As an American, the interesting thing to me is the impact Birmingham and Wrexham are having on American sports fans. The NFL has spent millions trying to generate interest in the UK for their league with only marginal success. But these two teams have so many Americans following them that interest in the US is now spilling over into every level of British football.
Simon, it's noteworthy that the Blues sold 18 players, which considerably balanced the spending on new acquisitions. It appears you often get just part of the story in your reports. The Blues have been struggling for over a decade and have been mismanaged; they were not expected to be a strong contender in the championship last season. 6th in the league after 5 games. Additionally, it has not been addressed that Birmingham's games are taking place in America. The third-largest revenue generated outside the Premiership. Get the full story before you comment. The academy was never closed by the unscrupulous individuals who once owned it; they ceased investing for financial gain.
Blues fan here. I know the Americans are in it as a Business Venture, and will make money, but to make that money, they need the club to be competing at the highest level, and they pull no bones that they see Birmingham competing in the champions league, in a new 60,000 seater stadium. Look at Man City 20 years ago, and where they are now, and with Gary Cooke guiding them. I rest my case.
Do some research, before investment, Man City were a far bigger club, bigger attendances, more trophies, more seasons in the top flight, compared to Birmingham City. Assume you're on the wind up?
@@dominicsouthan4492 sure ya do. Someone’s gotta pay for the building of the largest ground in Division 3 🤣 “Fake fans,” you lot should take whatever you can get, being that other club in a city with the towns name in it. Do better, stop embarrassing the Birmingham name
The main slip in form that led to us getting in a relegation battle was Tony Mobray's forced medical leave without a proper number one to replace him. Chris Davies is the real deal though and the players are embracing his philosophy. Blues are definitely looking forward, not backward.
If Simon bothered listening to John ruddy podcast with Ben foster. Then hewill know why we got relegated. As for the owners they done better since 2011 where we should between that time have been relegated.
Whilst on the field performance is undoubtedly the priority, Simon sounds too old school for the business side of modern football. Both sides are inextricably linked . The blues messed up last season for sure but no one could have predicted that Tony Mowbray would fall ill at the most important phase of the season. This ultimately meant we didn’t have the ability to rectify the mistake of the Rooney appointment . And you know what… there’s not a single bluenose I know of that resented Tony’s need for time off. KRO
Don't know why Jordan thinks he's qualified to talk about club owners. Just look at the hopeless mess he made trying to do it. A bit too full of himself imo.
Mr Jordan there is a documentary on ITV called religated & winning. Religation was proberbly the best that could of happened to us. The reasons I say this are a squad of out of contracted player got rid of dead wood under performers who struggled for a decade . Different fairplay rules in league one. We was always going to spend money on players. Plus the owners would have to pay the previous owners millions more if we got promoted with in a time frame which makes those millions dead money wasted money rather spend that money on the team. Leeds Ipswich & a lot more clubs see league one as a chance to reset & rebuild. for the future these players we bought are for the future in the championship & we couldn't of done that due to championship fairplay rules.
No mention on how the Birmingham squad has progressed 10 fold during the summer and how that translated on the pitch yesterday. If wrexham beat us we wouldnt of heard the end of how good they played lol.
Do some research and it shows Sheff Wed have never even averaged 30,000 in living memory and that's even when they were doing well in the Premier league. Leeds and Sunderland have easily the biggest fan bases/ potential of any club that's appeared in league 1. In fact, this century all the big club statistics (like average attendances, league position, cup runs, finances, transfers paid out, transfers received, training facilities etc) prove that Sheff Wed aren't even the biggest club in their own city.
Jordan is right in some of this. We shouldn’t have got relegated. Major fail . However things are looking good now and we will smash this league and be back in the Prem within 3 seasons. I think he is still bitter after losing Brucie all those years ago KRO
The reason american owners are coming in for me is because they buy a team that can get into the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB. The teams that are in those leagues cant get relegated or become less relevent thus less profitable. In UK they can buy a team fairly cheaply with a huge upside of getting in Prem. American owners are not doing it for the fans its a business....Nothing wrong with that but its business.
