I started as a kid driving an 1975 R series Mack when I was 21, the truck was the same vintage as I was. It was low geared and they had pictures of her pulling two other Mack's out of big dam sites when I was in nappies
I love those old R model Mack trucks . That was a good looking old Mack log truck too . Back about 10 years ago, I did a lot of work on an R model for a man getting it ready for him to paint it . I saw someone haul one of those trailers, up on the back of the truck and they turned it upside down and loaded it up backward, with the trailer tongue towards the back . But what you all did with the ramps under the wheels, worked great . Well, another great little video and I hope that you all had a safe trip back home .. So be careful and stay safe and I will see you all later . As always, Jeffrey !!!
I found your channel a couple of weeks ago Mike. Love the content. It's nice to see someone take the time to build and do things the "right way" and yet still show the struggles and difficulties of real life. You have some good guys to help you. Aaron is the man! Keep up the great work! Thank you for taking the time to make such great videos.
Those old R models were killer trucks. I learned how to drive in one. No clutch shift by Jake break and RPM. Thanks again for the video. It brought back great memories.
every time i watch one of your videos with this trailer in it, i really wish i had one. it would make things much easier. nice to see there were no troubles with any of the repairs...."smooth sailing to the georgia line".....movie quote.
Cool video bro, we don't get snow here so was nice to see it. Not seen snow over on the ranges to the east of us for many years either. Weather patterns changed in about 1970 here when we slowed down on getting mainly westerly winds.
I know some of the bridge history. It is an metal arch bridge and was named after Bob Cummings who was an editor to some news paper. Also it used to be a toll bridge like the bridge in our area and both bridges connect Indiana and KY. Tolls were removed by the state of IN sometime in the 90's and I was old enough to remember when that happened. The tolls were removed long after both bridges were paid for. And that's all I got.
@@DirtPerfect yes our toll was on the INDIANA side too. Pretty sure Indiana mainly financed the bridge and therefore collected the tolls to pay back their financing. I remember something being a big deal because they collected years of tolls after the bridge was paid for but dont know the details. We had a ferry prior to the bridge but not sure if yall did on yours.
I at first parsed your comment as saying it was a 'troll bridge', and I was wondering about those ugly trolls that lived under the bridge, and came out and gobbled up unsuspecting folk as they passed over the bridge. The thing is, that might still be true, so I'd be peddling hard if I had to cycle across that bridge, and I most certainly would be walking across it, and never cross it at night in anything short of a battle tank. There really ought to be a warning sign or two.
Mrs. S.O.T. Metalworks I used to remember things from my toddler days... but that was the 50’s... I lost most of those memories in the ‘70’s (can’t remember where.) Hold onto those memories... one day you’ll see, once you get past 29 they go fast!
You both are a perfect combination “Mr dirt perfect” I love watching your videos also to “Man behind the scenes” your input makes everything come full circle.. Love this channel!!!
I see you and other U-Tubers having to deal with all the cold and snow and it makes me so thankful I live in Texas, Dallas area. This year we had one six inch snow. By a six inch snow I mean a flake every six inches. We havent been below 28 degrees tis year and Tuesday it is going to be in the low 80's Ane I hate the winter we have.
Around here, all the logging trucks carry the pup on the tractor when empty. the tongue is collapsible. When loaded with logs, they have the tongue out about15 or 20 feet. Makes for a long load and wide turns. There's a sawmill about 15 miles from here where most of the logs are taken, but larger diameter logs go to a mill in Wyoming that's about a 90 minute drive.
That was a different looking trailer then the ones we see in the west. Sadly those kind of trailers are becoming used less and less since shorter logs are being sold.
Come to Michigan, trucks run A train, B train, doubles. It's alot to explain but two trailers, 11 axles and legal limit before over weight at 164,500 lbs.
It's nice to see people helpin each other. Ur hard work an talent is great, God bless you. Keep those guys around u happy, it'll pay off down the road. Great vidja as usual
Thank you for the trip down memory lane...........The sight of climbing into the cab and sound of that engine brought back a LOT of memories of my logging days mostly good ones. I hope the new owner takes good care of it. Not too many left.
15 degrees and snowing ? Makes me happy I live here in deep deep South Florida. I don't miss Norther Michigan where I'm originally from one tiny bit. I blame the Coast Guard for transferring me to Miami here in 79 after the worse blizzard in decades in 78 up in Traverse City. It hits in the lower 50's here in SoFlo and we bundle up like Y'all do there 😎 Have a toasty day Y'all. Of course it's high summer right now watching this and now you're sweating buckets Diggin' Dirt 😳

That looked like a fun journey. That might have been the only good road in Kentucky. You should see the main road going through my hometown. A herd of mountain goats would think it's too rough. Lol. Have a blessed and safe weekend.
WIN! WIN!! Puppy dog runs like a dream Load delivered undamaged. Another parking space available at the Derby Market. Talking about road maintenance... the county where Brandon and I live is rather prosperous... the one south of us, not so much. Every road in our county is paved... if you drive down the county line road... about half of the roads on the south are dirt... many don’t even have gravel, they fill the ditches during the annual grading pass that they do and potholes are ponds that dry up only during the summer drought. My daughter lives on one of them and calls to get on the list for repairs that might or might not get done. The last time they showed up to open a cross culvert that was plugged and washed. They graded the ditches so they filled the fencelines about a foot deep. They opened the top of the culvert but left the outflow plugged. The next rain left a pond in the road a foot deep and a hundred yards long. I took my backhoe over and cleared the outflow. I hope the county commissioner doesn’t read this note and find out who screwed up his crew’s fine work!

His dad had his head up my fanny so far that I was a candidate for being friends of Obama. I finally told him to take his boys truck an shove it up a mules south end if the mule was pointed north. AS he was leaving with the rig he run into my own truck and I took the keys back and drove it to his house, called his boy ( my was buddy) and told him no way hosser! I made his dad pay and pay hard for my damages. I had brought it back with some ore., mud but otherwise right down to the clearance lights, no scratches or blemishes... three months later his dad crashed his boys truck and totaled it out! It was factory gun metal gray with all kinds of metal flake and chrome. I did avoid mack for a while but the next one I drove was a dinosaur off highway truck on the islands of alaska. I really missed that other truck from that time on... I think but just can't remember for sure.... six hundred horse v8 mack was his and the one in alaska was a 871 detroit with exhaust coming through the hood. I might of had two hundred sick horse power in the old off highway truck with a five and four and fifty thousand pound axles with a low eight something geared rear end. It was slow... run away mode was about forty plus... mph! Just never win that one and did miss that power
