Cliff Camping in Heavy Rain & High Winds with the Hilleberg Enan - Surprise Storm -Jetboil cooking

- Join me on a seaside cliff camp in the North York Moors. As you will see in this video, I was caught of guard by the early strong winds and rain of storm Franklin (At the time of my camp the storm had not been officially named). When I set out on the hike, multiple forecasts for this area predicted mixed precipitation of rain and snow that afternoon into the evening. With winds between 5 and 10 miles an hour the majority of the night rising to around 25mph at around 2-3am. As I start the hike the weather continuously gets better until I reach camp. I was pretty happy, as I ended up with clear skies and very little wind. I was able to enjoy the sunset and cook a nice meal with the door of my tent open. As I went to bed the forecast began to change calling for 25 to 35 mph winds starting around midnight. This forecast was pretty accurate, however it kept getting worse throughout the night. After a few pegs came loose as the ground became saturated with rain, I was able to resecure everything with rocks. By 2 AM winds began reaching speeds up to 45 mph. The tent handled these conditions fairly well as the gust were still sporadic and my location was still protected behind a small hill beside the tent. Aside from being blown around quite a bit I was able to sleep a some. Around 4am however, gust were starting to top 52mph and more importantly, the wind direction changed and the tent started receiving the full brunt of the winds. At this point I felt the integrity of the single pole could become compromised and I decided to begin packing. As this is a new tent I also had no intentions of seeing it destroyed. I also did not feel comfortable being in essentially a parachute next to a seaside cliff.  After getting everything packed I was able to sit behind some rocks closer to the hill out of the majority of the really strong winds. I intended to wait for more light because the cliffs that I was camped on were reached by a very narrow exposed path along a steep drop into the ocean. As I was waiting, the forecast began calling for even stronger winds topping 60 mph after sunrise so I decided to start hiking with the little light that I had. As say at the end of the video. I think this is a really good lesson in how weather conditions can change fairly quickly. The forecasts that we rely on are just a prediction of how the weather can be not necessarily how it will be. And on this trip you can see that those conditions can swing both ways. I hope you enjoy the video and really appreciate all the comments and feedback I’ve received from everyone. I appreciate the feedback! Every tent definitely has its limits and certain designs definitely are better than others in conditions like this. I would have probably been much better off in the Soulo and would have taken it if I had known it would be like this. However, I am also not looking to take any of my tents to the extreme if I don’t need to. They are too expensive and I like them too much to see them get damaged 😂. Although I think the Enan did really well considering single pole tunnel tents like this are not necessarily made for the harshest conditions. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

You camped less than 3 miles from my house, so I know most every inch of where you were. Your stakes were trying to hold onto wet `shale` - a very soft `rock` you can break with your hand. I wish I had met you before you headed down there, as you now know, it is treacherous in fact I think they blocked that path off now, and you did very well to get back up. One wrong move and you would have been done for on that slippy stretch. The winds are not just strong, they swirl and eddy as they come over the cliffs, and you know that better than anyone at this point! I got capsized in a sailing dinghy off that headland on a beautiful spring morning, the wind swirled round the back of the mainsail, and dumped me in that north sea in a second. You have a cool head in a bad situation, and you really needed it that night!
Wow 3 miles from your house. You live in a really nice part of the country 👍. It’s such a beautiful coastline. I definitely learned my lesson that night. I knew the ground wasn’t the best when I was putting the stakes in but when the rains came and made it wet the ground did turn into a complete nightmare. It took me forever to clean everything off my tent. It’s probably for the best they’ve blocked off that path. It’s definitely a bit treacherous, especially when wet. Definitely a memorable camp. We go to Runswick Bay which you called the village every yr for holiday in a cottage Can’t believe you camped on what we call the crocodile as the head is the shape of a crocodile The path you came back down on at the end is very slippery at the best of times My heart was in my mouth all the way through watching this You definitely had GOD looking out for you that night Coming along that path in the dark was extremely risky Thank goodness you got back safely Loving watching all your adventures this for me was one of the scariest to watch 😮

I was very fortunate to receive such great weather on the hike in considering rain was originally forecast. I didn’t expect such a drastic change in the forecast that night though. Oh my goodness. Glad you got out of that safely. I was freaked out just watching that. I live on the coast in the North East (about 80 miles further up from where you were) and the winds we get here can be frightening, and that's indoors.

