The BBC has apparently forgotten this investigation. It has recently been interviewing representatives of the parent company as financial experts. The interviews are available on the company's RUclips channel.
Banks are taking vast amounts of money from peoples pensions in the UK via admin fees and commission. These charges are levelled throughout the life of the scheme until it reaches maturity when the person retires. In a BBC Panorama investigation, they found some banks were taking as much as 80% of the total money invested in the scheme as admin, commission and annual fee charges.
This is why it is crucial to seek independent financial advice from a fee-based financial planner rather than be enticed in by a bank 'adviser' who will probably have huge targets to sell their own expensive, bundled products to earn big bonuses.
Thanks for this video after I watched it last November I went to the retirement advice centre in Ipswich and they got someone to look at it I was actaully paying 2.5% per year I had lost 60k out of my pension unfortunately, there are lots of companies out there the do what the retirement advice centre do. I Chose them because they were free, they were actually really helpful. I am sooooo glad I did it now, but thanks again for the video it was a real eye opener. too many people get ripped off it should be against the law!!!!
No one shouldn't be playing anymore than 0.6% ish. What are the people in these pension funds actually doing? Fuck all, all they do is reinvest in other funds. Even better, diversify in afew tracker funds and save even more money. These people are fraudsters no one word for it.
In this video clip, a registered blind pensioner is tricked into reinvesting his pension pot into a different scheme. He loses £12000 after six weeks incurred by commission and admin charges.
Easy to call a blind man a fool when he will have done what most sighted people do when consulting a so-called expert: told the truth and believed that he got the same in return. I was once "advised" by a so-called IFA company, and fell for it despite asking the right questions. The guy was a con artist, something that emerged when the investment documents turned out not to reflect the verbal advice. Realised soon enough to get the money back, but many people lose a lot of money.
