Arnold should return as Conan, give him the big beard from the ending of the original and have him be an older and more seasoned warrior, he’s still got plenty of muscle so why not? Have a new director do it and Rated R.

I always dual classed a mage/ thief, that way I could Dimensional Door behind the enemy for a VERY nasty Backstab.

There were three factions, all wanting to sacrifice Jhenna & resurrect Dagoth.
1) Queen Taramis (terrible misuse of the character's name, as in the books she was a good queen and it was her identical twin sister who was evil)
2) Toth-Amon (an even worse misuse of the character's name, as he was a major villain in the books and not just a minor boss)
3) The Guardians of The Horn (these guys were created specifically for the movie and not based on any book characters)
True story. I watched this on tv when I was a kid. And the monster with the horn came on. I had been yelling to my mom stuff that had been happening in the movie. I said "theres a horny monster!". She came in and yelled at me, and said that I shouldn't talk like that. I had no idea what horny meant. Then I purposefully found out soon after somehow. Pro tip to parents. Trying to protect your kid from information will ironically expose and teach them that information.
Andre the Giant played the monster, no idea why he was uncredited.
They need a man in a suit, a REALLY big man... about being uncredited, i don`t know, maybe he requested to have his name taken out this awful movie

If heard it was him too. Wish he had been credited to put any doubt at rest.
I think that he was uncredited because he didn't show his face while in the suit. Had the costume required that his face be exposed, even under heavy latex prosthetic make up, then he would have been given a credit in the film.
There's a great picture out there with Arnold Andre and Wilt standing together on set and Arnold looks so short compared to them

Great review Decker Shado! I love the first movie but this is just a bit of a letdown for me. Just to clear a bit of a confusion, the soldiers and the wizard at the temple were not the queen's minions but some kind of cultists. The wizard even says that they are the keepers of the horn and waited for the girl their whole lives. Doesn't make the film better though.
Ah, that makes... a little more sense? "we are the ones to cause the end of the world but get on the evil god's good side - NO, we are to be on his good side!" ...was a bit confusing with the queen's guard tailing Conan the whole time before that though, and with the fact that they dress very damn similarly.
Yeah, i think the queen's guard either fucked up and attacked too early or they simply miscalculated and Conan cut them down before Mombaata got there.
Wow. I always thought that wizard was the same guy who tried to sacrifice the princess later, but I can see now they do look slightly different.
Rewatched this movie. Zula legit bit Wilt Chamberlin in the fight they had on screen. They didn't get along while filming.
Also I liked that they chose to use the same music during the princess sacrifice as was used in the 1st one during snake sacrifice
I genuinely liked this Conan as a kid. Even the hapless thief sidekick. To me, as a kid, this offered more spectacle than the first. The sorcerer/monster fight was a favourite of mine.
Shame that I hear if Arnold does actually manage to get another Conan movie made it's rumoured to ignore this one.

I watched this Conan as a teenager and I liked it too. Also, the Dagoth fight was a favourite of mine.
This is basically the Indian Summer of Arnold Schwarzenegger at this point.

This movie is pure D&D Barbarian... Fighter, Warrior, Thief and a Sorcerer but to top it off is the ways to kill the bosses as you pointed out! Your vidZ are THEE best man and the commentary is priceless... 17:15 killed me
Anyone else notice that the quest to get the key was pointless? There is a tunnel at the back of the locked dragon head thing that just leads to an unguarded hole in a cliff. No other locked door, guards or anything else shown. So going through the back would be far easier than going after the ice wizard and his key. ;op
yeah except Bambata had to MAKE that hole, and in order to find it the weak point to make said hole, you would have been combing the desert for a hole in the rock about 2 inches across. It's easier to get into the back entrance of Bleak Falls Barrow than the back hole in this movie.
I thought I pointed that out. They had to find it first then Bambata (Wilt's character) made the hole, no way to find the weak spot from the outside.
Neil Price In the novelization, Jehnna had to combine the jewel and horn to make them capable of resurrecting Dagoth.

Th group followed Jehnna to the cave, found the door, and opened it. No point looking for the back door when the front door is open.
Hoping you do reviews for Red Sonja (I've never seen it but I've heard it's Arnie's least favourite of his films) and The Running Man (one of the most enjoyably quotable Arnie flicks made)!