Yeah, It definitely wasn’t a relaxing morning! Once the weather report changed for the 10th time and started calling for even stronger winds I knew I needed to get off those cliffs given how exposed the hike back was. Also didn’t want to damage the brand new tent I was so happy to finally get! Thanks for continuing to watch my videos! ATB
I have tried it many times in Scandinavia with my Enan. The wisest thing is to double pole and supplement with extra lines and stay in the tent until sunrise. The tent does not break.
Totally agree! This was my first time taking out the Enan and I wasn’t expecting 60mph winds. I didn’t want to destroy a brand new tent, especially when I was not yet aware of what it was capable of. So I only packed up about an hour from first light. Luckily, I only walked away with a partially misshapen pole. Since this trip I have learned to guy out the extra end taps and it makes a huge difference! If I had a second pole, I definitely would’ve doubled up, but I probably would’ve just brought my Soulo if I knew there was a probability of such high gusts since I am more familiar with what that tent can handle. Definitely an unintentional great test of what the Enan is capable of. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. ATB
Watched a video of an akto in 80mph winds with single pole. The pole flattens, to the height of the top guyline, but no more. Aslong as the guyline holds , the pole should not break.

Oh my goodness! An absolutely terrifying experience, but even when you were concerned, you kept your head! Amazing video-you should get an award for this one! So glad your lady does not see these videos, she may be tempted to tie you down safe at home!
Yeah she doesn’t watch my videos but will occasionally remind me that we have young children. I think there are always risks with some of these camps but I wouldn’t say it was necessarily unsafe. Worst case scenario I could have damaged a new tent on this one. The hike back up the cliff wasn’t ideal in low light either but it all worked out! Appreciate you watching another video 😀👍

When the tent is setup and you can just relax and enjoy the sunset with a beer. One of the best times at camp!
Having jumped on the the Going Solo train just after catching your cooking ramen in the Lake District while it pissing down outside episode, I'm catching up by discovering past gems such as this one. Now you know why us Brits always go on about the weather. 7 different weather systems hit us all the time, and you never quite know what may be coming next! Keep up the great work. Thanks Tom! I completely changed how I look at the forecast after this video. I use multiple apps and check various weather models up to the very last minute. The weather definitely caught me off guard on this camp. The forecast changes much more rapidly here than what I was used to when I lived in the Northeast US. But I’ve loved the learning experience. I really appreciate you going through and watching past videos. Glad you liked the music. I like to add it sometimes for the hiking sections of the video or drone stuff, but I’m always a little reluctant because I know some people really don’t like it. Glad to know it’s appreciated sometimes 👍. Thanks again. ATB
@@GoingSoloOutdoors The app I use all the time for the weather is 'Weather Pro' which works on my iPhone. The really good thing about it is that it also shows satellite images, where it is really easy to spot fronts moving in (mostly from the west). Keep the music going. It's good (as too the drone footage!)

RHB & Whitby are our favourite places, but we have seen so much of that stretch go into the sea! We haven't walked as far out as you were, but so many homes and a massive hotel have been lost because of the boulder clay! Every time we do the RHB to Whitby coastal walk and back, more of the path has been lost! A few yrs ago, there was a fresh loss, and we were diverted, which turned our 7 mile hike, one way, into 13 lol.
Wow, yeah it looked like many bits of cliff we saw during our trip had recently fallen as well. That’s why I tried to stay as far away from the cliff edge as possible. It looked very unstable. Beautiful place for a hike though!
We were under canvas when a heavy windstorm hit Lincolnshire a couple years ago. The wind rattling the tent at night is unsettling. Glad you made it back safely!

A tip that was passed to me may years ago, if you are right on the coast, promontory or island use the uk shipping forecast for a more a a accurate guide to seaside weather than the usual forecast for inland. Tony
Thanks man and great tip! Haha after this trip I started using an app called Windy.app that gives wind and weather forecast over the water. I’ve been pretty happy with it so far. And it seems to be quite accurate as it gives all the predicted weather models. Really appreciate the comment and thanks for watching! All the best!
@@GoingSoloOutdoors advantages over an app are, get LW radio signal in the most remote locations, no phone signal needed, free, no ads. Disadvantages, only broadcast 4x a day, odd terms - you were in 'Tyne', you need a radio. Great channel. Tony
@@Nnuinn yeah a radio is a good idea. I have a Garmin InReach which allows me to get weather updates when there’s no signal but I find it limited for what I pay.

