  • I had a chance to visit the last Colorado & Southern narrow gauge baggage car in existence. It was rescued from use as a farm shed and restored at the Stuhr Museum in Nebraska. It is presently kept indoors and in very good condition. See my blog post for more detail: alpinetunnel.blogspot.com/202...
Thanks to T. Greuter for use of his 2001 photos of No. 2 and the Nebraska Midland Railroad. www.trainweb.org/screamingeagl...
Thanks also to the Midcontinent Railway Museum's research on C&S passenger cars www.midcontinent.org/rollings...

Looks great! Glad to see it preserved,😁 if not being used.😐 Wow! It weighs as much as a Greyhound Bus!😲

Can't fault them for anything they've done to the car. At least it's in a lot better shape than it was previously...
Thank you for sharing this information.

Agreed. C&S baggage car No. 3 was also on a farm in the Longmont area. It got bulldozed in 2005, so an altered baggage car is better than a bulldozed one!

If you make the trip, give them a call in advance. Since the car is not in a public viewing location they have to get someone to open the restoration shed for you. They were happy to do so, but it took me a couple phone calls to get it arranged.

I just went to your channel and watched a video with your model of baggage car #2. Great video and great model! I really enjoyed seeing the car in motion with a C&S train.

The last I heard (back in 2018) was that 911 was never really restored, but just kept intact and in the museum building in Silver Plume.

From what I gather, the entire body and roof are. The frame and running gear was added. Oshlo told me that some of the metal pieces that were missing were fabricated to match the remaining pieces.
