I disassembled a lenovo G510 with a screen flickering problem which needed a replacement for the LCD cable. I didnt record the reassembly because my phone had no more memory.
Get a replacement cable here: amzn.to/329975G
Always follow the safety instructions: disconnect from power, remove the battery and follow the steps from the service manual: download.lenov...

You helped me a lot, thanks!
I have 2014 lenovo g510 and i didn't have to unplug antennas and split LCD panel from main body (with PCB and keyborard etc.). Just unscrew optical drive, hard disc, keyboard, screws around the perimeter and one next to optical drive screw (1 optical drive screw, 2 HDD screws, 6x M2.5x6 and 3 little ones over optical drive to take off upper body, 3x M2,5x6 keyboard screws) - and thats it to get to PCB panel with LCD cable connector (you just have to put up left speaker). Then just unscrew the LCD from LCD back cover and put the LCD cable there, just like the broken one goes.
Thanks a lot for sharing this! I hope your comment can also help others who have the same problem!
My dad's lenovo's soeaker is damaged . This video is reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyy useful. 👌👌👌👌😀😀😀😁😁😁😁😁 Thnx
My Lenovo's screen usually only flickers on and off when I am adjusting the screen. I assume the cable is going bad or the connector is coming out of where it plugs in.
same
Thanks for the video, helped out a ton!
Took my g510 apart and looking atbthe board nothing seems shorted out but my g510 will kot power on or charge.
Hi, your video helped me a lot in replacing the cable in my g500. Took me a bit longer though - 3 hours ;)
Btw. You dont need to remove the antennas from the main body. The cables are long enough to take the screen out with them inside + you dont have to put them back inside later on which saves a bit of time.

My under laptop cable broken how I can do
Hi, i have a question: Can i run Lenovo G500 after disassembling LCD and upper housing (i mean a part connected with LCD screen). Thx for help.
For those whom doesn't have another cable ,
try to change the position of the cable by entering it more into the screen itself,
that worked for me as the cable is not damaged too much , its just because of too much opening and closing of the laptop lid.
That's a great point! I actually did that a few times and it helped, but after a while it really neded a full replacement.
I had this problem too (but much worse), also determined the screen cable was busted. Turns out lenovo doesn't just know how to properly design hinges.
Yeah, it seems to affect so many people!! And it’s the only laptop i’ve seen with this kind of flickering issues 😓
Thank you for the great tutorial! It was descriptive and easy to follow.
My laptop's screen started flickering and my camera stopped working. I followed your tutorial to reach the screen disassembly. I didn't need to remove the antenna cables or the motherboard to access the screen though, so it saved me some time by skipping that. I just pulled more of the gray coated cable into the screen and it did the trick.
For people trying it for the first time.. Nearly all the screw holders have been labeled with their dimensions so it will help you reassemble the laptop if you write down the dimensions on the paper too.
Great video, very informative. I'm having the exact problem, and have disconnected the lcd cable. That thing was so stuck on there it slightly tore through the clear film underneath. My question is, when I reconnect, does it matter if i use clear/non-clear tape to reinforce? Besides visibility, what is the purpose for using clear tape?
Thank you
lankz this is just a guess: the clear tape helps to see if the cable is still connected without the need to remove the tape.
hmmm, yea that was my initial thought, but opposite to the clear film was a reflective material as well (aluminum?), which made me second guess myself. No worries just curious. Thanks again for your vid, very thorough and well filmed : ) Really very helpful
Nice slow pace. Have me time to follow you.
I got the inner base plate off before you 😄 as you said sh!t this is a lot of work 👍 But putting the new screen cable in and re-assembly was much quicker. I now have a perfectly working screen. Before it went black at less than 90degrees open.
Good that it's working! Hope that fix lasts ;)
This fix here is still working, for two years now. With the SSD upgrade that I also made, it's a pretty good laptop for general browsing and office!
Hi. Thanks for informative and useful video. can you just share the address of your reference guide from Lenovo, which you look at during the fixing.
Sure, here it is: download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_g400g500g405g505g410g510_hmm.pdf
Really helping video, after watching it with another one also, I successfully changed the screen cable with a new one bought from Aliexpress. Maybe around 2 years the screen was flickering while moving it so I'm so happy that I personally fixed it without any other help.
Hi, one question to experts, I have interruptions (when moving display) to my camera. The procedure to fix is the same? Is it on the same cable? Thank you
Hi! Yeah the procedure is the same ;)
The camera uses the exact same flex cable that connects the display, so it’s likely that you need to replace the cable, or at least make sure the cable is well attached on all ends.
Could you please post the end of this video?
Hey Daniel! I wish I could, but i ran out of memory and the end was not recorded. There are not many more steps after this though. You can check the manul (see description), it really helped me!
great video!!!
Hey bro ı have lcd flickering. I need to change lcd cable. Are you changing the cable here? (I didnt follow all)
Murat Koç I’m replacing the whole cable. For flickering some times it’s enough to reconnect the cable thightly and add some tape. In my case the cable was damaged so I fully replaced it.
Completely wrong, just remove frame around screen and screen and tighten with packing clear thick tape the display connector that plugs into display. No need to disassemble main case. Very common. This video doesn't show fix.
This particular machine needed a cable replacement. We've tightened the cable with tape on the display and on the motherboard, and this wasn't fixing the flickering, so the cable was replaced and the problem was fixed.
Unfortunately the video is not complete but I thought of sharing it anyway, might help others who need to disassemble it for whatever reason - I didnt find disassembly videos before. Please link a video of the alternative fixing (with tape), might help others!
Yea I can agree with the guy from the video. I have the same laptop and when the cable is moved from where the hinge is at, the screen changes color and flickers. But your method is very common on most laptops too though neither of you is wrong
I just removed the frame and screen and tightened with clear tape.
Problem solved !
Saved me alot of time.
Thank you AD Electronicfor the tip!!!
Here is a video for fixing display connector

thx man i just removed the frame and the cable was too tight at hinge so ı use a little oil and loosen the cable a bit and its not flickery anymore
Why publish this? You obviously are not well familiar with this model, and this disassembly is almost completely comprised of guesswork. Also, camera positioning... where do I begin? You hide your actions behind the lifted display assembly and your hands. This could have been obvious at the review stage when publishing. That said, thank you for sharing and doing your best. I'm sure we all appreciate it, no sarcasm. It'll get better, just keep at it.
parahumanoid both in the video as in the description I advise to follow the lenovo manual, which i also follow myself during the video, to avoid guesswork. As to why, I thought i could maybe help someone by recording it, since i was doing it anyway. If you want a better video of the screen disassembly part, check my latest post on screen changing.
