    i was desperately looking for a source telling me that I can switch effect pedals AND amp channels at once with that thing - this was very helpful!
    Thanks a lot!

      Yeah, I had to bail. The audio sounds like it has some heavy processing. Just edit out the breaths and the UMs, really hard to listen to like this.

    Great vid! Thanks! One question, I didn’t fully understand how to set the 4 cable method in order to use the Amp FX LOOP. Also, how would you setup the Boss noise suppressor?

    • @alwaysandy_
      @alwaysandy_  2 года назад +1

      I’d put a noise suppressor first before everything. 4 cable info here: ruclips.net/video/gDBmi6xpUeA/видео.html

    Great vid! Quick question….for your presets in the bank on the es-5, can you change the stompbox settings for certain patches? Or is it whatever setting you have when it’s wired in is what you get?

    • @alwaysandy_
      @alwaysandy_  2 года назад +2

      Most pedals what’s set on them is what stays. Pedals with midi can accept midi data on patch change tho.

    Thanks for this video. it has helped a lot! I used to own a MOEN switcher that operated in a sort of similar way, but there were issues with noise. It looks like this is a good alternative as Boss tend to make reliable and quiet pedals.

    • @alwaysandy_
      @alwaysandy_  3 года назад

      Absolutely! Boss has made a very quiet unit. I haven’t had any noise issues, and there is also an input buffer built in so they’ve covered it all. Good luck! Cheers!!

    Thanks for a great video, you helped me alot! I just jam at home and don't really need a switcher but I still want it! It's going to be fun to control my analog pedals and make patches. I used to use a Boss GT-100 but sold that when I started using analog pedals. It will be great to have a similar setup as the GT-100 but with the amazing sounds I get with my favorite analog pedals. I play a Gibson Les Paul with a Marshall JVM 205C. I mostly just play through a JHS modified Soul Food (Meat 3 Mod) connected to a JHS modified Triangle Big Muff (Illuminati Mod) then to my clean channel. However, I want to be able to switch over to my Wampler Tumnus or my Boss Waza Craft Blues Driver easily. I've tried connecting them in series and it sounds horrible, even when pedals are off my tone is affected. This unit is gonna be great! Thanks again!

    Thanks for the video, super helpful. One question about the effects loop. From the es-5 do you run a loop into the amp effects loop? And turn on the effects channel via es-5?

    • @alwaysandy_
      @alwaysandy_  2 года назад

      You run your loop thru the effects loop as desired but no you cannot turn the effects loop on/off from the ES5.

    Hi Andy! Thank you for the video! I believe this is what I'm looking for. Just wondering can you set this up to change your amp channel and effects loop at the same time with a single button? Or do you have switch amp channels with a separate switch? Thank you very much!

    • @alwaysandy_

      Thx! True. For every preset you can set channel changes, loop changes, one button. Sure. Cheers!

    Hi, how would you use NS2 suppressor with this same setup? Thanks

    • @alwaysandy_
      @alwaysandy_  6 месяцев назад

      I’d put it in the front spot in front of my compressor. That’s a bit of an “always on” pedal.

  • @wisecarverjon

    Maybe you can help me with this. I'm interested in the Marshall DSL40cr, and I like how it can be midi controlled to get more gain stages and overall use of the amp. My question is with the boss ES5 can I control the amp AND midi controllable pedals at the same time? I'm just not that familiar with midi

    • @alwaysandy_
      @alwaysandy_  2 года назад

      You can send CC values and program changes per patch. So I assume yes. I don’t have any midi controlled pedals tho.

  • @scottford2760

    Andy could you explain how you run two timed effects in amps effects loop but still activate them through the loop switches on the es 5

    • @alwaysandy_
      @alwaysandy_  2 года назад

      If I understand you, two effects devices will occupy 2 of 5 loops. The devices are always switched on, when you change presets on the ES5 it turns on/off the loops ie devices you choose for the preset.

    • @scottford2760
      @scottford2760 2 года назад

      @@alwaysandy_ yes they will be in the effects loop of the amp and always on but accessible through 2 of the 5 five loops on the es 5. To select in presets
      I've seen your video on how to do this in a stereo rig but I'm not sure the same thing applies with one amp

    • @alwaysandy_
      @alwaysandy_  2 года назад

      @@scottford2760 oh it still applies. My second amp and stereo split is all before the ES-5 comes into the picture.

      @@alwaysandy_ so 4 cord method starting at loop #3 then loop 4 and 5 will be in the fx loop of the amp...right!
      The manual doesn't make that very clear and I absolutely can't stand timed effects on the front of the amp 😒

    • @alwaysandy_
      @alwaysandy_  2 года назад

      @@scottford2760 yea the manual isn’t gonna tell you this is possible because it’s a built in feature of the ES-8. 👀

    Hey all. New to the ES5 and love it but......ran into a problem. I am getting a popping noise when I select channel as well when I go into my settings. The popping sound is external and is a problem. Any idea why I am having this problem?

    • @alwaysandy_
      @alwaysandy_  3 года назад +1

      sometime this can come from effects loops like there's a buildup of something that escapes me right now...buffered loops solve this problem. And there is a buffered setting in the Boss ES5 per patch so you may want to start there. Sorry it took so long to respond! You've likely moved on from this puzzle. Cheers!

    • @TheGgreen100
      @TheGgreen100 3 года назад

      In addition to what Andy is saying, I believe the Boss ES-5 also has a setting in it that allows a brief period of silence (that you can define the length of) with each patch change. That could also help with the pops but the compromise is that you'll get a gap in your sound. Some people don't mind that, some people do.

      It's just due to the compression on the vocals, sometimes the camera itself has this on by default. Personally I thought the info was presented in a great way, and I just ignored the inhales. Great video Andy :-)
