I'm English. I laughed. I enjoy a good stereotype.
hey, good for you
reidmich182 Hodor
Walder Hodor Yo thats fuckin selfish! Good for EVERYONE.
***** That's the spirit man, that's it!
u wot m8
“ That’s my stand up basically for an hour”
He’s not lying
I am English and that is fucking hilarious.
"..with yo' pants around yo ankles and a lollipop in yo mouth"
i think we can all figure out what that means
Omg. Just got that
Maegan Lozano How could you not understand that?...
Jesus
A bibble bobble?
Well, this metaphor hasn't aged in D'Elia's favor
I really don't understand all the people saying its a bad accent. I'm english and he sounds exactly like a lot of people i know...
+Loki I'm from the Stusie boys and I don't like it
You must know a lot of people with a speech impediment who've suffered several strokes.
Obviously not
Hang about with a lot of deaf cockney?
I think you don’t know anyone
"Can't even remember what I said"
Recites the exact bit from his stand up lol
you're goddamn right
Word for word.
Him feigning ignorance is a part of the bit though. Do you really think when a comic says "so this happened a couple days ago" that it was actually a couple days ago lol?
Welcome to television
Being British myself, I have to say that is the most accurate British accent I've heard being done by an American. Usually they do the typical posh 'drinking tea with the queen' voice, but this was a proper London accent, haha. Love it! ♥
I'm told I do a great London accent
ill frickin do ye one mate
That sounds way more threatening cuz I'd be standing there, frightened and confused 😄
Proper 😂
When he said "Main Street" I assume he meant to say High Street. It seems like a small mistake, but a little slip like that when undercover in 1940's occupied Belguim and we'd all be speaking German by now...
Jack Wearside That’s class
That might be four years old but it made me chuckle, wonderful, and yes I’m a Brit , good Essex accent
😂WTF that got so intense so fast
Maybe if they're in USA they call it Main Street.
Ha ha brilliant :)
I’m offensive and I find this British.
I'm from the UK, This guy is funny!
+Cameron Favell im from portugal, these are words!
+Cameron Favell I am from Tunisia and i am not a terrorist!
+Ethan Silva LMFAO
Cameron Favell ok
@@mohamedalikhlifi9772
No one said you were
1:14 I haven't laughed that hard in forever! Literally brought me to tears lol Reminds me of when I was young and used to laugh often. Thank you Chris!
Like the way he says he can't remember what he said on stage then repeats his stage up prose word for word.
Yes. 😂😂😂
Ah yes, improvisation, just like Eddie Izzard pretends to do ;0)
Mubble Mann all comedians do that
talk shows are a way to test new material.
I'm sure when you are on late night TV, you'll feel no pressure and just wing it. No worries! Its not like this literally affects his livelihood or nothing.
This is genius. The accent is sometimes spot on and sometimes awful but that's what makes it funny, plus his mocking of English slang terms is amazing. Gives me an insight into what it must be like to hear it when you're unfimiliar 😅
He starts off with a reasonable South London accent but can't maintain it.
Intellect, reason&Logic Use your brain Most London accents sound a bit cockney , cockney sounds almost exactly the same as Essex accents
@@milopbrown3427 use your brain? He's Australian not British how is he meant to know that? 😂 Chill
Its not bad. Not as good as mine tho
McTrump don’t believe you
@@boahnation9932 he's actually an Italian guy from Jersey lol
Tbh, as a brit, that was definitely one of the better accents Ive heard from an american impersonating british accents .
im british and
thats mint haha
Don’t ever delete your comment. This comment section would no longer be in mint condition.
Mint lad.
No one from the U.K. calls themselves British.
O ye bruv
thats LITERALLY from his stand up. lol
Bill Burr as well as most comedians slip into their routine during interviews
@@maxthereof Bill Burr may do it at times but it seems pretty natural and doesn't seem like he is compared to like every other comedian where it's pretty obvious they're just doing stand up in an interview.
Doesn't matter his delivery...he's does it, thx for agreeing
@@maxthereof he does do it but he can talk for ages and about anything. I don't think a lot of it is stand up cause he is on talk shows a lot too. With Louis CK it's painfully obvious.
