Mariah going to get involved in the pod perchance?!? If not, requesting her presence more often if only for her S-tier eyerolling. I also don’t think food nutritional value can be determined by just appearance right now. Un-subtle flex, but I make an amazing vegan lasagna. If you just show it a picture of this lasagna, it would not know whether the ricotta is made with tofu, and that there’s a blend of red lentils in the sauce to give it a meaty flavor. Even for noodles it probably wouldn’t be able to tell if pasta is made with regular wheat or if it’s chickpeas.

My favorite Google photos hack has to be the map. I love road trips, and it shows a string of all the photos I took out and back along the map, and I can grab all the photos I've taken around the area. You can scrub the map around and use it as a location filter
that feature in the meta glasses would be so useful for the visually impaired
Having Andrew back is the breath of fresh air I needed on this Friday which is actually 2 Mondays standing atop one another in a Friday trench coat!
So I have a Pixel 6 Pro and I use photosphere mode at least once a week. It's an awesome feature that works perfectly when I want to demonstrate a POV to a client (I'm a wedding coordinator).
I WAS NOT AWARE this feature was lost in 8 series! I was just about to upgrade over the holidays but that totally is a deal breaker!

It's been on my Pixel Fold since I got it and it's still there in the newest QPR beta that just updated a few days ago. Stitching is almost flawless and it's super immersive on the foldable display

LiDAR module is different on iPhone 15 pro. Less dots but increased power on each dot to project further, and much more frequent projection. Might have been another reason spatial video can only be on the 15 pro.
Im really curious how useful the meta assistant and glasses could be for someone with visual impairment. Could be a fantastic tool for it to read something and give you the helpful information quickly
I was listening to the pod at Apple Podcasts but when Andrew said Mariah was there at the end, I had to come here to see because not a word was said and I love that she was just an easter egg.

20:30 Google Maps also has the timeline feature which keeps a detailed log of where you go and what kind of transportation you use to get there. Definitely dystopian, but also useful... 😅

Google have rolled out spatial panoramas in Pixel 8 pro, which can be viewed on cardboard. It's happening automatically when taking a panorama and it doesn't seen to have been advertised yet which makes me think it's a prelude to a feature rivaling the apple offering

They've never stopped having photospheres, and it's improved quite a bit over time. It's still in the Pixel's camera app as far as I can tell.
I came here from the audio podcast to say this! 😅 I've seen it used on the pixel, so it's definitely a current feature.
It's not available on the P8 or P8P.
IDK who the girl in the background is but you need a camera on her face for the whole video just showing her reactions to the things people say. I'm totally watching this whole video just for glimpses of her expression lol

Regarding Google's AI Biographer: I think we're forgetting that it is Google's business to know everything they can about you so they can serve you targetted ads. So regardless of the data it pulls from your device they already have a digital profile of you based on your online activity that they could use to feed the models.

haven't watched all the way through but another difference between apple and google lawsuit, is there is more than one app store available on android: play store, samsung store etc. Google was giving preferential treatment to developers to go to the play store rather than device specific app stores

UPDATE: As of Friday, Beeper is indeed broken again
Calories and carbs are generally determined by a calculation from the fiber, sugar, protein, moisture, and mineral content that are derived from other assays (usually HPLC or a vacuum oven for moisture).
There are other ways to go about getting a general idea, but this was how my previous company did so for labels.
I swore I watched a Hank Green video once that said essentially the way they find calories is by essentially blowing up the food and they can somehow calculate it through that?
@@Manganellia1 that’s one of the other options! Generally for FDA nutrition panels, companies opt for the testing of individual components and calculating from that
I didnt hear anyone talk about this but like if these meta glasses or any other smart glasses develop enough it can be very useful for blind people. i mean it doesnt even have to be glasses, cant they make a camera that is connected to second part that you can hold in your pocket. there would be much more room if needed. imagine pressing a button and it just starts talking what is in front of you

I am relatively new parent with several Google assistants that we routinely ask for help so I guess it was inevitable that our one year old third word (after mamá and book) was "Google" which he now repeats constantly triggering all the devices around the house.

What do you mean the photo sphere got cancelled i just used it on my 7 pro before the recent ui update it was in the more section it was never removed from the default camera app i use it a bunch and while its not perfect i get a lot of great reactions from it
With the Vision Pro, the Apple Maps street view would probably work very well, then. Since it has a natural parallax effect and it'll look like you're really there. I wonder if they'll allow for user submissions for Apple Maps Street View (probably not).

The idea that accurate calories could be counted is a myth, and the idea that you need to count accurately for counting to be worth while is wrong. Similarly the number of callories you burn will only ever be an approximation. The amount of callories you take from a peanut will differ depending on how long you chew. If you want to do callory counting, you should be aware that you're working with approximations, and those approximations need to do nothing except average out to about the right amount. No individual value needs to be accurate.
42:45 I still have photo sphere on my Pixel 7, it is not dead. I am on the latest Android update, it is still on the stock camera app!
Photospheres are there in the Google camera when you go to the right inside the photos options 41:13
