    I hope orca slicer can sort out the issue with arcs. So many people think they are getting banding because of the belts rubbing on idlers, but its how the slicers (bambu and orca) are drawing arcs... or more to the point... NOT drawing arcs when they should be.
    You can see this by exporting the gcode, running it through arcwelder then printing that "processed" gcode and the difference is night and day!
    But im excited to see this hidden seams feature because for "organic" models combined with arcwelder im getting super clean prints.

    • @gil80
      @gil80 2 месяца назад

      Exactly. I find it odd that I could get better circular print quality on my ender 3 v2 with klipper than on the X1C because of arcs not being processed correctly, or at all.

  • @justinchamberlin4195
    @justinchamberlin4195 2 месяца назад

    As a SuperSlicer man, I am happy to see that the project isn't fully abandoned. Supermerill seems to still be doing a lot of catch-up, but there are a ton of things to port over from PrusaSlicer and OrcaSlicer over the last year of lost development...I really hope scarf joints make it over before too long, because those seams look truly magnificent.
    For general purpose infill, I prefer cubic subdivision, though I will go with concentric for some prints in flexible materials (depending on the shape of the part). The one that really rustles my jimmies, however, is octogram spiral: it makes for a great crystalline effect with translucent filaments, reminiscent of fibrous minerals like selenite.

      I would be curious to see how a SS user would fair in Orca. I doubt it would be as bad as you would think

    • @justinchamberlin4195
      @justinchamberlin4195 2 месяца назад

      @@3DMusketeers It was pretty bad for me - something as simple as having all of the buttons and controls on the left side of the screen instead of the right, as I'm accustomed to from Cura and SuperSlicer/PrusaSlicer, was jarring enough, but the two things that led me to abandon my dabbling in OrcaSlicer were 1) having to turn off the automatic brim in two completely different places, and 2) the print quality wasn't very good compared to SS using the MAK SV06/SV06+ profiles made originally for PrusaSlicer.
      The first thing I sliced in OrcaSlicer was a little tag to go on a shelf at work, it wasn't meant to be fancy at all, just something robust enough to survive a foundry environment. All I wanted was a skirt as a visual check of the bed level so I switched from the default build plate adhesion option of "Brim" to "Skirt," and what did I see on the part? Both a brim and a skirt. Never had to turn off a brim in two places before, not even in the mess that is IdeaMaker. And while the print quality thing may be more of a testament to how well-tuned Chuck Hellebuyck's Ender 3 Cura profiles and mak77's SV06/06+ PrusaSlicer profiles are, but it was still somewhat upsetting to see such a rough print (in addition to the surprise brim) coming from a slicer so many people rave about.
      I definitely like how OrcaSlicer has implemented things like scarf joints and multiple build plates, but I don't want those things badly enough to give up the entire rest of my slicing and printing experience.

    Since this is a video about orca, feel like now is a good time as any to ask someone this, but does anybody know if in orca you can make it so parts appear even when they’re not on the plate, if I hit arrange and there’s not enough room for everything it kicks something off the plate and you can only see it at specific angles, in bambu can see it no matter what, i’d like it to be like that anybody know if that’s a setting

      @@3DMusketeers if I understand how scarf works, it must start below nominal Z height to lay gradually thickening line down over previous layer without gap, is that correct, so it would plow inner walls aside? Scarf probably automates outer walls first for non-overhang layers, or they have invented some higher magic (or just use outer walls first for overhangs too)...

    • @3DMusketeers
      @3DMusketeers  2 месяца назад

      There should have been 3. But this is a business. It costs you nothing to watch the video. Our goal is to grow the channel. Without telling people, we see a significant drop in people subscribing. Once it stops being the case, maybe we will cut down, but for now, this is how we make money to afford to make videos like that, it's the cost of doing business. I'm not a huge fan of it either, but it's a necessary evil.
      The full recording length of this was like 40? Min. But we are doing our best to cut it down to make it more succinct. We used to crazy deep dives and may do one with this when it goes full release. We will see..
