    Dr. Katz fan here from Trinidad and Tobago. I adore this show.
    FUN FACT: Jon Benjamin (Ben) and Laura Silverman (Laura) were an item in real life. And according to Katz himself, "the worse things were in their relationship, the better the show was, because there was so much passive aggressive behavior between them on the show and all the couple problems just helped."
    That explains so much.

  • @ajaycero9076
    @ajaycero9076 9 лет назад +31

    Ah...Ben had the life. I had a treehouse as a kid, but it was like, actually in a tree. Like, thirty feet up in a tree, so it was legit. There were some nice plywood steps nailed on the stump of the tree. It was pretty cool, being perched up there....like a bird. A falcon, if you will....a powerful...purposeful....falcon.
    Then, one day, I'm in the treehouse, enjoying my childhood, and you'll never believe it....
    The branches holding up the treehouse break
    So I fall thirty feet or so...
    I hit some lower branches on the way down to break my fall, and I hit the ground...my whole body hurts, I can't really move, and my dad comes over.
    My mom's freaking out....I'm laying there going
    "Everything hurts! But, I think I'm okay."
    My mom is going----
    OH MY GAWD OHH NOOO THIS IS WHY YOU DONT CLIMB TREES EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU'RE UP THERE I FREAK OUT AND NOW IM REALLY FREAKING OUT!!! YOU'RE GROUNDED!
    Which made me think of something witty and clever for being eight years old at the time. I said...
    "Can I get more grounded than this, mom? I'm on the ground. I can't move. I can't even go to my room for a timeout. I'm in a worse timeout. I'm outside, injured, in the dirt. I just fell two stories....and I'm in trouble?"
    She goes "Well, when you put it that way..."
    Then my dad comes by. He heard all the commotion with my mom freaking out and screaming...
    He's got his trusty toolbox in his hand...
    And he goes "Son, you wanna rebuild that treehouse? I think I fucked it up."
    Now that, is probably the biggest foundation for a joke you've ever heard, right? And you're wondering....what's so funny?
    --->My dad's a structural engineer.

    oh god i remember the 'i'm buying batteries' bloke and i had no idea that was marc maron. i know all of these comedian's bits but i'm only learning who they are now as actual people. i just know the drawings and the comedy bits. so weird how this show does that to you. plus i'm not from america so 25+ years after i watched this as a teen, i'm starting to match the actual people to the animation.

    Ever since I first saw this episode on the 90s, I’ve threatened people (not seriously) using “I’ll build you a treehouse.”
