    WOW... She's definitely back!! I waited to listen to the song so I could experience with all of you for the first time on this video! It's the first time I've done that here on the channel (I know, I know... Lots of other people do this all the time, but it was a neat new experience for me!)
    Adele has vastly improved in nuanced and expressive ways in her singing... (And she was already amazing) Dig with me... Try some things with YOUR voice after watching the video too :) At the end of this video, I give you some cool things to try so you can put some Adele in to your singing!

    Adele’s trade mark has always been her uber rich vocals - that is exactly why all she ever needed was a piano, or a guitar, for accompaniment to create a rich sound. That is actually what Tristan Paredes, another vocal coach and reactor, pointed out - and that she is the only one out there at the moment who puts vocals and lyrics to the front.

    This cut is a genius in many respects. The fact that they let her sing through, no auto-tune, no punch ins, wtc... hope this is a new trend for pop music. REAL music.... recorded by real musicians, without technological perfections...

    I'm 62, but I can hit the notes. No where as cleanly or artistically as this woman who is a gift to us. Retired from vocation (IT - 43 years) and being in an actual band (23 years, plus a couple that lasted less than 2 years), all avocational. This particular song moved me like first hearing "Rosanna" driving around with my future and present wife on a Sunday morning in college. And, the the name of the band then was "Blaze" (always hated that, but they had it when I joined.)

    This analysis was so cool. Its cool how you can really analyze any type of singer and singing and even demonstrate it. Most so called voice teachers cannot even point out techniques but you got it all.
    Its funny how you blended it all together like now I understand how Adele could breakdown to full false chord scream is she wanted and how she is using that technique to make only a subtle texture change in her voice. That is so amazing. Its always a pleasure to watch and learn from your videos and im so thankful from the howard jones video cause he used to be my vocal hero in my teenage years and I could figure out what he was doing and now I can thanks to you. Very engaging and interactive exploration of the multi-layered mosaic of vocal technique using this rich example. LOVE the demonstrations highlighting not just particular effects and techniques but also the PRACTICE of trying things, assessing, and trying again, focusing on the sensations, adjusting all along the way, this is masterful teaching and learning! My favorite part is from 11:19-11:50, discussing the intentional "bump" register shift technique. There has to be a term for that - I know this is what yodelers do....

    • @chrisliepe
      @chrisliepe  2 года назад +1

      You're right! But so many singers don't know how to "just feel it" so it's super helpful for many to dissect these techniques (even if the original singer isn't aware) and put them in our own voices! That's a great way to learn what our voices can really do! We develop certain muscle memory attributes by going through this exercise and then, when we learn to be in the moment, our inspiration combines with our learned muscle memory and we do things with our voices we never thought possible!

When you tube was just starting there wasn't much for people playing covers or really anything for that matter lol. Anyways I eventually came across the Flyleaf acoustic versions of there stuff then came across a bunch of Amy Lee acoustic covers of Evanescence stuff and I was immediately hooked on women that can sing. Now I like all people that can sing, I don't practice as much as I should be but I know singing is, hard to do good. I appreciate Chris too for explaining how vocals differ between different people/ genders. So I guess my question is am I alone?

      It is! Just sounds so different with her... I'd strongly recommend working on switching resonances like this DAILY. It unlocks so much range and agility in every voice!

    I think you should react to Gabriel Henrique. "Halo or I want to know what love is."

    I HAVE A VIDEO-IDEA-REQUEST :-) I'm new to singing, startet a band, we have a rehearsal-space, BUT have (more or less) no idea what to do with vokals.. Basically everything in between my mouth and the ears of everyone attending. What is the best, for a resonable amount of money? to get the job done. I fint ton of advise for studio and live gigs, all we want is something we can set up to practice. Can you help ??

    Adele is great! I can't help but think if anyone else were to sing like that, they would be accused of over singing.

      That's an interesting point... I see that too! she's carved a niche for herself and can get away with things that others can't. If you think about it, that's pretty common with mega star singers or frontmen. (Mick) ahem :)

      @@chrisliepe very interesting analysis and demonstrations❤️ Now, I would love you to react to Angelina Jordan who also is a great Adele admirer cover her song in her own way
