I love as soon as the Hammerman intro ends, the first commercial to show was Barney dressed up like MC Hammer to fool Fred into getting his cereal. It just can't be a coincidence. XD
Ok, the Stay In School ad with the penguins wasn't THAT bad when I first saw it. WOOH! One thing that was nice to see were the FOX Dynamo Duck "We'll be right back" bumpers, voiced by Dan Castallena!
This volume is my childhood in a nutshell! I had the Crimp n' Curl Cabbage Patch. I loved that doll. I had Polly Pockets too. I also remember that Nestle Quick commercial really clearly.
Speaking of Hammer, I remember there were a lot of unsuccessful Saturday Morning cartoons with celebrities in the early 90s, such as Camp Candy (with John Candy as a kindly camp counselor), Gravedale High (with Rick Moranis as a teacher at a monster high school), and even a Kid and Play cartoon.
"Camp Candy" lasted for three seasons, so I'm not sure if I would call it unsuccessful...at least compared to the other one season cartoons you mentioned.
"Whoops, looks like I blew my cover." You literally announced yourself while taking his plate of waffles. Smart enough to make a working invisibility coat, dumb enough to talk while wearing it.
I have heard of Defenders of Dynatron City, though I've never played it... I'm sure there was mention of the series existence in the gaming mags of the day, I remembered that almost being a thing. and OMG the Metroid II Kool-Aid tie-in thing I'll never forget the odd pronunciation on 'Samus' as long as I live.
12:50 "The Man from Urkel!" Okay, I'm very much intrigued by this special made for TV "Jaleel White Special." There doesn't appear to be any video evidence out there, just some press photos. Between this and "Urkel-Os," 1992 was the year of "Urkel!" LOL.
These aired 13 years before that series premiered. The actor you're talking about was *BORN* in 1992 and not even alive when these aired: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyler_James_Williams
wasnt that Juicy Fruit jingle from the mid/late 80s..? Kind of weird the local Fox channel showing a promo for a R-rated horror movie(Amityville Horror) during a kid's programming block.. Hammerman-yeah this was a key factor in Hammer's decline in popularity..well this and the KFC commercials he did "The George Michael Sports Machine"-at first i thought this was hosted by the singer George Michael lol
Not only is Hammerman one of the worst cartoons of the 90s, it has to have the longest theme song ever written for a cartoon. According to the timer on the video, it's one minute and 10 seconds long, but it sure feels a lot longer. I mean, the song just drones on and on, telling this lengthy backstory, giving too much information. I'm actually surprised the song doesn't go into more detail..."He found the magical shoes, but then he had to use the bathroom. There was no toilet paper, and the Hammer didn't know what to do!!"
I guess that would have been the goal of the cartoon series...had it been picked up from the pilot. But the NES game was not even out at the point this pilot was aired as a special, it came out about 5 months later.
Despite the gap, the game was the primary goal. I don't know if it was the game getting delayed or that they wanted plenty of time to generate hype. It was all for naught though since the game turned out to be crap. Who knows, in an alternate history where the show got picked up they might have decided to take a little more time on the game and make it better. Actually no, they would have probably just shoveled it out anyway.
MTV had a Foashback Friday in June. They showed the real world, Aaliyah’s Diary, some 90s music videos, mostly boy band shit nd nu metal, nu metal is true GOLD
"…take a sniff…pull it out….the taste is gonna move ya when ya pop it in your mouth…" great stuff! HAHA
That kind of sounds like a double entendre iif you think about it too much. ;)
It's shocking how many of these early 90s commercials I can clearly remember watching. The wonders of the human brain!
I love as soon as the Hammerman intro ends, the first commercial to show was Barney dressed up like MC Hammer to fool Fred into getting his cereal. It just can't be a coincidence. XD
The fucking 90s bro.
Even the double dip crunch 90s music.
I’m watching this while eating nacho lunchables and drinking purplesaurus rex koolaid. Life is good
Gimme a break, gimme a break, break me off a piece of that Kit Kat Bar!
The Juicy Fruit song sounds interesting. Especial the part. Take a sniff..pull it out..the taste is gonna hit you when you pop it in your mouth. 😏
oh wow, every time i watch these videos i get struck by nostalgia hard lol.
Ok, the Stay In School ad with the penguins wasn't THAT bad when I first saw it. WOOH!

I thought that voice sounded familiar!
In reality, that penguin PSA probably took at least 6 months of planning to execute. Ha! True talent at work... - _ -
Hammerman is one of those things that feels like a parody but was actually somehow a real thing.
This volume is my childhood in a nutshell! I had the Crimp n' Curl Cabbage Patch. I loved that doll. I had Polly Pockets too. I also remember that Nestle Quick commercial really clearly.
Not only do I remember that Nestle Quick commercial, but I remember the other one, with the evil witch "Creepella".
So much Detroit in the 90s commercial vault. I love it. Plus we acted out the penguin dance in elementary school
Thanks for these!
Hip hop was everywhere.
I remember Polly Pocket really well.
Metroid 2: Return of Samoose
Samoose??
and there were none of those enemies in that game either, who the hell wrote that copy?

Had no idea Camp Candy lasted that long. That makes me a Sad Panda.
Also Life with Louie (Anderson) and the very successful Bobby's World (Howie Mandel)
That Rick Moranis show actually sounds pretty interesting!
I had a few of those SI kids posters
Double Dip Crunch is hands down the most addictive cereal I've ever had. All sugar with a perfect crunch that doesn't go away in milk.
Never got a chance to eat it but I bet it’s rad
"Whoops, looks like I blew my cover." You literally announced yourself while taking his plate of waffles. Smart enough to make a working invisibility coat, dumb enough to talk while wearing it.
1991 - 92. I remember that year. Dynamo Duck, boy... Fix kids was the HOTTNESS
That juicy fruit commercial lyrics are a little dirty
We were taking life advice from a goddamn penguin...
Be cool, stay in school

I would really like to see that special. It's probably something he wants to stay lost! Lol
12:22 Im sorry “Return of SAMOOSE”?
That Samoos guy is one kool mondo dude, radical!
its like the eggo kid wasn't allowed to have food.
2:30 I remember this baby chick!
there was a hammer time show I never heard of it
Why dont they ever do any more juicy fruit Commercials?😒

yusakug my thoughts exactly what a piece of shit that was so unnecessarily detailed
I loved Defenders of Dynatron City! Too bad it was just an attempt at promoting the crappy NES game.
I guess that would have been the goal of the cartoon series...had it been picked up from the pilot. But the NES game was not even out at the point this pilot was aired as a special, it came out about 5 months later.