Simon clearly jealous because he could never even fathom running a club this way. As a blues fan we have suffered long and hard for many years, we were not moving anywhere other than on the list of forgotten clubs under the last ownership. Simon sees no opportunity to make money off these guys so he rinses them. Had dinner with the Chelsea owners and they can do no wrong since then. This failed owner is a weirdo.
As an American, the interesting thing to me is the impact Birmingham and Wrexham are having on American sports fans. The NFL has spent millions trying to generate interest in the UK for their league with only marginal success. But these two teams have so many Americans following them that interest in the US is now spilling over into every level of British football.
Simon Jordan is the Skip Bayless of the UK
Simon is so bitter
God forbid Americans watch a L1 game. Come on. It’s good for everyone.
Ive seen a lot Simon Jordan i find out everything he talks about in any sport is always negative he doesnt see good in anything
Except for Daniel Levy…with him the sun’s always shining 😂
Talk sport criticise our bham city club and owners but you just can.t wait to interview our owners can you????????
Sound a little bitter!!! Simple Simon. KRO
Nobody here in America is supporting Birmingham City because Brady is linked to the club.
Good lol we dont want fake fans
@@dominicsouthan4492 sure ya do. Someone’s gotta pay for the building of the largest ground in Division 3 🤣 “Fake fans,” you lot should take whatever you can get, being that other club in a city with the towns name in it. Do better, stop embarrassing the Birmingham name
@@vinylhorror weird guy who are you Simon Jordan
Anything to have a go about Birmingham ever since the Steve Bruce days, get over it
Simon sounds upset because someones come in and shown him how to build a football club ;)
If anyone’s Hollywood it’s fkin Jordan 🔔🔚
KRO
Surely, the mess up was firing a Manager when you were 6th or 7th:)
@@Isleofskye that’s what I was alluding to. But they try to correct their mistake by bringing in Tony
@@PACEUK22 Yes,My Friend..
At least reynolds has put his hand in his pocket and brought the team to where they are..stop being salty jordan
Don't know why Jordan thinks he's qualified to talk about club owners. Just look at the hopeless mess he made trying to do it. A bit too full of himself imo.
What a prick, what has Simon Jordan actually done to comment on Blues?
I only watch this for Simon Jordan he always makes me laugh good or bad 🤣
I like what Simon has to say. He's a no nonsense bloke. I'm a Blues fan. I feel his concerns which is only natural. We've gotta have hope though.
More coverage on Birmingham then there is on Palace 😂
Simon looks like rodger irrelevant from viz
Birming ham blues scored 3 field goals against the opposition de-fence to win 3-1 🇺🇸🍻🦅
The goal-tender did well with his kick balls.
Cheers Jeff!
Would hate to see these two clubs succeed
Keeep talking about blues salty simon😂😂😂😂
What a poor soul jordan..
Jordan is only miffed because he can't afford it show him how tin pot he is
No mention on how the Birmingham squad has progressed 10 fold during the summer and how that translated on the pitch yesterday. If wrexham beat us we wouldnt of heard the end of how good they played lol.
As an American im begging yall over there. Dont let Americans into your sports. Sports teams are just money machines over here
That Gunners fan though. 😴
Downed 😂😂😂😂
Sheffield Wednesday vs Sunderland is probably biggest game in l1 history
I think he is still bitter after losing Brucie all those years ago
KRO
Salty Jordan. Green. Green with envy
Simon being Simon
what a surprise Simon Jordan doesn't like something that involves the blues
Cheerful Simon 😂😂😂
Hardly east Birmingham closer to town than St Andrews lol
Do one Jordan no interest in your comments..
SJ 2000: Tango man. Hates BCFC
SJ 2024: Cardigan. Hates BCFC
Quarter of a century of salt 🧂
Did Birmingham get relegated to League One? I'm not sure Simon mentioned it
Jealous just because Gary Neville was there 😂
Simon made a "horlicks" of running Palace too, so he can't really talk about other ownerships. He got them relegated and then put into administration!
Simon Jordan has hated Birmingham City ever since we took Steve Bruce from his club.
Yes we are in league 1 but we have investment for the first time in many years, serious investment in the infrastructure of the club and on the pitch. Simon will eat his words in a few years. KRO 🔵