May not be obvious to you. If you follow a comic you can spot it in an instant. Z z z z z z 🙄😪
Brit here. I share the same accent he's mocking. He's the bollocks (in a good way). Same with Spinal Tap
Lol but do it to the wrong guy he's ganna get knocked out 🤣😂
"Litterally do grout work in your barf room"
Dont know who this guy is but i wonna see more now :-)
"...and literally do grout work in your bathroom"
That really tickled me 😂
At the end “for free?” 😂😂 I love this guy
As an Englishman, I found this hilarious and great! Gotta be able to laugh at yourself and not take things so seriously.
I'm from London, and he's talking about a specific kind of person. I know about 6 guys who all sound like the impression Chris was doing. Great accuracy!
Chris D'Elia never stops being hilarious.
xOmniCloudx let me know when he starts first.
he wasn't hilarious on Whitney...
5 years later and this still holds true
As funny as AIDS
@@luckydc I loved Whitney! I was sad when it was over....
I'm a south Londoner, born and raised and I think Chris nailed the accent!!🤣🤣
Ha! Genuinely funny. Yes, i'm a Brit and no we don't all talk like that but that doesn't make it any less amusing. Its a pretty good "mockney" accent as well to be fair.
Bloody top bloke this. Must get around to watching some of his stand up! Thumbs up from the UK!
Hahah okay he won me over with “Literally do grout work in your bathroom”
"for free?"
Hey, we have colourful vocabs! I call that something to be proud of. Americans just cycle through the same 3 swear words like a broken record
Tipsylou I'm from the U.S and I have to say you are for the most part completely correct lol
grand dragon Something got you worked up mate?
grand dragon hahahahahahahahaha did you remember your meds this morning?
grand dragon
Wow....that escalated quickly....
Jaks2much you're british then?
I died when he said im gonna get the stoocy bois to rool up on you
I’m English and a guy once threatened to do my back doors and polish my face.
Sounds like a sexual advance
Did he clean up after 😂 #BritishBanter 🇬🇧
What was most impressive there, was that he managed to squeeze so many ENGLISH accents into one minute long discourse. He seemed to start with cockney, then took a trip up to Birmingham, then visited Newcastle by way of Bradford.
So I guess I'm on a Chris D'Elia binge right now.
As a northern Englishman I appreciate that it’s the northern accent he goes to but at the same time a part of me dies
You think he does a northern English accent 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm English and he got it spot on
"Keep talking like that and I'll literally come do grout work in your bathroom" lmfao I'm so using that line!
His english accent sounds like a deaf person
it's. Cockney or Pidgeon English. Propa' London'ah
I thot it was chav/cockney
May be mistaken, here but think Chav's origin from Newcastle/North etc. Bloke's are from London (specific areas unknown)
Russel Crowe de MarlonBrandO Chavs aren't necessarily from the north, there are alot from the south. Chavs are everywhere really, just got to know how to find them xD
Ben Gill Go to Sport Direct !
I love when comedians go on talk shows cause they just test out possible jokes for their special😂
I'm British and we love the banter haha no offence taken at all
Recommended 6 yrs after airing. Better late than never. I’m a Londoner and this is spot on, so many wallys in the pubs and other stereotypical places that waffle this way. No one is born with that accent so you have to put it on. They just sound ridiculous.
His British accent is one of his best skits
Did he pick his accent up from watching Frank Bruno interviews? He can’t even get that right. 😂😂😂
Here after you know what
What?
Chris is the king of crowd work. He has to be live.
lol im british and this is hilarious
1:10 sounds like something from a Guy Ritchie film 😂😂😂
He's not wrong lol
Been to London many times and have seen a few bar fights/altercations. This guy is dead on. 😂
Gosh some of you people really can't take a joke. He didn't say that British people literally say these things. He's equivocating. Making stuff up that kind of alludes to how British typically threaten or talk smack-which is clever and multi-layered as opposed to us Americans who just say "F--- you!" and call it a day.
My best example is Gordon Ramsay ... I love how he insults. My favorite is when he calls someone a friggin' doughnut.
Equy, equivuton, equiviootin... that word required my entire brain to pronounce. Like it was the last boss in a video game or something.
+Athlete lmao that was hilarious..
+Athlete atta boy chipyy!
'typically threaten' you are hanging around some seriously angry British people, all we do is say sorry even if we're not in the wrong.
