The scene where Mitsuko sees an old man and the man tells her that Mitsuko died 150 years ago and his wish was to sleep with her. Mitsuko ends up committing suicide, then wakes up in a pile of snow, symbolizes that the game she was in is over, and in a shocking twist, the man who made the game about Mitsuko, her death wasn't actually planned which might explain why Mitsuko's death was unexpected. And by the time this movie was released, it was a time where people viewed Japanese lesbians differently, which might explain why Mitsuko gets uncomfortable with marriage to a man because deep down she's in love with Aki
