He bags Mitsubishi Pajero and Nissan Patrol but sounds the Trumpet of praise for his LandCruiser. Mitsubishi Pajero even made it into the Guinness World book of records due to the staggering number of wins on the Paris Dakar circuit, a total of 12 championships out of 24 entries. Toyota Land cruiser have never won even though they had countless entries.

My dad had/has (I'm not too sure as its been a while) an engel fridge for donkeys years, even has one in his work truck that gets abused with oil all over it, holding stupid heavy items at times and still runs mint. It could also be I've never really experienced any other brand other than evacool. But hey I'm open to trying new things aslong as it doesnt cost me an arm and a leg🤣

Hi from Queensland, I own 2 Nissan Patrols, a 1989 and a 2007. They are nicknamed Gnarly and Berries. I really like the vehicles but I must admit that they are perceived as bogan mobiles. On the 4wd tracks here at Kenilworth we see many more bogans in Patrols than any other brand. But that does not include me or my wife of course 😉
I’ve driven most tracks at Kenilworth a few 2-3 years ago. We went back recently to drive some of our favourite tracks only to find out they’ve barricaded it off. It really put a dampener on things for us. But I believe the reasoning was the amount of ‘P’ plate bogans that come through. and toss litter out onto the tracks and destroy them. There was one in particularly that was a fantastic track to drive it was just past ‘horse shoe rd’ just off ‘Sunday creek rd’. Such a shame it’s been closed down.
@@MetalHayd Hi, I talked to a couple of the forestry guys and they told me that when they are working in an area, they will close off the tracks for safety reasons until the work is complete. Some of the tracks have been reopened now.

I’m from the Uk, London area and have always looked on in envy at how in Australia and South Africa you can simply drive off road into the wilderness and almost go anywhere you desire. What a privilege.

Loudest trucks I've run into in my travels around Australia are toyota v8. I couldn't care what brand of truck drive. Respect for others, safety and the environment.

I’ve traveled round Australia and seen many, what you call “bogans” in my eyes just wankers, drive vehicles of all sorts. I’ve seen rich people also ruin camp sites just as much as “bogan” oriented people. Manufacturers got nothing to do with it. Those P plater and certain aged crowd purchase certain vehicles because they think it’s cool. For eg lots of p platers buy a GQ patrol and younger adults buy a 79 dual cab when they aren’t a farmer and have to live with a mortgage on wheels and then try sell it for ridiculous money for the balloon payment. I really couldn’t care about race, colour or wealth of anyone as I only care if you a polluting our environment and leaving rubbish everywhere and doing burnouts and damaging the tracks to just show off to your barely legal girlfriend. I’m bit old school sure but I’d rather have have respect then Instagram followers. D**kheads come in all shapes and sizes unfortunately.
100% The gqs are an affordable solid car that’ll take you places so it attracts a younger crowd, but I find the 79 series drivers around the vic high country are the loudest and worst people to set up camp near. Gross.
A VALUED COMMENT FROM ROB: Andrew, I would disagree that “they know who they are”. Few people - some, but not many - are deliberate wanton douchebags. They just think this is acceptable. Their peers think it’s acceptable. Their RUclips heroes think it’s acceptable. The 4WD retail accessories industry throws ads in their face showing it as acceptable. Even the 4WD manufacturers advertise that way. There is an entire generation of younger Australian 4WDers getting into the hobby not because their parents did, but because their friends are. Whereas once they’d have got their left and right of arc described to them by Dad, or a traditional club, or a reputable industry magazine, now they watch Fully Sik Full Send on RUclips instead. They’re not deliberately bogans. They just don’t know any better. Very very true!!! The likes of Graeme and Shauno (24/7 4x4 or whatever they call themselves), do more damage to the image of 4 wheel drivers than anything else. None of this has the slightest bias towards the poor old, defence-less Nissan Patrol. For what it's worth, my Silverado rides on 37" tyres and I barely ever take it off road. 37" tyres do NOT equal bad drivers or behaviour. Andy, your propensity for generalising detracts from your otherwise excellent content.
There used to be defensive driving courses, for car, bikes and off-road. In OLD it was run by the RACQ and cost was under a $100, this was 30 odd years ago. It would be nice if the likes of RACQ, RAC and dealers offered some sort of training.
Here is the difference: there are the ones that like to go off road to enjoy nature and get way. The peace, quiet, the birds, flowers, mountains, dunes, fresh air, the tranquility. bliss. And there are the ones that like to go off road and destroy nature and crash it under their 70" tires. We all know and understand the difference.

@@airbats801 on the NSW Central Coast it's pretty easy to see when someone has pushed through the scrub and then everyone starts to follow. Next thing you know that track is ripped up as much as the original. It doesn't get a chance to recover as they just keep driving over it until it's all dead.
As someone who has lived in the remote outback, North West of WA, for 30 years and has been 4wdíng since childhood (and 4x4 all day long as my day job) - you are spot on with the recent drift toward horrible attitudes ,bad driving and environmental damage. Though it is painting with a broad brush, "bogan" behaviour in capable 4x4s is very disappointing. Only yesterday did I see a 4wd (yes a Patrol) hooning along a closed beach that has hundred of endangered Loggerhead turtle nests, and it is turtle egg hatching season. Access to the beach is closed with large signs and gates requesting stay away from turtle nests, yet they were driving right over them. This is not an isolated incident either, and has been occurring more frequently. it is a serious environmental concern.

Coming from the younger generation my self included own a patrol, i think it is just the younger generation still maturing and learning to respect others and the bush. I do hope we as a generation do change for the better before more areas do shut down.
As solo female traveller I have learnt that it is an older Patrol I have to look out for, followed closley by a brand spanking new Ford Ranger. The only times I have felt and/or been threatened is by the drivers of these vehicles. I have also noticed a sharp decline in the condition of off road tracks. Some our now impassible, just chewed up. Espicially those closer to towns as lockdowns meant 'fun' was being sourced closer to home. My neighbour is a ranger and tells me the damage is extensive. There is concern for the next bad fire season as fire trucks etc will not be able to get in to extinguish fires. They had only really finished cleaning up the track from the shocking fires we had, now with the massive rainfalls here on the east coast in the last two summers coupled with the idots tearing up the tracks it's like having to start up again. Ha dont get him started on the mess being made on the beaches.
Problem is I'm afraid: banning beach and wilderness driving because of too much testosterone out there driving badly is just the next fatal step after banning sporty competition, shouting and physical fighting as "toxic masculinity" from kindergardens, schoolyards and playgrounds, replacing it with female toxicity like reputation-ruining and "safety" rule-implementing. I travelled a lot over the last 45 years (male singlehander though) and found the worst problems for everyone, no matter where on the globe, always in places "woke" feminists had tried to "fix". City capitalism (green washed electro-bikes, electro cars, electro-everything for the ones well off and "don't do anything" for the deplorables) is another problem, which ain't gendered as much as "bad driving" and "wilderness hooliganism" was though.

