A special thanks to ‪@volkswagenuk‬ for having me along with some other creators to check out some of their new vehicles, this is my last video from that event. I also saw VW at the SMMT event as you seen in the review (A first look of the Golf MK8.5 is on the way!) As always the team were very supportive and enthusiastic!
The MK9 Volkswagen Passat has hit UK shores and brings a slightly newer platform than the outgoing model, as well as electrification as standard with the inclusion of the eTSI mild hybrid powertrains and the eHybrid plug-in-hybrid powertrains.
The new Passat brings upgrades such as the new infotainment system found in the new Tiguan and Golf MK8.5. When the previous Passat was facelift in 2020, it sensibly kept its useful controls and physical buttons, meaning the Passat has proudly never been criticised like other VW group models.
In a world of SUVs, (VW UK themselves have 9!) It is refreshing to see an estate car live on, not only that but to have the same technology we see in the SUVs and likewise a generous selection of wheels, colours and options to choose from. The media certainly seem delighted that the Passat legacy continues.

Great review Sam. I think the back end of the Passat is the best angle, looks very solid, not too sure about the front just yet. The interior in the R line does look very plush. It's about time the Government increased the £40,000 vehicle tax threshold. 😏

Thanks Andrew! I agree with you the rest of the new Passat is the best, the front end has grown on me, it looks excellent in person.
Yes the interior is excellent, I agree I think the 40K threshold does encourage manufacturers to make the cars under that, so it shouldn’t be increased massively but even 42 or 43K would massively open the options for people! 😊

​​​@@paulmussett94Same here the Passat is a slightly more upmarket Skoda and the Skoda specd in l&k isn't exactly sparse and free umbrellas and ice scraper in the fuel cap I'd prefer a Skoda tbf win win if you pick up a 3 year old one for half the price

All the wheel choices are horrible, and the chavvy privacy glass doesn't help its appearance - other than that, an excellent good looking family car. More sensible and practical than any SUV - but, as you know, you need an SUV for the school run, for trips to the football training ground and for sitting high up and looking like a prat, so I don't see VW selling many.