@@maggi666 It ended up being a terrible area for the tent pegs. When I was pitching the tent it was actually relatively solid and I was pretty happy with it. However, as soon as it became wet it turned into a nightmare and became very soft. Glad you enjoyed the video! ATB
@Going Solo what you describe is exactly why so much collapses into the sea! Where you were would at one time, been a cliff! It steadily drops until it makes hillsides but when some drops, it drops a long way down onto other collapses.

Thanks! The Enan is fantastic. I’d say it’s solid up to about 40mph. I decided to take it down once the winds were over 50mph because it’s a brand new tent and I didn’t want it to get damaged! And since I was near a cliff I wanted to find better shelter just to be on the safe side. Really appreciate the support and thanks for taking the time to comment!

Haha yeah I was so giddy with not having the forecasted rain and snow on the hike in also! At least I had a great evening leading up to the terrible weather. I would have been really upset if I damaged a new tent! But all is well!

Brilliant mate, good to see how the Enan performed in those conditions! Brutal. The space in that thing looks ace, the vestibule looked huge when you were cooking (those tacos looked amazing👌🏻). I still haven’t got mine up yet, but I’ve attached 4 extra lines to those tabs either side of the end poles. Glad you got back safely mate, great video👍🏻 Cheers, Mark
Despite having to eventually take it down I thought it really did perform fantastic with winds up to 40 mph. I just didn’t want to risk breaking it when the winds got worse. Super impressed with its strength and with the space to weight ratio. The vestibule is noticeably bigger than my Soulo! Fantastic for cooking! I really wish I would have connected guy lines to those four tabs before taking it out. When cleaning the tent, I was playing around with putting tension on them and it does help take up quite a bit of slack in the fabric! Thanks for watching buddy! ATB

As someone who also has a Soulo and Enan this has proved extremely educational in where the line is between deploying one or the other! Unfortunately it meant you had a very stressful time in the end, but sharing it is invaluable, so thank you. I have modded mine a bit with a whopping 6 extra guy lines - two on the tabs each end, and double guyed the main pole each side, to help stop lateral movement, but I admit I haven't had it in winds anything like that crazy yet! I also take long spike type pegs for the four corners as the ones supplied are so piddling. I still think even with all that I would have had no more sleep than you did though! Great that you had the spell of peace before it all kicked off - a stunning part of the world, the North Yorks coast. Look forward to a nice tarp and fire glamp in the woods next time, you deserve it after that! Cheers. Rich.
Thanks Rich! Yes, this one trip has definitely taught me what the Enan can and cannot handle! (And that I need a better weather app … more on that in a future video) Once I add more guy lines to those little tabs at the ends of the tent I think I can comfortably take it out if max wind speeds will reach 40mph. Anything higher it just makes WAY more sense to take the Soulo instead. But I walked away super impressed with the tent! Still not convinced this trip didn’t slightly bend the pole a bit out of shape though. The two pre-bent sections are no longer equally bent as I once thought they were. Oh well, other than that everything looks fine aside from the streaks of gray clay I still haven’t been able to clean off the tent. I am VERY excited for a calm night by the fire under a tarp!!!! I was very thankful for the nice afternoon/evening on this trip but I don’t want any surprises next camp. Thanks as always for the brilliant comments! ATB
Yeah I must admit the thought of your clean up when home was even more frightening than the camping in a gale 😅. It's the bit nobody sees on RUclips isn't it? It can take me up to a week of chipping away at gear after each camp to get it clean, dry, packed away etc. Not helped by living in a tiny house with three other people, and no garage or garden to speak of! This is all whilst planning the next camp too... you know how it is! On the subject of bent poles, I warped my Enan pole simply by over tensioning the guys (something you can afford to do with a Soulo to some extent) so I can imagine it may be a bit wonky now. Replacement sections are fairly reasonable price though all things considered - hope you get if fixed with no probs. 👍
@@CottonBud Yes, cleaning the gear can definitely be terrible at times. This may have been the worst yet! I could have definitely over tensioned it after going out the second time when the winds got really bad. It was really hard to determine the proper amount of tension while the pole was being blown around. I also experienced quite a bit of slipage in the guy lines which is something I have not experienced with the Soulo.

