the 3 cp has to be less than the3 xc it has less cells to carry the amp draw I would love to see those go at each other as well as against the 4-6 and the new 5
I wonder how the cp 3.0 would fair. My reason being wile its only a half amp hour bigger the xc 3.0 has twice the cells meaning i can have less amp draw on each cell than the 2.5 but more amp draw overall i wonder if itd still share the same result as the cp series
You will probably get better results from the 12V HO Batteries with tools that can utilize the extra power better like the m12 circ saw, jigsaw or the cut off saw.
Interested to see how the 2.5 and 5 HO's do in a M12 Stubby. Curious if they well be able to go up to 3.0 hours and 6.0 hours on both or do you think they are pretty much topped out? Nice straight to point Videos👍🏼
@@procrastinator1842 That's the one I'm waiting on too. I'll be picking up both of these during the holiday deals. I actually picked up a M12 9.0 Waitley from Amazon for fun on the cheap and it hits as hard if not harder than my 6.0's. I have it as a spare, but run my Stubby's with 6.0 's the majority of the time so I hope the 5 dominates 👍🏼
@@johnny4713ify I went one step further. I did some research into the newest generation cells. Did you know that currently, all the power tool brands use cells from 2014 and earlier? Anyway, I sourced some newer generation cells from a reputable shop, and some empty battery shells from aliexpress, and I'm making my own. A super hard hitting (40A) 2.0Ah CP 3 cell and a super hard hitting (105A) 8.0Ah 9 cell. My 2.0 will have a harder hit again than the new 2.5 HO, and my 8.0 will have even less voltage drop than the new 5.0, so more power for the higher demand tools. I have trouble with voltage sag with the 1/2" hammer drill and circ saw. Currently testing and matching all the cells, will assemble this week and test.
high output battery is a high drain battery that got higher c rating. but the lifespan is lesser. cycle life is low. just like lipo that puffed. but for liion it just stop working.
Nice comparison! I have more than enough 2.0, then xc4.0.and xc6.0, so I really don't see any point in getting this 2.5Ah battery. I will wait to see how the 5.0HO does against the 4.0.and 6.0 before I bother buying another M12 battery.
It really isn't worth it unless having your tool at its most compact and lightweight but still needing the power of the 6-cell packs are all absolute musts.
That’s pretty impressive but I really want to see the difference between the 5ah vs 6ah. I don’t really use the smaller AH packs, go big or go home baby…lol! I’ll have to get on the horn with Milwaukee and tell them to get you that 5ah pack to test…Stat!! Lol
Let's see the CP3.0 also....The 2s are garbage for anything other than a light. The xc3.0 is old & silly when you can have a 4 or 6 in the same form factor.
I bought some fake 2.5 ah like 2 years ago. Just the audible difference in my fuel multitool was as if there was an additional setting that my 2.0s just don’t have. Even the charge indicators are brighter. They won’t stay in my palm nailer though. Trade off for not buying genuine GM parts.

Great comparison! I like the style/flow of this review! The new shop looks great too. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻
the 3.0 cp should of been in this video as well i feel

Thank you for this great comparison!
Good job. Can’t wait to see what the m12 stubby does with the new HO batteries.
Finally it is not shiny as 2.0 Better match for the tools
I was hoping for the gen 3 test with the new battery. I still gave this video a like because I'm a fan
Love the content you’ve been putting out lately. Great review!
I thank you sir
Mennn this is ecxatly what ive wanted to see your the best
I thank you Steven
U should compare it to the cp3.0 battery also
Great video. I can’t wait for the 5ah and this battery is what I need for my ratchets.
Pull it apart are they just using newer 18650s

Awesome I was wondering if they were ever going to do this for m12
Nice.

we see how the 5ah does
ACME tools now has the 5.0 HO for sale too! Got a pair that should be delivered next week according to tracking.
Thanks for great video.
I thank you Robert :)

we will see Johnny
The 3.0/6.0 cells have similar or less output than the 2.0/4.0 cells. So given these results, the 5.0 should be awesome.

Gonna pick up the High Output XC5.0 later this year. Should work good on My M12 hatchet and stuff
I want to see how it is as well
Nice vid, do you know the name of cell inside 2.5 HO battery?
I'd like to see this comparison using the m12 stubby
that will be coming up as well

the new 2.5 isn't necessary for everything. im sure it will benefit some people.

Good video. Thanks 👍
I thank you Divici
nice test. milwaukee should get a m12 12ah battery.
Really wanna see how the 5.0 high output battery stacks up
that video is coming in a few days

Do you have the 5ah yet to review?
hi Dave
i would love to see what cell they use in them ?
im curios about that as well
Can you do a similar test with Ryobi standard vs hp batteries? Interested to see standard 4ah vs hp 2ah.
yes I can

What about the 3.0 stick battery?
I don't have one of those but I do want one for my m12 heated gear stuff
My WiFi been a bit slow
im sorry about that Tammy, but it was good to see you in the comment and I thank you for joining :)
Eh, if I wanted more power I’d go to the m18. I have a bunch of the high cap batteries.
I was expecting more as well from that 2.5 but we will see how the 5ah is
6.0 battery's are so cheap now seems pointless to buy anything else.
I agree with you, the 2.5 should have been as powerful as a 6ah
Nothing really special in reality for what Milwaukee is charging for their marketing
I agree
@korean zombie still not a that impressive for the marketing behind it, but par the course at team China