Wait a minute. I’m a Californian who married a Australian over 45 years ago. She has been calling me a Bogan for years! I asked her what that meant and she said it was a “form of endearment” jeeez.
It's similar in the UK, I bought an ex army Defender to do green laning with my children, had some great days but now a lot of the lanes are deliberately spiked or blocked by locals, when you see the larger groups of people that blast past peoples front doors it's easy to see why the locals get pissed off and eventually have the lanes closed completely. I won't mention the usual types of vehicle but suffice to say more is spent on tyres a lift kit, popcorn remap and a hi lift jack than on the purchase of the vehicle. Its a shame and more lanes are being closed or having restrictions placed on them.
I think in this context Bogans could also be described as the Send It Crew. If you really think you need 35’s to get to the beach and know intimately what your rev limiter sounds like: that’s you, no matter that you’re driving. Of course this has led to the drivetrain arms race for more 4WD owners now that the tracks are chopped out. No one left in Parks and Wildlife to occasionally drag a railway tie or bent track section to knock off the hump. Times have changed that’s for sure.
When I started 4 wheel driving, which I started as a traveller to North Africa in 1997, it already has been like this here in Germany. Restrictions all over and it gets worse these days all over Europe and in North Africa. In the early days, where the word overland did not exist as the meaning it has today, there where the 4x4 clubs and a handfull of globetrotters in 4x4 vehicles. Most of the globetrotters drove old military trucks and the guys in the smaller 4x4s had G Wagon, Landrover or Toyota Landcruiser, seldom a Nissan Patrol. All these restrictions that we had later on in North Africa, as the rules for an accompanying local guide in Tunisia or Libya (where you had to take a police officer as well) or nowadays in Algeria (where I will go in 2 weeks from now) have mainly to do with "adventure tourists in 4x4s" not travellers. These tourists are doing this kind of travelling for other reasons as someone who is interessted in cultures, environments and people in other countries. The automobile industry is building 4x4s and the community like magazines, websites, influencers, tourism industry, 4wd businesses ... is building the lifestyle and anyone in this industry wants to make an income. As you said, its a bit as in any industrie fishing, hunting ... name it. Some of the big names in the german overland industrie do have their part in the restrictions in travelling North Africa. As long as the companies are small and owner operated, the heartbeat goes with the corporate identity. As they grow, the numbers of clients has to grow. But where out of a sudden do these overlanders all come from??? Its a bit like a hipe since 10/15 years. But the places you can go do not get more. So it will get more crowded and as mankind is, there will be more rules and restrictions, no matter what make once is driving. We had the idea of a 4x4 travel ethic around 2000. Together with the old Sahara Forum by Yves Laboulette and a few commercials and travellers. But what is an ethic noone is really interessted in? Someone like you could use his name for a thing like that! 10 simple rules (take your rubbish, behave like you want your visitors to behave, respect other cultures even if you are not agreeing with, don't take things that do not belong to you like artefacts, ...) or what ever is neede for our self control before it gets worse. It's the same with cross country cycling or down hill, before you could go everywhere where you want as there were only a few. Now there are so many right that Forrest owners 8nly allow cycling on the normal paths and it will end in a total ban of cycling. They just ignore, build their own trails and even use chain saws. Garbage everywhere, damaged trees and blocked ditches.
It's sad how 4x4s that were once used as bullet proof overlanders are now turning into urban tractors for school run. First it was the discovery, then the G class, following with that it's the Patrol and now it's the legendary Land Rover Defender. RIP to all these 4x4s. Much rather build a restored patrol y60 over the luxury apartment on wheels.

I've seen woman & children near run over. My own father went wild when a 4x4 cut in on us, fool drove under his fishing rod dragging it down the beach.. I wonder sometimes if it goes back to the basics of parenting or the lack of. Or is it a popularity contest on social media ?? Thats another thing that annoys me. Well said! Luckily they tend to stay in the mudholes. What cracks me up are the giant RAMS with 30inch rims, 33 inch mud tires and 3 foot lifts. Not only will they never see dirt but they would be horrid off road.
I live in Western Australia and have been four wheel driving since the 1980s and we have lost access to a huge number of really nice places due to a small minority of people who would be happier driving around a tank testing ground than really travelling to remote and wild places. Possibly the travel restrictions have worsened the problem as have four wheel drives becoming more powerful and faster than previous generations that were slower and a lot more agricultural and not seen as a youthful vehicle, I fear for future generations not having the opportunity to drive on beaches wild camp things that the previous generations took for granted.Regards Mike
Agree! I live near the Barrington tops/ Nundle SF and I’ve been camping there for years. The tracks in the parks are starting to close due to being cut up by the usual suspects. The remote access to these parks and forests may be shut down soon. There definitely needs to be education so that these remain open for our kids to enjoy.
On my last trip to Dirk Hartog Island some of the driving on the steep point road was shocking the digging of huge holes in the track by V8 vehicles not engaging four wheel drive till bogged or lowering tyre pressure made it so much harder for people towing or with less clearance
They're dangerously modded because there's no avenue to do it safely like in WA. Why go to the expense of the extra parts if your going to get defected either way.

Every state has fairly restrictive (for good reason) laws on modifications, in particular for the discussion of smog blasters it's illegal to defeat emissions control systems like the DPF because diesel soot is terrible for anything that breathes.