Ah- just beautiful cliffs and scenery. The drone footage was amazing. But you know I love the food/drink portion of your stories. Mango IPA and tacos. Yes! I just got my Jetboil Stash in and I can't want to cook on it. Sweet tent. But holy crap insane winds and that narrow pathway with the drop to the ocean. Ack! No,
Yeah that last bit of path down to the cliffs where I camped was not an official part of the coastal path. Definitely a bit sketchy, especially hiking back up in the wind! Glad you enjoy the cooking! After using my Enan for three years at around 20 night / year I'd say it's OK up to 40 mph winds, so a good call to take shelter with 50 mph gusts. If you'd pitched on some grass you should have got better peg placement which would have helped.
Yeah I agree. Since this trip I’ve had it in 40mph winds in solid ground with the additional guy lines at the ends pegged out and its done great! This camp was my first night out with it and with the surprise weather I just didn’t want to see my new tent get potentially get damaged. That would have been heartbreaking. Unfortunately this location just didn’t have many options to pitch the tent. Appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment! ATB

Thanks for the support man! I definitely prefer a pocket knife with a flat grind for all things food prep as my other bushcraft knifes are just too thick. I used a gift card I received from my inlaws to get the bugout. It’s a bit pricey and probably wouldn’t have picked it up otherwise as I usually gravitate towards traditional pocket knifes. We got stuck in the peak district a couple of weeks back, part way up a peak and the 120 mph gusts turned permanent. We had to sit down, whilst holding on to rocks and shimmy back down on our bums whilst holding rocks and eachother! Our human amazing brains will always find a solution for our safety! Our RVRC trousers took a battering without a blemish to the fabric!

It surprises me that Hilleburg hasn't come up with a tent system that completely blocks the wind on the exterior and keeps the interior quieter. Even if it was an external fly that presented a solid barrier against the wind to shelter the tent inside. Something like that would be ideal for you.
I think packing away a tent with some sort of solid barrier like that would be very difficult. This tent isn’t really designed for the kinds of winds I experienced on this trip. I also didn’t have it guyed out completely at the ends so it was definitely a bit more flappy than normal. Some of my other Hillebergs are definitely a bit less flappy but you kinda get used to it. I am very curious to see what future Hilleberg tents might look like though. Really appreciate the comment!
@@GoingSoloOutdoors from a practical standpoint I get that. I was just curious if they made more wind resistant models and if they had ever considered such a thing. Realistically it'd be hard to transport such a thing unless you were pulling a sled or used a motorized vehicle. I watch a lot of the outdoorgearreview channel and I always see him arranging a canopy/tarp setup near his tent and was curious if they made such a thing to be used in higher wind conditions.
@@keonisan 👍 not sure. I have seen people pitch Hilleberg tarps over a few of their different tent models though. For instance, the Hilleberg Unna pitched with a Hilleberg tarp five looks pretty cool and gives you a nice dry porch area. Don’t really think it would be great in wind though.

I wish my first night out with it was uneventful! But as you said, it’s nice to know it can handle a bit of punishment. I purchased it specifically for situations like this when the forecast turns out completely wrong and Hilleberg lived up to its reputation. I did take it down about an hour earlier than planned, but I just didn’t want to risk destroying it in wind speeds I would not recommend anyone camp in. Especially near a cliff. Appreciate you taking the time to comment. This area is beautiful and I was happy I got to enjoy the afternoon and evening there before the weather turned. I usually keep a Garmin InReach with me to keep in contact with my wife. It also has an SOS button in the event something terrible happens. What a miserable experience! And lucky it wasn’t raining..I had a similar experience at the Trona Pinnacles in the high Mojave desert of eastern California. But I was car camping and had a large tent and a sleeping cot. The national weather service did not make a proper prediction and a wind storm came in with 60-70 mile an hour gusts. My tent partially collapsed, and I was afraid to go outside to check the tent stakes because I was afraid my tent would blow away , so I just sat on my cot all night with the tent sides hitting me in the face. Finally at first light, I got up, broke camp and left. Fortunately, there were no trees to get blown down, but the most miserable night I ever spent.
Sounds like a rough night! No fun when the forecast gets it that wrong. Definitely best to stay put until morning. I had rain for a good portion of the night and it was actually causing the tent to begin to sink into the clay which was terrible to cleanup later when I got home. I was very fortunate it had mostly passed when I decided to bring down the tent. Trip’s like this definitely tend to be the most memorable though 👍. Thanks for sharing! ATB

HUGE TRICK - #1 TIP
If you want to easily gain access to either of the flaps that cover/uncover the ventilation ends, simply disconnect 2 toggles that connect the inner to the outer ROOF, then easily reach over to open/close the flap, easy peasy.
No one not even Hilleberg mentions/shows this TRICK

