I know it sounds cruel but it would be awesome if Emilia is FORCED to use Alas Ramus to kill Maou, after all the "i will kill you for sure" she fooled herself into now she would recall all her memories with him and finally accept that she has mad love feelings for him and what a tragic way to have to do it with their child and look him in the eyes while he whispers "Hey Emi why are you crying? this is how it was always supposed to be, i'm happy to give my life for you both, take care of Alas Ramus, she is our child afterall... I love you, farewell."
As sad and tragic as this ending is, in my humble opinion it would have been much better than the original ending that the Light Novel Author gave them.