Andrew - you are preaching to the wrong audience here.The demographic you refer is not terribly likely to have any interest in your style of review or opinion. What you have done is generalize and in doing so alienated many of the more responsible 4WD’s out there - many of whom drive Patrol’s for a variety of good reasons. You clearly have not travelled and experienced the 4wd culture in many places around Australia - at least not as much as you need to before casting such gross dispersions. You continue in your failing to understand that there are just as many ‘bogans’ in other vehicles. Many of which have much newer and far less capable vehicles and do far more damage to the tracks and endanger the relative freedoms that we currently have, not to forget animal and human life. I have seen Patrol drivers that are twits but I have seen more Cruiser drivers that possess such arrogance that they dangerously destroy tracks trying to achieve an outcome that could be done sympathetically. I believe there may be a connection with the perception of indestructibility of a Toyota. This also applies to so many of the newer breed of 4WD’s just trying to keep up with the solid axle vehicles. You need to look over your own video again and study the responses in much greater detail - there are several things you have failed to address adequately here that were clearly outlined in the commentary. I fear that you have likely polarized too many people - many of whom may not return to your channel and therefore not respond to this video. I am unsure at this point but I believe that I might see an arrogance in your behavior that is unbefitting a contemporary motoring journalist. I might add that many people wont want to be tared with that brush - even as a viewer………
I have watched a lot ASPW and most of them I found to be very informative if you are building a overlander or dreaming of the life style. He has brilliant photography skills that really brings over a beautiful story. Unfortunately with this 15 minutes he has in many ways destroyed that illusion or dream. To dislike a car and refuse to own one because of one or two people that you have come across is a bit ridiculous and short sighted. Mr ASPW I am sorry but you have disappointed me but never the less I will still continue to enjoy my patrol despite what you say even if I fit 37 inch wheels. There are many of us who do modifications to our cars to enjoy them more. And oh by the way the majority of your videos are about you improving your Toyota. And oh by the way the majority of us do respect nature and the trails. Dont let one or two idiots ruin it for you and you never own a Patrol.

My theory is, and only in the Australian context, is that the bogans that once drove Commodores and Falcons have now got into 4wds - Patrol, Hilux and Tritons to supplement their Kias and Hyundai’s. What are the import laws in Australia? There is a business here in s.a. called "American motors" and import brand new American cars here to sell. How hard would it be to make "U.A.E. motors" and import brand new Nissan patrols straight from the Nissan dealerships I've there?
We get a range of American vehicles here too under low volume import laws, mostly pickups, Mustangs and Camaros....they have to be converted to RHD, and must also meet all our vehicle standards just like new vehicles through a dealership do.... I believe that in the form of the 3.0l four cylinder diesels (the only engine option in their last few years on sale here) the patrols would not meet current emissions laws, tho not sure about the petrol versions, so it may need a new engine before being soldhere again....
I do not understand why people dive in make comments and do not listen to exactly what point another person is making. They only have their own opinion and that is that. It becomes an argument not a discussion from them.

Talks a big game about driving skill yet I haven't seen any videos of actually driving challenging tracks. Driving flat gravel roads and a few sand dunes is basically touring. It's no wonder he has such a vendetta against big lifts and tyres.
Man…some people are so sensitive (keyboard warriors) but it I must say their is a guilty group of Landcruiser /Ute owners with aluminium canopy and arb gear all over it acting very much like the entitled ones that must be honoured and obeyed. Anyway don’t bother about the detractors.
You nailed it.... GQs and GUs just have historically been a bogan 4wd, however as they age and become more "classic" they are falling out of the scene now to an extent...and are being replaced by every cheap 10-15 year old turbo diesel dual cab ute you can think of 😅
I've had LandCruisers and patrols and Pajeros the best are the Pajero. LandCruisers are crap box's on wheels too many things go wrong. Ford Broncos are probably worse, cramped up fuel guzzlers

Andrew, you have hit the nail right on the head. This has happened where I live and you will know it very well, Exmouth WA. I have lived here now for 27 years and we could drive on a number of our beaches, especially the westside. Now all but closed off, not saying it was only about the bogan 4WDrivers but had a lot to do with it. Now it has started on the Exmouth Gulf side beaches recently, the far northern beach closed to vehicles. The way some 4WDrivers that driving along the gulf beaches, more will close, some are just crazy idiots and they fit your description perfectly.
The problem with this guy is that he bags Mitsubishi Pajero and Nissan Patrol but blows his trumpet with the Toyota Land cruisers, even though he's never worked on them. Ask him how Toyota Land cruiser never won a Paris to Dakar? The guy makes me laugh & he’s an excellent storyteller/film maker & he’s an experienced overlander, done more than his fair share of travelling. I think he’s got good intentions & a lovely wife/family, therefore he must be doing something right. This very week we saw Bogan morons in action up on Bribie Island. For over a decade now newly arrived residents at flash new canal estates on Bribie have been campaigning to stop people 4wding on 'their beaches', which we have done for generations now. This goose was filmed absolutely ploughing into a creek at high tide - right beside kids playing in the water ... and surprise surprise he flooded it and it began to float away. Qld Police even posted it on Facebook as they were after the goose - and they did get him. 100% agree - these are the morons that will kill 4WDing for ALL of us. And the same goes with people that leave all their rubbish and broken gazebos everywhere. :(
You are wrong about it being newly arrived residents. Most of us newbies support it remaining open. It is the older people who have lived here for decades that want is shut down. These same people also hate all the newly arrived residents.
Well said Andrew, having owned a Nissan GQ (the hand grenade model), it took us fishing and camping to some very remote spots, loved that vehicle. We have also had our trip ruined by the selfish yobbos who think they can do what they like, don’t know what the solution to that sort of behaviour. Maybe it’s up to all of us to call it out when it occurs so we (and them) can enjoy the great Aussie outdoors, bush and beach.

Hey Mate, I'm going to firmly disagree with your assessment here. There are plenty of disrespectful people driving Toyota's as well. I know this because, when my Prado fell apart with a known fault (Toyota even makes genuine parts to remedy the situation) and Toyota failed under their legal obligations to repair or refund me my money, there were plenty (near to 100%) of disrespectful, arrogant, derogatory people pointed in my direction, for merely suggesting that Toyota's are less than perfect. I also received some threats to my safety, which I had to deal with. I have megabytes of examples, screenshots from Facebook and othe social media, if you'd like to view them. There are plenty of bogan driving Toyota 79s, Ute's, and dual cabs, and (shock, horror, gasp) troopies as well. I've bought a Nissan Patrol after owning Toyota's all my life and, I'll tell you what. Brutus, my 2015 GU y61 Patrol will outdrive any of them. Any time, any place. To say that bogans only drive Nissan's, and that all Nissan drivers are bogan is factually inaccurate.