Good job, getting out & checking on the tent pegs & guyout line tautness. Our Enan's are 3-season tents, good on you for giving credit that the Enan withstood all that punishment. I have an Enan & ALWAYS put big heavy rocks over ALL stakes that I've pounded into the ground, just in case.
When you mix Mother Nature with Human Nature, you're dealing with a lot of variables.
I suspect the tent pole didn't get bent. And that zipper lock down toggle may have prevented the zipper from unzipping which likely would have led to your tents destruction.
The soft clay soil likely was a factor/consideration that you overlooked because both ends of the tent pole & the fiberglass rods at both ends were likely going to keep sinking into the soil causing guyout lines to lose their tautness resulting loose tent fabric UNLESS you placed flat rocks under each end of the tent pole & under the fiberglass poles at both ends of the tent.
I don't know of any other brand that include a toggle to keep the zipper from unzipping in high winds.

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. This was my first time out with the Enan and boy did it get tested. I wouldn’t have taken it out if I knew I was going to get 60mph gusts. Since this trip I started using delta pegs at the ends of the tent and they are fantastic. In addition I’ve added guy lines to the tabs at the end of the tent. All of which have made a world of difference in the wind on other trips. Appreciate the support and thanks again for the comments. ATB
@@GoingSoloOutdoors I, too, have the two added guyout lines at each end of the tent each time I pith it. The attachments are sewn into the tent outer so I use 'em for the added structural support against strong gusty winds like you encountered.

You never answered my question about the Pole. Did it get bent.
If you have a soft sandy soil again, add some support (a flat rock) UNDER each of the fiberglass poles to keep them from sinking into the soft soil as well as both ends of the pole for obvious reasons.
@@azclaimjumper Sorry missed that part. It did in fact warp the pole ever so slightly. I only noticed it because it’s in the opposite direction of the pre-curved sections. About 4 months ago I had it out in Snowdonia in 35 mph winds with the additional guys and I even had the loops at the ends of the poles staked out and the tent did really well! (Have a video for that camp on the channel) Far better than any other tent I’ve ever used in that weight class. I’ve thought about getting a 10mm pole for instances when the forecast calls for winds above 35 mph but I’d probably rather just take my Soulo or Nammatj at that point as the winds can be incredibly variable here and those tents are much more rock solid in high winds. As for the ground I pitched on … I don’t think I’ve ever experienced the consistency of the ground change so drastically like that. If I had known it was clay or that I was going to get that kind weather I would have probably just pitched in a much more suitable spot 👍.
Such different conditions. Educational how even an experienced and well prepared person as yourself can get caught out when conditions take an unexpected turn. I think I'll save coastal camping until the Summer 😆

I don’t think I’ve ever had weather conditions change as drastically as they did on this trip. However, the weather has been a bit crazy here lately. I really appreciate the feedback! I completely understand not being able to watch an hour long video. My own family tells me they won’t watch 😂! Yeah the Enan did incredibly well considering it’s Hillebergs lightest tent and only has a single pole. The loose clay at this spot was less than ideal for the pegs once it started raining so that didn’t help. There are two additional guy out points at the ends of both sides of the tent. I started utilizing them after this trip. On my most recent camp in Snowdonia it was quite windy. (Nothing like this camp though!) I did however use the extra guy out points and it significantly makes a difference in the Enans wind stability. As for whether or not, the Soulo would’ve fared better on this trip. Absolutely. I’ve had it in serious gusts similar to this trip and it feels much more stable, but that’s to be expected considering it has three overlapping poles. I’m definitely not a lightweight camper. I am weight conscious but I no longer obsess about lightweight gear. Quality, durability, and an items pack size typically take precedence on my trips. In my experience your body tells you pretty quickly if you’re carrying too much weight 😀. Appreciate the comments and thanks for watching the video! ATB

@@azdajche it’s an impressive tent and Hilleberg has so many different tent designs which are great. As for the trousers, these are indeed the Fjallraven Keb trousers. Phenomenal for hiking. I also have the Vidda Pro trousers which I use in winter. I’m a bit of a Fjallraven fanboy as I think the G1000 material their products are made from fantastic!! Maybe I will do a clothing flat lay one of these camps.

