    Being British myself, I have to say that is the most accurate British accent I've heard being done by an American. Usually they do the typical posh 'drinking tea with the queen' voice, but this was a proper London accent, haha. Love it! ♥

    Gosh some of you people really can't take a joke. He didn't say that British people literally say these things. He's equivocating. Making stuff up that kind of alludes to how British typically threaten or talk smack-which is clever and multi-layered as opposed to us Americans who just say "F--- you!" and call it a day.
    My best example is Gordon Ramsay ... I love how he insults. My favorite is when he calls someone a friggin' doughnut.

  • @markrooker9734
    @markrooker9734 10 лет назад +88

    Er, ye, from a British perspective, he's got a point :/
    We often forget that only a British person will understand what we are saying when we threaten them.
    I'm not sure whether it's us talking bollocks, or Americans just have no idea how to alter words to give different meanings X)
    For example, all of the following phrases can be substituted for 'I'm gunna get drunk':
    Mate, I need to get shit-faced!
    I need to get bladdered!
    Let's go get hammered!
    Let's get rat-arsed!
    Mate, I'm getting smashed tonight!
    And so on.

    • @daterapeface5340
      @daterapeface5340 10 лет назад +21

      I understand shit-faced, hammered, and smashed since we say those as well. The other two seem odd. We do possess the ability to alter words to give different meanings ( some of us). However, 'Let's get rat-arsed' just seems goofy as fuck, lol. Some of the stuff British people say sounds odd to us ( and others I'm sure)..but it's sometimes entertaining.

    As an english person, I'm glad to hear an impression that isn't stupidly exaggerated. It's not the best impression in the world. But for an American it's very good. Also the last line was hilarious.

    The trouble with threatening language is that it doesn't cross borders very well. When Americans talk about kicking someone's ass or laying a smack down on someone it just sounds stupid to me. I imagine that if I told an American I was going to slot, drill or merk them it would sound stupid to them. That's because they don't have the first hand experience of growing up in England and learning that these words mean something violent is about to happen. That's why it's best to just have the fight or, better yet , swallow an insult and get on with your life.

      chainsawchav lmao , yeah okay. When Americans talk about kicking someones ass they say it straight up.
      Nobody uses merk , drill or slot in real life or anything. You playing too many video games or something dude lol. The only time i heard be say merk was on a video game and the last time i heard someone even use that word was COD4 and that game came out in 2007

    • @chainsawchav
      @chainsawchav 9 лет назад +2

      I have never bought a COD game. I find the nationalist xenophobic overtones off putting. Slot, drill and merk are all real threats that have been made against me in the outside world where the trees and sunshine are.

    British people are really uptight here complaining about the accent and trying to make this less funny by saying its not ''proper''.
    This is a caricature and as one should be made to magnify the funny side of a particular language! He is accentuating the words so it sounds funny!
    When Brits make fun of Yanks it is just normal, they are smart Yanks are dumb, in reverse it is blasphemy... and I'm not American but this was hilarious!
    Of course it is not a authentic and spoken perfect, if it were it would not have been funny, it is exactly the point!

      +Chad O no we simply have a deeper and more sarcastic sense of humour compared to Americans , look at the TV programme The Office UK version compared with the US . or watch monty python or blackadder and you won't get a lot of the jokes as our humours are worlds apart

      I'm British and I was laughing my arse off. What he's saying is true. You start fighting with a Londoner (usually a cockney) you don't know if they're going to grout your tiles or if they're going to really _'grout your tiles'._

      +Chad O So I'm supposed to sit here and laugh at American "Comedians" such as Louis CK and Sarah Silverman because some biased American said they are funnier than the Brits? I've been to America and I have seen first hand how much they admire British comedians and comedy. There is nothing "Broad" or "Clever" about American stand up comedians or their content, it's forced laughter and bad jokes about drinking and sex. I say the Americans need to learn a thing or two from their British counterparts.

    • @thewisewolf768
      @thewisewolf768 9 лет назад +1

      +Drew DK Yes, you clearly have the British stereotypes down well. British comedians are clearly the superiors, not to mention the fact that comedy is mostly international, with performers from both sides of the pond performing on the other regularly. Let's also not ignore the fact that most American comedians don't just go around talking about drinking and sex, but rather are usually the type of comedians who make comedic commentary on their or other peoples lives. Meanwhile, British comedians have a very dry sarcastic kind of humor, also a lot of the time making commentary on awkward situations. The point is people all over the world enjoy comedians from all over the world, and thinking one countries humor is just flat out better than another countries is just superiority complex bullshit.
