I remember picking this album up in hmv when it came out. It is genuinely one of the best albums I've ever heard and I don't even fuck with indie much anymore...more of a death/black metal guy and hip hop. It is undeniably great and they should have been bigger.
I'm not sure if this is how it was meant to sound, but I relate this song to a friend of mine who commit suicide, and I couldn't do anything to stop them, and I was the only person who knew. The guilt I felt for years and years was immeasurable, I still can't get over it, it drove me to believe I was useless and I shouldn't get to attached to anything, because everything ends. His name is Albwin and he is basically one half of a god, who was abused all his life, because he looks pretty odd. He thinks he's the one responsible for the approaching end of the world and desperately tries to stop it, but is destined to fail no matter what he does. After a while, he ultimately succumbs to that same world ending force, and begins to loose his mind, until his best friend shows up, and he has to watch his own body's attempts to destroy them, while his friend does all he can to fight back. In the end his friend manages to save the world and turns out to be the child of the King that Alb's father, the King of a neighbouring kingdom, killed, which was what actually cause the end of the world to approach, because said King happened to be the other half of that same god, who was trying to piece itself together to consume what it created. Because his friend was the child of that King, they were the one to inherit the piece of that god, after they managed to break the curse their father placed on it, in his dying breaths. The world gets saved, the two both surivived and end up confessing their love for one another... Happy ending, right? Wrong. Remember, they are now two halfs of a creature that is trying to repair itself... the two halfs they carry are calling out to each other... And so, both of them know, if either one of them should end up dying, the other will loose their mind and try to consume the missing piece, while they also can't be sure they if actually love each other, or it's just those pieces causing them to feel drawn to one another. And this is just one OC from one universe. There are also Quass, Ziron and Wolfrick, who all have their own... well, they share a universe, but all of them live a few hundred years apart. One watched his family die, one was captured and tortured until he just broke, and the last is a half-giant werewolf, whose tribe is at war with an empire and who fell in love with the prince of said empire. This song feels like someone sinking deep into water and you try your very best to swim as fast as you could to save the person. As you swim towards them, they only smile at you with sadness, not moving a muscle to save themselve. Before you could even swim halfway to them, something stops you and pulls you out the water. It's like they already knew they were too far to be saved.
IMO this song is definitely about wishing to able to save someone who’s too far gone/maybe even to the point where you eventually loose the person you were trying to save and you blame yourself

Honestly this makes me think about a girl walking in an empty space suddenly seeing the people who she is befriend with all together on a string. As she walks further she some making more connections and some breaking. As this makes her sad she starts to pull some people by their string trying to help them get on the right path. Then one friend of hers realizes what she is doing. He tries to help her but he is stuck to his own strings. Something like friendship is a complicated network and could trap you easily or bring you to the wrong path she says. Still trying to keep everyone together. All on her own.
I'm not sure what others interpret this song as, but I picture someone who is sad, but that bitter type of sad, like you can't do anything right and you feel hopeless, but you can see the irony of it, the irony of the world and the unfairness of it ('He laughed in the wrong voice for redemption', 'He couldn't be saved' ect).
After reading 'Don't Tell The Nazis' this song hits so much different and now I almost start crying. I think of Boyrs and Dolik and how they both began happy and ended fearfully. They feared the next day, knowing death could find them. And although they tried to act brave, they knew they couldn't be save.

I always come back to this song when I'm feeling down and depressed because it reminds me of how I feel. My friends never stay with me, every relationship I get into I ruin it and I feel like a big mess up. I can't ever keep anything consistent in my life. I hope this will get better for me but I've been starting to loose hope.

As a child i was obsessed with characters and fandoms i loved these songs that artists and fans alike used i hyper fixated on these songs this song being one i love this song so much to the point were im having trouble typing this out without stopping to appreciate the song. Im not really nostalgic but rather its like im telaported and im feeling the same way as i did as a small kid listening to this song on Spotify for days on end. its truly nothing but joy despite its dark lyrics my journey as a person has just started but i still feel like im looking back at my roots. Im nothing but thankful and happy for my “cringy” interests as a child inspired my artistic career and self identity. Im so happy so happy that I enjoyed things so passionately so happy that i can remember them again im happy although this childish joy will end im still glad i got to feel it. Honestly this makes me think about a girl walking in an empty space suddenly seeing the people who she is befriend with all together on a string. As she walks further she some making more connections and some breaking. As this makes her sad she starts to pull some people by their string trying to help them get on the right path. Then one friend of hers realizes what she is doing. He tries to help her but he is stuck to his own strings. Something like friendship is a complicated network and could trap you easily or bring you to the wrong path she says. Still trying to keep everyone together. All on her own.

I always come back to this song when I'm feeling down and depressed because it reminds me of how I feel. My friends never stay with me, every relationship I get into I ruin it and I feel like a big mess up. I can't ever keep anything consistent in my life. I hope this will get better for me but I've been starting to loose hope.

I relate though not to such a severe level, I started being really all over the place and I kept saying things people found really distasteful online on my discord server, and I stopped talking there altogether, i talk to only one person now because of the guilt, apparently I ruined someone's appetite, someone who already barely eats... I always ruin the mood in any social situation because I just feel the need to say something..

As a child i was obsessed with characters and fandoms i loved these songs that artists and fans alike used i hyper fixated on these songs this song being one i love this song so much to the point were im having trouble typing this out without stopping to appreciate the song. Im not really nostalgic but rather its like im telaported and im feeling the same way as i did as a small kid listening to this song on Spotify for days on end. its truly nothing but joy despite its dark lyrics my journey as a person has just started but i still feel like im looking back at my roots. Im nothing but thankful and happy for my “cringy” interests as a child inspired my artistic career and self identity.
