Cafe Racer Timelapse Build - Yamaha Virago XV750 - Full Timelapse Build

- Here is a timelapse video of 3 & 1/2 months work turning an ugly 1981 Yamaha XV750 into a hell of a lot cooler Custom Cafe Racer Motorcycle! The build was possible with the use of some amazing products from Motogadget, Anti Gravity Batteries, Breakwells Paints, Metzeler Tyres and a whole host of other manufacturers/companies. On top of the custom seat frame sits the custom seat wrapped in Dinaminca suede (a different brand of Alcantara) works so well against the Aston Martin Viridian Green painted fuel tank with the custom subtle tank graphics. The Motogadget M-Unit Blue handles all lighting etc alongisde the Motogadget Motoscope Pro dash, Breakout box, Anitgravity Lithium battery & Rick's electrics regulator rectifier. The Tyres are Metzeler ME888 Marathon with white tyre writing. The front end Forks, wheel & brakes are from a 2004 ZX10R while the yokes are from a 2001 Yamaha R1 & the stem is from Cognito Moto. The headlight is an all in one Dipped/Main beam & indicators unit while the tail light is an all in one side/brake & indicator unit that is frenched into the seat hoop. Custom rear set brackets and rear sets work custom rear brake and gear linkages. The bike was fully stripped down and sandblasted then finished in Sniper Grey Cerakote.

Very enjoyable series Dan, I really couldn't see how it would turn out or if the colours you choose would work but it's obvious from the results that you had a vision and knew what the bike would look like in the end and it turned out fantastic, nice job mate 👏👏👍

This was so awesome. Love the transformation, and what those xV bikes can be turned into. The mono rear shock set makes it so clean. Early 80s Suzuki GR650 had a similar set up with lots of potential….

im starting a project like this myself, just finished stripping down a yamaha xj600, its going to be a learning experience thats for sure

I sketched out a bike idea I had. It was just inspiration based, not off of any models specifically and it is so close to this it’s crazy. Beautiful bike that had also boosted my confidence lol

props to you, the build looks great, but can you guys PLEASE do a sound check at the end? Sound is such an important part when building bikes, and it is so satisfying to hear it at the end..
Cheers. The bike is currently off having a new ignition system as it never ran properly.
Gotta love a shaft drive, doesn't really look as cool as a chain but man the maintenance is soo much better.
Nice to see the build complete in a quick fashion.
Alot of builders drag it on for a year and it looks like a half eaten cheese sarnie at the end ..

crazy isn't it! I forgot how much work went into it until I watched this back. I did the same thing with the Caddy too! I have a VERY short attention span (The Golf 😂) I still haven't ridden it yet!

@@DanChambersDAC …. Unfortunately, it’s a shaft drive. I removed the dual Hitachi carbs and put on a single Mikuni TM40. Still needs a little fine tuning, but should be good. The bike sat for 10 years or more, abandoned in a garage. Looks almost new at only 9k miles. Also, we put true dual exhaust on it. Need to finish it!

Looks great! I bought a low mile XV920 to do the same thing and then life happend. It is awesome to see someone hammer this out fabricating as you go.. Love it.
Let me know if you need another one my 920 is collecting dust.

The motorcycle got such a great engine with great sounds. Your version goes better with that sounds. You made a great looking motorcycle.
Sand the edges of the engine cylinder fins to make them silver and it'd really punch up the look of this. Nice job.

Dan! Inquiring minds need some kind of parts list. Those Mikuni carbs and filters would be great on my XV750. Along with several of the other parts you've used. Great job on the build, I hope mine turns out even half as nice as that.