Not sure what Andrew is talking about in the Video. I thought thw GU was discontinued in 2013 and is not longer sols anywhere. Only the Y62 is sold right now. And that is not really built for offroading. Does he want some resurrection of the GU?
Good points Sir. I agree with the greater idea you are pitching. In Canada (my area of Canada that is) the 6" lifted black Dodge diesel 3/4 or 1 ton truck with blacked out lights and rims, fully tinted windows, and aftermarket exhausts etc. Is the cliche 4x4 bogan. Not everyone driving these rigs is a bad apple but the vehicle type meets the stereotype. Tough not to notice the brand and modification association to belligerent behavior. The people who are the exception to this observation will of course be cross with this observation but again, the stereotype comes from something somewhere. Now, all that said these guys are usually parking lot princesses. It's the side by side that is the off road menace in the bush. Haha, I shall now await the appropriate internet ridicule.

The last Dodge made pickups were the third generation Ram ( before Ram split from Dodge in Oct 2009 to become a seperate brand and manufacturer ) so I guess that they’re old enough and cheap enough for young bogans to buy.

I find it hilarious how some people get that attached to a brand. I’m a mechanic and I’ve had pretty much every brand of 4x4 including a couple of Patrols in which one turned in to a grenade even with the mods. The fact is though and i was only thinking it a couple of weeks ago standing in line at the servo. I was about 6 people back from the counter and the guy second in line has the worst mullet you’ve ever seen wearing a hi vis shirt (total bogan) and as i looked outside I was like you know what? I bet he is the one in that Patrol that looks like it hadnt had a wash since the showroom! Guess what it was his car🤷🏻♂️😂! And saying that i can also say being a mechanic I’ll never own a Land rover product because like everyone I have my reasons why. The fact is we can all have different opinions and that is why there is different brands because we all have our reasons and choices. They are a nightmare to do anything on, break easily (including air suspension) and end up with electrical issues that do your head in, overheat transmissions from factory towing caravans and are expensive to maintain and parts availability is very limited. The companies that do keep parts charge a premium for the convenience of having them in the country. I’m sure some people love them though, just not me. They drive ok between break downs though😜!

Don't get me wrong when it's a mid week built newer Landy they're a good, capable machine but generally overcomplicated and overpriced! I want you to research the environmental damage your solar panels are causing. The production of photovoltaic cells is so polluting essentially all are made where environmental protections are low. The carbon foot print to manufacture, transport and install is not small. But, most importantly at the end of the panels lifespan it it’s destined for one place, a landfill. The dismantling and disposal of windmills and solar panels has been described as potentially the greatest ecological problem facing the earth over the next thirty years as the billions of dollars worth of government subsidized machines become trash.
With Australias border closures I’d imagine the problem has got worse. People not being able to travel so buying a 4x4 and not respecting the landscape etc making the problem worse for everyone
As someone who has got a Y62 on order (replaced our LX570) I agree about the bogan element that like the Patrol. Am I 1? no (well I don't think so) but I also know that I would rather be the change I want to see so if there are more of us who are respectful/nicer/etc we can rebuild the image of the vehicles.
Most ratbags we have had the misfortune to camp alongside have been driving heavily modified loud Landcruiser 70's. Ive never had a single issue with a Patrol owner.
We always found it was guys in older Hiluxs and maybe the odd 70 series. The guys in 80s and GQ etc were always just fine. I think they just had nothing to prove.

We’ve got the same thing here in North America. Specifically Canada, more specifically Quebec except they’re called douchebags! They are easily identified by their white framed sunglasses, lots of crappy tattoos and pickups with six inch body lifts and 20 inch wheels with big negative offsets and low profile tires. Oddly many of them are roofers by trade. Since Covid, these types have have started spending more time outdoors camping and off-roading with no respect for basic rules and simple common sense and courtesy just like in Australia ruining it for everyone else and future generations…
The bogan element have increased off road of late purely because they can’t go to Bali due to the plandemic. 🙄 As a former forester, wildlife officer and Govt land estate manager in WA - we used to block off access to coastal tracks etc in national parks once the bogan element (4wd off-road clubs primarily) with their jacked up V8 loud large wheeled convoys of vehicles moved in. One of the principal reasons was, due to not bothering to lower tyre pressures they would chew out 2 wheel rut sand tracks to such a depth that management agency’s responsible for eg fighting wildfires in that national park could no longer get in or out in the standard 4WDs that Govt fleet purchasers provided for doing that job. 🙄 Now there’s an entire bogan “aftermarket industry dedicated to making vehicles capable of doing just that, buggering the tracks so that no standard 4WD can access it any longer. Worse, in WA, with our insidious incurable Jarrah Dieback disease (Phytophthera cinnamomi) - I see “brand specific” 4WD groups on Farcebook arranging “group outings” to take convoys out into our Jarrah forests around Perth & the southwest in Autumn & Spring to specifically go “play in the mud holes” the moment it rains. The same mud that spreads Jarrah dieback disease from one water catchment to the next thus sentencing every Jarrah tree and Banksia species downslope from there to the sea with a death sentence. Now killing our forests is “organised events” on social media. 🙄 Come with us & we will teach you how to “drive your 4WD” which today is a euphemism for “kill our Jarrah forests. 🤬👎 In spring & autumn, these groups could go to the dunes, the coastal Heath tracks, the pine forests or even the Wandoo woodlands further east of Perth in spring & Autumn when the fungal disease spores are at their most active and 4WD to their hearts content - without killing every plant in sight - but nope, it’s the damn Jarrah forests they choose every time. Powerline track anyone? 🙄🤬👎 I personally blame the aftermarket industry largely for promoting the bogan off-road image and ethos as well as the 4WD social media influencers (such as your good self) for “popularising” this type of off-road bogan image / persona. You breeze in here with ya David Rabbitburrow impersonation, with zero knowledge of local environmental issues and profess yourself to be the local doyen of off-road touring? 🙄 There are local experts in these issues who have forgotten more than you will ever know about these topics. May I offer a counter point. In your scenario, the fellas driving “irresponsibly” on the beach are only a talking point for the officials wanting to close the beach. they get us pointing fingers at each other. The end goal is to close all tracks. Here in nor cal officials have been trying to shut down the rubicon trail for years citing any number of irresponsible activities. I think the thing that stops the officials in our instance is that the trail would be impassable if it were not for volunteers maintaining what is supposed to be a county rd. In summary, government officials will incite us to regulate our peers, and in turn incite our peers to regulate us.

