Thanks Don, not only are they doing an initiative with the beautiful murals but they are also providing help to the shops to paint up the front of the buildings in the town centre and it is making a huge difference to the look of the town....They are also restoring some of the old signs on the buildings in the centre of the town. A huge well done to the town council staff who are behind this.... Fantastic.
Very interesting, Don. I didn't realise Dundalk was so colourful. Some great murals all round the Country these days. I love that one of Brigid of Faughart.
Thanks for an interesting video, I have plenty of Irish ancestors and Dundalk is one of the places that they came from so it struck a chord with me. The town is definitely worth a visit. 👍
The Artic Fox is Admiral Sir Francis Leopold McClintock, 1819-1907. He was an Arctic explorer & The M'Clintock Channel in the Arctic in the Arctic is named after him. He was born in Seatown Terrace, Dundalk. He's my great grandfather.
@@donstravelsandrants. His ship, total crew, was 29, it was called the Arctic Fox. It was a steam powered yacht, bought by Lady Franklin (widow of Sir John, who was the leader of the Franklin Expedition of 1845, which had gone missing in the Arctic in 1846. All 129 men perished. Well Done Don, next time you're up keep an eye out for the Tempest mural it's excellent. There have been a few more finished since your visit. If you want somwething quirky check out the classic on the walls above McManus' bar in Seatown and see if you can find the 'buffed up jesus' in Park Street, you're doing well, it's an epic!
Nice!!!❤
Thanks.👍😊
