  • Welcome to this step by step guide to making rainbow felt bunting from your own wet felted fabric! Natasha guides you through the whole process, from wet felting a piece of felt embellished with rainbow coloured yarns to turning it into finished bunting ready to hang. You're in the right place if you want to learn a more modern style of felting, with clear instructions, the simplest methods and techniques and high quality results.
Here is a quick rundown of the equipment and materials you’ll need to follow along with this video tutorial:

Wet Felting Materials: Merino wool fleece tops/roving x c50gm (in white or your choice of colours), c1.5m of 7 natural wool yarns (not synthetic) in each of the 7 colours of the rainbow.
Bunting Equipment and Materials: iron and ironing board, pencil or fabric marker, paper or card to make template (13cm wide x 12.5cm high plus 2cm added to height for flap), ruler, pinking shears/scissors, tape measure, c2m of ribbon c1cm wide, textile glue (eg Gutermann HT2 textile glue or PVA/white/school glue).

What a great tutorial. I do 3D needle felting but would like to try wet felting and the info you've given here and be adapted to use in other projects too. I'm definitely going to start with bunting though. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thanks for your lovely comments Lisa, I’m so pleased you enjoyed the tutorial! I agree this is a great project to get started with wet felting, it’s not too complicated, and who doesn’t love to decorate their home or workspace with a bit of bunting?!🤣 (And you could do an autumn version, Halloween version, Christmas version etc just by changing the colours.) Hope you enjoy making some, Happy Felting!😁

I can’t find the rainbow wool anywhere online, what is it called? I love the texture! I have roving but love what you used ! Thank you again!

@@taradavies2550 It's a mohair boucle or loop yarn, very high natural wool content. If you can't find any or only want enough for this project I can provide you some, just email me at natashasmarttextiles@gmail.com!