It usally is the behavior of idiots that ruin it for the rest of us. I've seen it not only on beach driving but campgrounds, bike trails and areas set aside for fishing / hunting.
The entire point is to get the idiots to stop to keep the tracks open. If everyone defends the idiots then everyone gets associated with the same antisocial destructive behaviour and the legitimate uses of the tracks are no longer apparent, leaving no reason to keep them open.
Good point, but I’d say the battle over Oceano Dunes is equally as relevant. They are shutting down the only remaining beach in California that you can drive on.
I do agree with you, however I don’t really care much about the vehicle but the mentality of those who drive them. We have been 4W driving for over 30 years and have seen the gradual incline of people who drive like idiots. It doesn’t mater what they drive but how they drive it with the person behind the wheel. The appearance make and affordability of vehicle does also attribute to this. Maturity happens but is slow. I do believe that with SocialMedia and the availability of certain programmes does encourage some of the behaviour in certain age groups who think it is ok to behave the same way. Maybe there should be actions from these people to make changes in how they behave
Yes. Just look at the war game mentality which seems to be universal now. Violence and destruction are normalised and glorified instead of boring behaviours like respect, tolerance and consideration for others.
I used to love going down to Sodwana in the 90's and park my Nissan Safari on the beach with side-awning & camp chairs out close enough to the tidal pools to keep an eye on our young kids while waiting for my next scuba dive. I was furious when I heard about a change in the regulations due to the behaviour of a few hooligans that screwed it up for so many. Understandably, in the good ol' days Sodwana Bay beach was a showcase of all brands of 4x4's, many with fancy extras fitted but the 'boguns' were very noticable, aggravated by alcohol. And so, sadly, a very special era came to an end.
Well said Andrew. I have owned 2 Patrols in the past, a GQ and a GU. Both were fantastic off road, and extremely rugged in construction. The criticism I would have about still selling them (or rather why they aren't still sold here) is that the Y61 Patrol frontal offset collision rating is very low scoring only 6 out of 16 in 2011 (last tested) where Toyota 76 series vehicles in 2016 scored 14 out of 16 and perfect scores in the other crash tests, with a final score of 35 out of 37 which is amazing for a vehicle of that nature. Some people may think this isn't important, but if you have teenage children that want to borrow the car, and you get a knock on the door and someone telling you your child has been killed in a car accident, it is too late to re-think that choice.

Hi from Queensland, I own 2 Nissan Patrols, a 1989 and a 2007. They are nicknamed Gnarly and Berries. I really like the vehicles but I must admit that they are perceived as bogan mobiles. On the 4wd tracks here at Kenilworth we see many more bogans in Patrols than any other brand. But that does not include me or my wife of course 😉

I’ve driven most tracks at Kenilworth a few 2-3 years ago. We went back recently to drive some of our favourite tracks only to find out they’ve barricaded it off. It really put a dampener on things for us. But I believe the reasoning was the amount of ‘P’ plate bogans that come through. and toss litter out onto the tracks and destroy them. There was one in particularly that was a fantastic track to drive it was just past ‘horse shoe rd’ just off ‘Sunday creek rd’. Such a shame it’s been closed down.
There are plenty of Bogans in Landcruiser, too.
@@MetalHayd Hi, I talked to a couple of the forestry guys and they told me that when they are working in an area, they will close off the tracks for safety reasons until the work is complete. Some of the tracks have been reopened now.

Those P plater and certain aged crowd purchase certain vehicles because they think it’s cool. For eg lots of p platers buy a GQ patrol and younger adults buy a 79 dual cab when they aren’t a farmer and have to live with a mortgage on wheels and then try sell it for ridiculous money for the balloon payment.
I really couldn’t care about race, colour or wealth of anyone as I only care if you a polluting our environment and leaving rubbish everywhere and doing burnouts and damaging the tracks to just show off to your barely legal girlfriend. For what it's worth, my Silverado rides on 37" tyres and I barely ever take it off road. 37" tyres do NOT equal bad drivers or behaviour. Andy, your propensity for generalising detracts from your otherwise excellent content.
There used to be defensive driving courses, for car, bikes and off-road.
In OLD it was run by the RACQ and cost was under a $100, this was 30 odd years ago.
It would be nice if the likes of RACQ, RAC and dealers offered some sort of training.
Here is the difference: there are the ones that like to go off road to enjoy nature and get way. The peace, quiet, the birds, flowers, mountains, dunes, fresh air, the tranquility. bliss. And there are the ones that like to go off road and destroy nature and crash it under their 70" tires. We all know and understand the difference.

@@airbats801 on the NSW Central Coast it's pretty easy to see when someone has pushed through the scrub and then everyone starts to follow. Next thing you know that track is ripped up as much as the original. It doesn't get a chance to recover as they just keep driving over it until it's all dead.

As someone who has lived in the remote outback, North West of WA, for 30 years and has been 4wdíng since childhood (and 4x4 all day long as my day job) - you are spot on with the recent drift toward horrible attitudes ,bad driving and environmental damage. Though it is painting with a broad brush, "bogan" behaviour in capable 4x4s is very disappointing. Only yesterday did I see a 4wd (yes a Patrol) hooning along a closed beach that has hundred of endangered Loggerhead turtle nests, and it is turtle egg hatching season. Access to the beach is closed with large signs and gates requesting stay away from turtle nests, yet they were driving right over them. This is not an isolated incident either, and has been occurring more frequently. it is a serious environmental concern.
Hope the driver is caught and fined heavily.

Coming from the younger generation my self included own a patrol, i think it is just the younger generation still maturing and learning to respect others and the bush. I do hope we as a generation do change for the better before more areas do shut down.
As solo female traveller I have learnt that it is an older Patrol I have to look out for, followed closley by a brand spanking new Ford Ranger. The only times I have felt and/or been threatened is by the drivers of these vehicles. I have also noticed a sharp decline in the condition of off road tracks. Some our now impassible, just chewed up. Espicially those closer to towns as lockdowns meant 'fun' was being sourced closer to home. My neighbour is a ranger and tells me the damage is extensive. There is concern for the next bad fire season as fire trucks etc will not be able to get in to extinguish fires. They had only really finished cleaning up the track from the shocking fires we had, now with the massive rainfalls here on the east coast in the last two summers coupled with the idots tearing up the tracks it's like having to start up again. Ha dont get him started on the mess being made on the beaches.
More people use the tracks in COVID. It's not hoons as much as it's just usage. Rain does more damage than any car ever did.
The way I see it the Australian authorities are going to ban beach and wilderness driving very soon. Mark my words.