The guardians of the horn weren't affiliated with Queen Taramis or Bombata, they were a 3rd faction. Bombata was in just as much danger in there as Conan. PEACE!

If I remember right, the wizard intended to use the princes to pick up the horn of Dagoth, and control Dagoth for himself.

They weren't the queen's guards in the horn's castle. The wizard flat out said they were the keepers of the horn and had been their waiting for Jehnna to arrive to claim it for generations.

I love these reviews! Watched the reviews for Red Sonja, Conan the Barbarian, and now this one. I loved the Conan movies, as well as the soundtracks for them. The Legend of Conan was recently announced on Arnold's IMDB.

You were kind of off with your assessment of the other groups trying to get the horn. Both the wizard Toth-Amon and the other group wanted to use Princess Jhenna to awaken the god Dagoth so that they can rule the world by his side. However none of them worked for Queen Taramis. Toth-Amon worked for himself, and the Guardians of The Horn were a separate group with the same goal, but also not in league with Taramis.
I swear I've seen something where the protagonist breaks a bunch of mirrors to kill a monster but I don't think it was this film.

Sean Connerys Highlander introduction sounded way more epic and it was recorded by Connery in a hotel bathroom over the phone. (But I guess Sean Connery is just that epic. He was a classic thespianly trained actor so that probably had a lot to do with it.)
I always thought the group of warriors in the tomb where Conan finds Daggoth's Horn to be a different group from the Queen's Guard, say cultists springing a trap. But looking at it here the Wizard leading them and the High Priest that gets impaled are the same actor.

I saw Conan the Barbarian & Conan the Destroyer 3x in the Theater when they were originally released & also purchased both films later on VHS. However ...on VHS I noticed the Conan & Togra fight scene in Destroyer had been edited to remove Togra's vastly superior Sword display after they both fell off their horses & continued fighting. I've never read anything regarding this "Edit" nor have watched any Arnold or Sven-Ole Thorsen interview that mentions it either. Regardless, as said ...Sven-Ole Thorsen's Sword skills really made Arnold look bad which I'm sure is the reason the "Edit" was done for Home media release.
Um Decker, I hate to be the nitpicker here, but, the guys who ambushed the party outside the Dragon head cave, that was a third party. they weren't part of the queens guard. The guard only attacked outside the forest after they recovered the diamond from the super wizard.

Grace Jones had trouble with directions like "only pretend to hit the other guy" so some of the villagers' screams of agony after getting whacked with the staff are very real. Apparently, the third Conan entry was written as "King Conan" but turned into Kull The Conqueror starring Keven Sorbo. PG ratings used to have teeth back in the day, I guess.
I remember hearing that Conan The King was in the works. Did that production get cancelled without any to-do? I was hoping that there would be another movie with the amazing Conan soundtrack.

Hmmm . . . Maybe a "Summer of Swords & Sorcery"? He can do all of the cheesy Swords & Sorcery films that he hasn't done yet. Both the really good and the really bad (and the "So Bad They're Good"). Willow, Ator The Fighting Eagle, Legend, Deathstalker, Hawk The Slayer, Dragon Slayer, Dragonheart, Kull The Conqueror, Barbarian Queen, The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, The Hobbit Trilogy, The Barbarians, Ralph Bakshi's 1978 Lord Of The Rings, etc. I like that idea!

Originally there was another Conan film slated to be made called Conan the king but it was never made. Honestly I wish they had done a true Conan film that wrapped it up with Conan finally finding “his kingdom” and ruling as a wise and kind king.

interesting point. Robert Jordan (wheel of time) wrote a handful of Conan novellas in the early 80s including the novelization of this film. IMHO it was the worst of the novellas. no surprise there.

Personally, I feel this movie is more in keeping with the feel of the Conan stories: wizards, monsters, treasure, all that good stuff. The first one, not so much. I mean, yeah, the whole "sneak into the snake-tower and rob the place" is there, but that's, what, maybe five minutes of the film? At least this one made getting the treasure a major point, and Conan fought a big monster at the end!
The utterly useless/ annoying thief and the PG rating do drag it down, though.
Yes,in the first movie they put a character that wasn't even from the Conan books and changed his backstory.
