I knew I wasn't losing my mind! According to Mint Mobile, I'm averaging a little more than 2x the data I used with my old carrier AT&T. Still, I'm paying a heck of a lot less than I did with AT&T, so overall, I can't complain, I'm thrilled with Mint Mobile so far! I hope things don't change much now that T-Mobile owns Mint.

I’m 20 days in with mint and have already used my 20gb plan. Was on cricket before with a similar plan and had not used over 18gb for an entire month over the last yr. Makes zero sense. Apparently I used 80% of my data in the first 12 days. I’ve turned a few things off on my iPhone and rest cellular data usage to track it better. If this continues it will not make mint worth the $.

I have exactly the same issue. Mint counts from 2 to 3 times what my phone reports. I travel a lot on highways weekly, so can be related. Moving to ATT...

Every time I did a speed test on my phone it use over 1 GB of data which is crazy.

I tried their trial service, which is 250Mb. Started it in the evening from home. 2 hours after leaving home the next morning I got a text message I was out of data. 2 hours, and I just browsed the internet. I called and told them that I typically use 250M per week, but they insist that I used 250Mb in 2 hours. I'm now too afraid to switch to Mint with anything but their unlimited plan, which I don't want.

It’s unlimited data but not unlimited HIGH SPEED DATA lol

My suspicion is that since mint mobile doesn't limit data speed most of the time , the video you're watching on RUclips wants to utilize the high speed by playing the video at higher resolution which in turn causes higher data consumption

I never even normally use 2gb of my 5 gb monthly plan. However I just got a msg saying that I've used all 5 gb and it's only been 10 days since the beginning of my month. Is there any way to contact MM to fix this?

I have the same issue. I think it happens after T-mobile took over Mint on 3/15/2023. Before takeover, I used to get 4G of data monthly, but never use up all of the 4G data. But after takeover, I got 5G of data monthly which runs out jn 2 weeks, even worst after running out , I have no more internet access when I need it. This is terrible. Time to change this carrier!

@@yeongsoong1724 I found out that the spider solitaire game that I have been playing for years is what used up all my data. (some nonsense about . . . background . . ? ?) I uninstalled it . . and now my data usage is back to 'normal'. Don't understand it . . . but . . . whatever . . . ? ? ? Now - I only use my phone for calls and I make and receive very few. Occasional gps . . but not often. I hate technology . . .

I have a phone on mint mobile that does not stay on so I just leave it at home. It is on wifi all the time if it is on which requires it to be plugged in. So it always has wifi available and I have not made a call or anything with the device because I have a different device I am using. It some how reached its data limit and it was never used and never taken from the wifi and most of the time it was turned off. So what does that tell you?

I have the exact same problem !!!
I have been wanting to switch to MINT but I don’t understand how their unlimited plan is really unlimited plus I get a message from T-Mobile every month saying you have exceeded the 50gb limit the first week of every month, but it still works the same. I do not have home internet, so I am worried once I go past 30 gb, it would leave me with poor service. What do you think ?!? thank you.

Same thing is happening to me. The service after I went over the 40GB limit went down to 367kb. Bought another chunk of data and blew through that in less than 2 days

So how can you work around this? It's happening on 3 of our accounts.

There's no technical workaround for the user I'm aware of. I would get in touch with Mint to see if they can verify your data usage. Make sure you have records of your phone's usage statistics from the settings (depending on the phone OS you're on) to compare against.

I started out with Virgin Mobile 2. 5 GB would get me almost 3 weeks of heavy use now I'm with mint mobile and by the end of the month cycle with fairly heavy use I'm well past 40 GB I got a new phone and used my hotspot for browsing RUclips for less then a half hour and then I got a message stating that I exceeded my 10 GB of hot sopt data my phone only said I used 521 megabytes on the hotspot and my phone also said my total data usage was 3.5 GB versus mint mobile which says I used 27 GB I've been with mint mobile for about 6 years now when I first started I noticed that from what it was on Virgin Mobile was like double but now it seems like it's about 5 x more than it should be the only reason I stay with mint is when the data is exceeded it doesn't seem to be throttled enough to where I can't use it but it's still very frustrating feeling like I have gotten ripped off makes no sense to me that's a crazy difference I don't know but it kinda looks to me like we're being fleeced and I noticed in my case it seems to be excessively so

If your plan has unthrottled streaming, you’ll blow through your limited data when you stream at 5G UC speeds. Like if you’re streaming at 1Gbps as viewed on the Fast app, you’ll go through GBs of data in minutes.

I have a residence in the US and in Latin America. I have a physical sim card for the Latin American country (primarily for the inexpensive unlimited data plan) and an esim for Mint Mobile (allowing me to call and text with my US based number.
I keep both lines turned on all the time and Data Roaming is turned off on both. Wifi Assist is turned off as well.
Inexplicably, I am burning through $20 a month of International Data while in Latin America and Mint Mobile has not been able to tell me why!
Do you have any suggestions as to what might be causing this and how I could resolve it?!
    Thank you!🙏