***** No, it is jocular in nation.
Lmao. That is so far the best rendition of a british accent ive ever heard by any American. They/you all usually think that we sound like the queen : )
I'm English, this guy is hilarious! Spot on!
Hahaha that made an old London boy giggle brilliant . And he's right .
Er, ye, from a British perspective, he's got a point :/
We often forget that only a British person will understand what we are saying when we threaten them.
I'm not sure whether it's us talking bollocks, or Americans just have no idea how to alter words to give different meanings X)
For example, all of the following phrases can be substituted for 'I'm gunna get drunk':
Mate, I need to get shit-faced!
I need to get bladdered!
Let's go get hammered!
Let's get rat-arsed!
Mate, I'm getting smashed tonight!
And so on.
I understand shit-faced, hammered, and smashed since we say those as well. The other two seem odd. We do possess the ability to alter words to give different meanings ( some of us). However, 'Let's get rat-arsed' just seems goofy as fuck, lol. Some of the stuff British people say sounds odd to us ( and others I'm sure)..but it's sometimes entertaining.
dum dum I presume you're talking about English people, you Americans think that British means English, it doesn't
Glenn Walker What? Mark was the first to refer to British people. Why the hell are you calling HIM out when he's just using the terminology already present in the conversation? I mean, you aren't wrong, but still.
Zach K
Tbf he is right, I was just saying 'British' for the benefit of any Americans who see this comment
Glenn Walker I know what it means, thanks. As others already pointed out he called himself British. Although I will keep that in mind for future reference since I did not realize it was such a touchy subject for people like yourself. Lol.
"your usin too many napkins" D'Elia is hilarious I'm from the Uk and I love it.
as long as you admit that's what your standup is, Chris. At least you're honest.
Thanks for recommending this to me 8 years later RUclips algorithm. Don’t know what I’d do without you.
Sounds like he is straight out of a Guy Ritchie film
Dude I've listened to him do this joke thousands of times now and I still laugh super hard, like HOW how can a joke be so funny LOL
lol go down to a rural town in the deep south or creole louisiana and tell me you can understand everything they say. We barely can understand that, that's why the honey boo boo show has subtitles.
😂🤣🥸
so DOPE to see a talk show host with a REAL LAUGH.
I'm "British" and this is funny
''I don't remember what I said'' repeats exactly what he said.
Love that I found this guy and been following him since he obliterated Logan Paul.
I love it when guests make Conan laugh
Im English.
This is spot on.
conan finished the actual bit! nice :)
I'm reminded of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace for some reason.
You and he were buddies weren't you?
I am from London, this is the best American impression of a British accent I have ever seen
That was basically Ali G
Clever and original! Your only the 9th person to say that! Congrats on being so quick!
I am British, and I found this hilarious! XD! I do sympathize with him . We are a funny bunch us Brits, I'm sorry we're so random, Chris. XD
that grout work joke always kills, it's legendary
bieberhole69
Workaholics
The first and best British (well, London) accent done by an American. Reluctantly concede a victory on this one, bravo.
BAFFTHROOM! XD XD
I'm from the UK and tbh he is one of the few American comedians who can make me laugh. It's just banter he isn't trying to insult people in a mean way.
best american ive seen do a British accent
Really? It was awful! Go and watch someone like Kevin Spacey if you want to here a good British accent from an American.
Matthew Arden No he's not his British accent is terrible.
Agreed
Glenn does the best British accent in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Phillip Winchester on Strike Back, it's pitch perfect in every way.
... There was a little sprinkling of Terry Tibbs in there at one point 🤔😁
"Tawk tah may"
I'm english and it made me laugh:) Although I'm not cockney
As an english person, I'm glad to hear an impression that isn't stupidly exaggerated. It's not the best impression in the world. But for an American it's very good. Also the last line was hilarious.
When I saw the title I was about to get ready to be offended but then I realised it was funny.
As an Englishman, I can say we've all done that cockney hardnut impression before😅
Chris d’elia breathes in oxygen and exhales funny.