Wait a minute. I’m a Californian who married a Australian over 45 years ago. She has been calling me a Bogan for years! I asked her what that meant and she said it was a “form of endearment” jeeez.
It's similar in the UK, I bought an ex army Defender to do green laning with my children, had some great days but now a lot of the lanes are deliberately spiked or blocked by locals, when you see the larger groups of people that blast past peoples front doors it's easy to see why the locals get pissed off and eventually have the lanes closed completely. I won't mention the usual types of vehicle but suffice to say more is spent on tyres a lift kit, popcorn remap and a hi lift jack than on the purchase of the vehicle. Its a shame and more lanes are being closed or having restrictions placed on them.
I think in this context Bogans could also be described as the Send It Crew. If you really think you need 35’s to get to the beach and know intimately what your rev limiter sounds like: that’s you, no matter that you’re driving. Of course this has led to the drivetrain arms race for more 4WD owners now that the tracks are chopped out. No one left in Parks and Wildlife to occasionally drag a railway tie or bent track section to knock off the hump. Times have changed that’s for sure.

When I started 4 wheel driving, which I started as a traveller to North Africa in 1997, it already has been like this here in Germany. Restrictions all over and it gets worse these days all over Europe and in North Africa. In the early days, where the word overland did not exist as the meaning it has today, there where the 4x4 clubs and a handfull of globetrotters in 4x4 vehicles. Most of the globetrotters drove old military trucks and the guys in the smaller 4x4s had G Wagon, Landrover or Toyota Landcruiser, seldom a Nissan Patrol. All these restrictions that we had later on in North Africa, as the rules for an accompanying local guide in Tunisia or Libya (where you had to take a police officer as well) or nowadays in Algeria (where I will go in 2 weeks from now) have mainly to do with "adventure tourists in 4x4s" not travellers. These tourists are doing this kind of travelling for other reasons as someone who is interessted in cultures, environments and people in other countries. The automobile industry is building 4x4s and the community like magazines, websites, influencers, tourism industry, 4wd businesses ... is building the lifestyle and anyone in this industry wants to make an income. As you said, its a bit as in any industrie fishing, hunting ... name it. Some of the big names in the german overland industrie do have their part in the restrictions in travelling North Africa. As long as the companies are small and owner operated, the heartbeat goes with the corporate identity. As they grow, the numbers of clients has to grow. But where out of a sudden do these overlanders all come from??? Its a bit like a hipe since 10/15 years. But the places you can go do not get more. So it will get more crowded and as mankind is, there will be more rules and restrictions, no matter what make once is driving. We had the idea of a 4x4 travel ethic around 2000. Together with the old Sahara Forum by Yves Laboulette and a few commercials and travellers. But what is an ethic noone is really interessted in? Someone like you could use his name for a thing like that! 10 simple rules (take your rubbish, behave like you want your visitors to behave, respect other cultures even if you are not agreeing with, don't take things that do not belong to you like artefacts, ...) or what ever is neede for our self control before it gets worse. It's the same with cross country cycling or down hill, before you could go everywhere where you want as there were only a few. Now there are so many right that Forrest owners 8nly allow cycling on the normal paths and it will end in a total ban of cycling.

It's sad how 4x4s that were once used as bullet proof overlanders are now turning into urban tractors for school run. First it was the discovery, then the G class, following with that it's the Patrol and now it's the legendary Land Rover Defender. RIP to all these 4x4s. Well said! Luckily they tend to stay in the mudholes. What cracks me up are the giant RAMS with 30inch rims, 33 inch mud tires and 3 foot lifts. Not only will they never see dirt but they would be horrid off road.
I live in Western Australia and have been four wheel driving since the 1980s and we have lost access to a huge number of really nice places due to a small minority of people who would be happier driving around a tank testing ground than really travelling to remote and wild places. Possibly
the travel restrictions have worsened the problem as have four wheel drives becoming more powerful and faster than previous generations that were slower and a lot more agricultural and not seen as a youthful vehicle, I fear for future generations not having the opportunity to drive on beaches wild camp things that the previous generations took for granted.Regards Mike
Agree! I live near the Barrington tops/ Nundle SF and I’ve been camping there for years. The tracks in the parks are starting to close due to being cut up by the usual suspects. The remote access to these parks and forests may be shut down soon. There definitely needs to be education so that these remain open for our kids to enjoy.
On my last trip to Dirk Hartog Island some of the driving on the steep point road was shocking the digging of huge holes in the track by V8 vehicles not engaging four wheel drive till bogged or lowering tyre pressure made it so much harder for people towing or with less clearance

Every state has fairly restrictive (for good reason) laws on modifications, in particular for the discussion of smog blasters it's illegal to defeat emissions control systems like the DPF because diesel soot is terrible for anything that breathes.

The Patrol is fated to be the bogan 4WD of choice because it's about the only vehicle with a factory drivetrain that can handle 37" tyres.

Andrew - you are preaching to the wrong audience here.The demographic you refer is not terribly likely to have any interest in your style of review or opinion.
What you have done is generalize and in doing so alienated many of the more responsible 4WD’s out there - many of whom drive Patrol’s for a variety of good reasons.
You clearly have not travelled and experienced the 4wd culture in many places around Australia - at least not as much as you need to before casting such gross dispersions.
You continue in your failing to understand that there are just as many ‘bogans’ in other vehicles. Many of which have much newer and far less capable vehicles and do far more damage to the tracks and endanger the relative freedoms that we currently have, not to forget animal and human life.
I have seen Patrol drivers that are twits but I have seen more Cruiser drivers that possess such arrogance that they dangerously destroy tracks trying to achieve an outcome that could be done sympathetically. I believe there may be a connection with the perception of indestructibility of a Toyota. This also applies to so many of the newer breed of 4WD’s just trying to keep up with the solid axle vehicles.
You need to look over your own video again and study the responses in much greater detail - there are several things you have failed to address adequately here that were clearly outlined in the commentary. I fear that you have likely polarized too many people - many of whom may not return to your channel and therefore not respond to this video. I am unsure at this point but I believe that I might see an arrogance in your behavior that is unbefitting a contemporary motoring journalist. I have watched a lot ASPW and most of them I found to be very informative if you are building a overlander or dreaming of the life style. He has brilliant photography skills that really brings over a beautiful story. Unfortunately with this 15 minutes he has in many ways destroyed that illusion or dream. To dislike a car and refuse to own one because of one or two people that you have come across is a bit ridiculous and short sighted. We get a range of American vehicles here too under low volume import laws, mostly pickups, Mustangs and Camaros....they have to be converted to RHD, and must also meet all our vehicle standards just like new vehicles through a dealership do....
I believe that in the form of the 3.0l four cylinder diesels (the only engine option in their last few years on sale here) the patrols would not meet current emissions laws, tho not sure about the petrol versions, so it may need a new engine before being soldhere again....