Had an Akto ripped out of the ground in a storm with forcast 90mph winds, making a good parachute. A gust shot in the door as I was getting in after fixing a corner due to a peg getting pulled out, grabbed a guyline as the tent took off , got dragged along till the gust died. The only damage was a slighly bent pole which hilleberg replaced for free. The wind was so powerful that I could not even kneel without getting knocked over by gusts, but I think the tent would have been okay if pegged better.
Had a 3 season tent collpse in 80mph winds. Best thing to do when it happens is stay put and put the rucksack beside you to take the weight of the wind. In your hilleberg tent , the tent won't be going anywhere if the pole breaks, you don't have to worry about it tearing.
Wow crazy story. Thanks for sharing! I agree, the best thing to do is normally stay put. I had to once in a Big Agnes tent that collapsed on me. Aside from worrying about damaging a brand new tent, my biggest concern was getting off these cliffs before things got worse. Last thing I wanted was to get stuck out there. The cliffs in this area are prone to just falling off into the ocean. My campsite was far enough away that I was safe but the path out back onto the main cliff was extremely close to one of these areas that has disappeared into the ocean below. I only ended up packing the tent away about an hour before I had originally planned so it wasn’t too bad. I was actually extremely impressed the tent could handle those winds given it’s weight class, I only had a slightly bent pole. I didn’t have the two addition guy out points on the ends of the tent attached yet. Since this trip I have added them and they help A LOT! @@GoingSoloOutdoors Other than double poling the tent, it should make a big difference if you added another set of guylines to the pole sleeve and pegged them out along the lognitudinal axis into the wind at 90 degrees to the current guylines, which would stop the pole flattening.
Stupid question, but if the wind gets to that level, is there any way of just collapsing the tent flat, but keeping it pegged down and climbing back in to weigh it down (effectively turning the tent into a giant sleeping bag?)
Yes with many of these tents I will remove the poles and leave it pegged so it does not blow away when packing it down. You could crawl back in but they are not designed for that. The outer waterproof material is not breathable so the condensation would be extreme and you would end up very wet. Great question. Luckily for me I only packed down about an hour before I was planning to 👍. Appreciate the comment! All the best

😆👍 duct tape does solve many problems. Since this camp I have added four additional guy out lines to the ends of the tent that significantly help in its wind stability. I only packed away the tent about an hour early than planned just to be extra cautious with a new tent. It’s nice to see what a tent can handle though. Especially a single pole tunnel tent like this. Yes I think the Soulo would have been fine. However, I was really impressed with how the Enan did being only a single pole tent. Just didn’t want to risk damaging it with the winds increasing. Very impressed with the performance of the Enan considering the conditions! Would you say the ventilation/condensation is any different to the Soulo throughout the seasons?
Considering I did not have the extra guy out points anchored I was also very impressed with the Enan for surviving this. I have since added the them and it definitely improves the stability of the tent in wind. The ventilation can definitely be felt passing through the ends of the tent and this does reduce condensation. This can make it a bit chilly when the temps drop though. @@ApiaryGaming I 100% agree with you! That is actually one of the reasons I never got the Akto. I really love how the center pole keeps the middle of the ends from drooping in the Enan. Whatever you decide I’m sure you’ll be happy. I’ve been extremely happy with each of the Hillebergs I own. When I first got the solo, I said to myself I won’t need any more and you can see how that’s gone 😆. They are all fantastic tents. It really just depends on how you’re going to use it.
@GoingSoloOutdoors It's a shame there's not another model inbetween the Akto and the Enan, with the hood on the door of the fly like the Akto, and the central pole design of the Enan.. I agree they all look like fantastic tents, just trying to only buy one haha. Soulo looks like a beast but a little heavy for longer backpacking trips..
@@ApiaryGaming I agree. It would be nice if the Enan had a hood. Although I’ve been extremely happy with the ventilation in the tent. And you can still unzip a portion of the top if you’d like extra ventilation.

Unfortunately I would have needed too many and I typically try not to alter the places I camp in any way that I can’t easily put back. The biggest problem on this camp aside from probably bringing the wrong tent was the clay I was pitched on. As soon as it got really wet the pegs were just not holding well even with rocks on them. And the tent was actually sinking into the ground. Because this is a tunnel tent which relies on tension for its structure that was just a bad combination. If I had known, the conditions were going to be that bad, I just would not have camped on the coast that night. I have been using a much more accurate weather and wind forecast lately. I’ve actually really happy with an app called Windy.app lately. It actually helped me a lot in planning the camp I just posted on RUclips today. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment! ATB