The host just laughed without actually knowing what’s going on
This guy is really funny. Definitely one of the best British accents I've heard an american do. (I'm from Britain by the way)
The trouble with threatening language is that it doesn't cross borders very well. When Americans talk about kicking someone's ass or laying a smack down on someone it just sounds stupid to me. I imagine that if I told an American I was going to slot, drill or merk them it would sound stupid to them. That's because they don't have the first hand experience of growing up in England and learning that these words mean something violent is about to happen. That's why it's best to just have the fight or, better yet , swallow an insult and get on with your life.
chainsawchav lmao , yeah okay. When Americans talk about kicking someones ass they say it straight up.
Nobody uses merk , drill or slot in real life or anything. You playing too many video games or something dude lol. The only time i heard be say merk was on a video game and the last time i heard someone even use that word was COD4 and that game came out in 2007
I have never bought a COD game. I find the nationalist xenophobic overtones off putting. Slot, drill and merk are all real threats that have been made against me in the outside world where the trees and sunshine are.
chainsawchav Well apparently you aren't American.
1:13 all british people are like whats he on about I can understand it 😂 mad I love being British 😂❤
R u havin a giggle ther m8?
I wish his Netflix specials were this funny
I think he's getting better. He's on the upswing
Spot on lol. Hey , any true Englishman would find this funny.
People who are saying he is not good enough, he is actually better than many bruvers on the street.
Hahahahahahahahahahah I fucking love this guy
Sounds like a scandanavian trying to do an arnold shwarzenegger.
i am english and was about to get annoyed, then i watched it and laughed very loudly. well played sir
I heard only 1 netflix special years ago, and i have followed him ever since
I like how the whole point of this video just wooshes over the brit's heads as they just end up critiquing the accent.
***** There's always that one guy in every nationality that always takes it personal lol smh. You also missed the point of my comment: humour.
Although now that I think about it, it's kind of true ain't it? I mean you fit into the stereotype like a glove lol. (please don't bite this one)
***** LOLLLL the irony in your first comment
***** Good lord, if all fish were like you, we'd solve world hunger. LOLLL
***** Ah, of course the good ole age come back that solves all arguments. I fell right into that one! You win this time ole chap. Of course I shall admit defeat because there is no way I could make a come back from such an elaborate response. You struck a fatal blow, ser! tut-tut
***** Are we like, best friends now?
Accent was so good it's like he switched personalities
I think that's how he leaves his underage dates as well
Bruh
As a brit that was just great!! Absolutely nailed it 😂😂😂
British people are really uptight here complaining about the accent and trying to make this less funny by saying its not ''proper''.
This is a caricature and as one should be made to magnify the funny side of a particular language! He is accentuating the words so it sounds funny!
When Brits make fun of Yanks it is just normal, they are smart Yanks are dumb, in reverse it is blasphemy... and I'm not American but this was hilarious!
Of course it is not a authentic and spoken perfect, if it were it would not have been funny, it is exactly the point!
+Chad O no we simply have a deeper and more sarcastic sense of humour compared to Americans , look at the TV programme The Office UK version compared with the US . or watch monty python or blackadder and you won't get a lot of the jokes as our humours are worlds apart
I'm British and I was laughing my arse off. What he's saying is true. You start fighting with a Londoner (usually a cockney) you don't know if they're going to grout your tiles or if they're going to really _'grout your tiles'._
+Chad O So I'm supposed to sit here and laugh at American "Comedians" such as Louis CK and Sarah Silverman because some biased American said they are funnier than the Brits? I've been to America and I have seen first hand how much they admire British comedians and comedy. There is nothing "Broad" or "Clever" about American stand up comedians or their content, it's forced laughter and bad jokes about drinking and sex. I say the Americans need to learn a thing or two from their British counterparts.
+Drew DK Yes, you clearly have the British stereotypes down well. British comedians are clearly the superiors, not to mention the fact that comedy is mostly international, with performers from both sides of the pond performing on the other regularly. Let's also not ignore the fact that most American comedians don't just go around talking about drinking and sex, but rather are usually the type of comedians who make comedic commentary on their or other peoples lives. Meanwhile, British comedians have a very dry sarcastic kind of humor, also a lot of the time making commentary on awkward situations. The point is people all over the world enjoy comedians from all over the world, and thinking one countries humor is just flat out better than another countries is just superiority complex bullshit.
+Chad O yeah no, american humor is broader and more obvious, british humor is more sardonic and clever, in other words, british comedy > american
when he said "with a lollipop in your mouth" he sounded exactly like Jeremy Clarkson from top gear