Talks a big game about driving skill yet I haven't seen any videos of actually driving challenging tracks. Driving flat gravel roads and a few sand dunes is basically touring. It's no wonder he has such a vendetta against big lifts and tyres.

Andrew, you have hit the nail right on the head. This has happened where I live and you will know it very well, Exmouth WA. I have lived here now for 27 years and we could drive on a number of our beaches, especially the westside. Now all but closed off, not saying it was only about the bogan 4WDrivers but had a lot to do with it.
Now it has started on the Exmouth Gulf side beaches recently, the far northern beach closed to vehicles. The way some 4WDrivers that driving along the gulf beaches, more will close, some are just crazy idiots and they fit your description perfectly.
The problem with this guy is that he bags Mitsubishi Pajero and Nissan Patrol but blows his trumpet with the Toyota Land cruisers, even though he's never worked on them.
Ask him how Toyota Land cruiser never won a Paris to Dakar? Mitsubishi Pajero won 12 and made it into the Guinness World records book, Toyota Land cruiser had countless entries in the Paris to Dakar but no championships.

This very week we saw Bogan morons in action up on Bribie Island. For over a decade now newly arrived residents at flash new canal estates on Bribie have been campaigning to stop people 4wding on 'their beaches', which we have done for generations now. This goose was filmed absolutely ploughing into a creek at high tide - right beside kids playing in the water ... and surprise surprise he flooded it and it began to float away. Qld Police even posted it on Facebook as they were after the goose - and they did get him. 100% agree - these are the morons that will kill 4WDing for ALL of us. Well said Andrew, having owned a Nissan GQ (the hand grenade model), it took us fishing and camping to some very remote spots, loved that vehicle. We have also had our trip ruined by the selfish yobbos who think they can do what they like, don’t know what the solution to that sort of behaviour. Maybe it’s up to all of us to call it out when it occurs so we (and them) can enjoy the great Aussie outdoors, bush and beach.

@@Mookiemadskillz It was the 2000 model that had a habit of blowing cylinder #4 after about 150K, I managed my to nearly 200K, other wise a great 4x4. Moved to a Toyota 105 which has the same solid front axle as the GQ, great machine.

I'm going to firmly disagree with your assessment here.
There are plenty of disrespectful people driving Toyota's as well. I know this because, when my Prado fell apart with a known fault (Toyota even makes genuine parts to remedy the situation) and Toyota failed under their legal obligations to repair or refund me my money, there were plenty (near to 100%) of disrespectful, arrogant, derogatory people pointed in my direction, for merely suggesting that Toyota's are less than perfect. I also received some threats to my safety, which I had to deal with. I have megabytes of examples, screenshots from Facebook and othe social media, if you'd like to view them.

I've bought a Nissan Patrol after owning Toyota's all my life and, I'll tell you what. Brutus, my 2015 GU y61 Patrol will outdrive any of them. Any time, any place.

Same situation in Poland. Patrols are strong enaugh to survive lack of knowledge and mechanical sympathy of their recless owners. I don't think the David Attenborough of 4x4 would have built an overweight Aussie nightmare tourer with as much potential to damage tracks and beaches as any bogan behind the wheel of any make of 4x4. In my opinion that would be the South African version of Russell Coight.

Not sure what Andrew is talking about in the Video. I thought thw GU was discontinued in 2013 and is not longer sols anywhere. Only the Y62 is sold right now. And that is not really built for offroading. Does he want some resurrection of the GU?
Good points Sir. I agree with the greater idea you are pitching. In Canada (my area of Canada that is) the 6" lifted black Dodge diesel 3/4 or 1 ton truck with blacked out lights and rims, fully tinted windows, and aftermarket exhausts etc. Is the cliche 4x4 bogan. Not everyone driving these rigs is a bad apple but the vehicle type meets the stereotype. Tough not to notice the brand and modification association to belligerent behavior.
The people who are the exception to this observation will of course be cross with this observation but again, the stereotype comes from something somewhere.
Now, all that said these guys are usually parking lot princesses. It's the side by side that is the off road menace in the bush.

The last Dodge made pickups were the third generation Ram ( before Ram split from Dodge in Oct 2009 to become a seperate brand and manufacturer ) so I guess that they’re old enough and cheap enough for young bogans to buy.

I find it hilarious how some people get that attached to a brand. I’m a mechanic and I’ve had pretty much every brand of 4x4 including a couple of Patrols in which one turned in to a grenade even with the mods.
The fact is though and i was only thinking it a couple of weeks ago standing in line at the servo. I was about 6 people back from the counter and the guy second in line has the worst mullet you’ve ever seen wearing a hi vis shirt (total bogan) and as i looked outside I was like you know what? I bet he is the one in that Patrol that looks like it hadnt had a wash since the showroom! Guess what it was his car🤷🏻♂️😂!
And saying that i can also say being a mechanic I’ll never own a Land rover product because like everyone I have my reasons why.

@@shamrockgerry It has gotten to the point i refuse to work on them. They are a nightmare to do anything on, break easily (including air suspension) and end up with electrical issues that do your head in, overheat transmissions from factory towing caravans and are expensive to maintain and parts availability is very limited. The companies that do keep parts charge a premium for the convenience of having them in the country.
I’m sure some people love them though, just not me. They drive ok between break downs though😜!

As a LR enthusiast I stopped liking Land Rover when they stopped using beam axles. They were never good with electrics so what made them think filling it full of electrickery was a good idea. Roll on the Grenedier!
Don't get me wrong when it's a mid week built newer Landy they're a good, capable machine but generally overcomplicated and overpriced!

I want you to research the environmental damage your solar panels are causing. The production of photovoltaic cells is so polluting essentially all are made where environmental protections are low. The carbon foot print to manufacture, transport and install is not small. But, most importantly at the end of the panels lifespan it it’s destined for one place, a landfill. The dismantling and disposal of windmills and solar panels has been described as potentially the greatest ecological problem facing the earth over the next thirty years as the billions of dollars worth of government subsidized machines become trash.
With Australias border closures I’d imagine the problem has got worse. People not being able to travel so buying a 4x4 and not respecting the landscape etc making the problem worse for everyone

As someone who has got a Y62 on order (replaced our LX570) I agree about the bogan element that like the Patrol. Am I 1? no (well I don't think so) but I also know that I would rather be the change I want to see so if there are more of us who are respectful/nicer/etc we can rebuild the image of the vehicles.
Most ratbags we have had the misfortune to camp alongside have been driving heavily modified loud Landcruiser 70's. Ive never had a single issue with a Patrol owner.
We always found it was guys in older Hiluxs and maybe the odd 70 series. The guys in 80s and GQ etc were always just fine. I think they just had nothing to prove.
This is my experience also.
U did a budget build Andrew. Nissan X trail. I did a budget build Nissan Patrol. Not everyone has a sht tonne of cash to throw at a Toyota. You were fishing for content when you went after bogans in patrols.

We’ve got the same thing here in North America. Specifically Canada, more specifically Quebec except they’re called douchebags! They are easily identified by their white framed sunglasses, lots of crappy tattoos and pickups with six inch body lifts and 20 inch wheels with big negative offsets and low profile tires. Oddly many of them are roofers by trade. Since Covid, these types have have started spending more time outdoors camping and off-roading with no respect for basic rules and simple common sense and courtesy just like in Australia ruining it for everyone else and future generations…
The bogan element have increased off road of late purely because they can’t go to Bali due to the plandemic. 🙄
As a former forester, wildlife officer and Govt land estate manager in WA - we used to block off access to coastal tracks etc in national parks once the bogan element (4wd off-road clubs primarily) with their jacked up V8 loud large wheeled convoys of vehicles moved in.
One of the principal reasons was, due to not bothering to lower tyre pressures they would chew out 2 wheel rut sand tracks to such a depth that management agency’s responsible for eg fighting wildfires in that national park could no longer get in or out in the standard 4WDs that Govt fleet purchasers provided for doing that job. 🙄
Now there’s an entire bogan “aftermarket industry dedicated to making vehicles capable of doing just that, buggering the tracks so that no standard 4WD can access it any longer.
Worse, in WA, with our insidious incurable Jarrah Dieback disease (Phytophthera cinnamomi) - I see “brand specific” 4WD groups on Farcebook arranging “group outings” to take convoys out into our Jarrah forests around Perth & the southwest in Autumn & Spring to specifically go “play in the mud holes” the moment it rains.
The same mud that spreads Jarrah dieback disease from one water catchment to the next thus sentencing every Jarrah tree and Banksia species downslope from there to the sea with a death sentence.
Now killing our forests is “organised events” on social media. 🙄
Come with us & we will teach you how to “drive your 4WD” which today is a euphemism for “kill our Jarrah forests. 🤬👎
In spring & autumn, these groups could go to the dunes, the coastal Heath tracks, the pine forests or even the Wandoo woodlands further east of Perth in spring & Autumn when the fungal disease spores are at their most active and 4WD to their hearts content - without killing every plant in sight - but nope, it’s the damn Jarrah forests they choose every time.

Don't worry Andrew 😉, lots of people hear what you say' but don't listen ' it's a shame that what you say about beaches tracks being locked, more people need to think, but they don't , weather it is on the road or on the tracks alot don't care for others, people still drink and drive, drugs and drive, text and drive, and these people don't ever care about there own kids in the back seat let alone any one else on the road or track, I could do a full time youtube channel on texting drivers, drink driving, stupid behaviour, we need to care more, cheers Andrew, take care mate 🤗
May I offer a counter point.
In your scenario, the fellas driving “irresponsibly” on the beach are only a talking point for the officials wanting to close the beach. they get us pointing fingers at each other. The end goal is to close all tracks.
Here in nor cal officials have been trying to shut down the rubicon trail for years citing any number of irresponsible activities.
I think the thing that stops the officials in our instance is that the trail would be impassable if it were not for volunteers maintaining what is supposed to be a county rd.
In summary, government officials will incite us to regulate our peers, and in turn incite our peers to regulate us.
This tactic is used everywhere. Divide and conquer. Look at current induced mass formation psychosis forcing individuals to encroach on another's freedom
It usally is the behavior of idiots that ruin it for the rest of us. I've seen it not only on beach driving but campgrounds, bike trails and areas set aside for fishing / hunting.
The entire point is to get the idiots to stop to keep the tracks open. If everyone defends the idiots then everyone gets associated with the same antisocial destructive behaviour and the legitimate uses of the tracks are no longer apparent, leaving no reason to keep them open.
Good point, but I’d say the battle over Oceano Dunes is equally as relevant. They are shutting down the only remaining beach in California that you can drive on.

I do agree with you, however I don’t really care much about the vehicle but the mentality of those who drive them.
We have been 4W driving for over 30 years and have seen the gradual incline of people who drive like idiots.
It doesn’t mater what they drive but how they drive it with the person behind the wheel. The appearance make and affordability of vehicle does also attribute to this. Maturity happens but is slow. I do believe that with SocialMedia and the availability of certain programmes does encourage some of the behaviour in certain age groups who think it is ok to behave the same way. Maybe there should be actions from these people to make changes in how they behave
Yes. Just look at the war game mentality which seems to be universal now. Violence and destruction are normalised and glorified instead of boring behaviours like respect, tolerance and consideration for others.
I used to love going down to Sodwana in the 90's and park my Nissan Safari on the beach with side-awning & camp chairs out close enough to the tidal pools to keep an eye on our young kids while waiting for my next scuba dive. I was furious when I heard about a change in the regulations due to the behaviour of a few hooligans that screwed it up for so many. Understandably, in the good ol' days Sodwana Bay beach was a showcase of all brands of 4x4's, many with fancy extras fitted but the 'boguns' were very noticable, aggravated by alcohol. And so, sadly, a very special era came to an end.
Well said Andrew. I have owned 2 Patrols in the past, a GQ and a GU. Both were fantastic off road, and extremely rugged in construction. The criticism I would have about still selling them (or rather why they aren't still sold here) is that the Y61 Patrol frontal offset collision rating is very low scoring only 6 out of 16 in 2011 (last tested) where Toyota 76 series vehicles in 2016 scored 14 out of 16 and perfect scores in the other crash tests, with a final score of 35 out of 37 which is amazing for a vehicle of that nature. Some people may think this isn't important, but if you have teenage children that want to borrow the car, and you get a knock on the door and someone telling you your child has been killed in a car accident, it is too late to re-think that choice.
